    Scars!?! Would you...

Scars...Well for me it really didn't matter because I had a huge scar from a tumor in my stomach that I had removed in my 20's. My scars are healing nicely. I am waiting for the 1 year anniversary so that i can finish to transition with a tummy tuck. The scars will be barely noticeable at that time as I have had other scars that healed nicely....Lets see..scars covered up by clothes or clothes that dont cover up your weight...I am going with the scars every time. As long as they aren't on my face...Dont care........Have a fab weekend...

    spelling error

Being a person that uses texting as a way of communication, I have no problem with people making errors. I am more interested in what they have to say than correcting their every word......If I corrected every person that used a medical term in the wrong fashion, I would go crazy...

    Lap Band and CPR

Well this is my thought...If you are needing to be tubed or getting chest compressions. I wouldn't care so much about the band as I would making damn sure they do those compressions right. Because in the end...if they dont get you back, the band isn't really going to matter at that point........Crista(nurse for 20 years)

    Losing my patience!!!!

Hang in there girl...It will happen soon enough..I had to have 6 months of nutrition counseling before I could have mine. Then 1 week before my surgery, they found I had a pulmonary shunt, and it was put off another month. Talk about depressing..uughhhh. However, I was finally banded on the 7th month which was Dec 28 th, 2009. I think I am out about 17 days out and feeling great...Good luck, dont give up and may the force be with you.......onenuttynurse
  7. Okay...so now that the cat is out of the bag. It is time to take something that was so negative(person opening their mouth) and turn it into something wonderfully positive. I am a nurse and was also recently banded. Yes, I have people just waiting to see what I am going to eat. Do I care, absolutely not. They are just curious and the nay sayers who constantly have nothing good to say. They don't deserve your friendship in the first place. A conversation came up with a RN at work. I heard her say, "i dont know why she cant just lose the weight, just stop eating, its that simple". I marched over to her and said" I don't know why you got two divorces, couldn't you just work on it, its that simple"...Needless to say..she keeps her mouth shut now...........
  8. Hi..no problem...would be more than happy to visit with you. Jan 20th is right around the corner..I was banded on dec 28th....waiting now for my first fill on the 11th of FEB...Crista

    Post-op: Very active job

I am a charge RN on a cardiac floor and routinely help other nurses do lifts, turns, etc. I am returning after being off for 3 weeks. Doc said that would be sufficient. Thanks to the crew i work with, if i dont want to lift anything I dont have to. They will be looking after me....I am always leary of lifting heavy pts anyway so i rely on slings alot....Hope this helps..........
  10. Yep...water doesn't work for me either...hot tea works a little to break it down....

    GAS Pain...

There are two types of gas pain you may experience. In the operating room, we use CO2 to blow up the stomach to visulize the internal organs. The other gas is bowel gas. The shoulder pain is CO2 gas that gets traps after they remove that they can. Gas X wont help that. Warm heating pads and movement will help that. Soon it will reabsorb itself and disapate....The bowel gas can be relieved with walking and gas x.....Hope this helps.....

    Can I do this??

I had my surgery on dec 28th, and was shopping the next morning...so I think everyone is different. I have not taken anything for pain since my surgery. Everyone is different...I am not saying you will feel like a million bucks, but you can certainly go to the concert feeling like $450,000.............onenuttynurse

    Banded last night (12-23-09)

Hi Girls, I was banded on December 28th at 0730 in the morning, and gone by noon. I am so excited for this to be done. This is my second day and feeling super. NO pain pills. Little gas in shoulders, but other than that I am up moving around and feeling fine. I am enjoying my strained mushroom soup, protein shakes, and water. Tommorow is jello, soup and water. I was able to walk right past cheeseburgers and fries tonight. Thank goodness. My husband and boys(17 and 18 are great inspirations)...take care and keep up the great works. I look forward to meeting new people on this site... Crista in Wasington...Onenuttynurse:biggrin:

    Tired of it!!

Keep your chin up. People just want something to talk about. Most of them have nothing better to do than to critique others. Regarding people commenting on what you are eating. They are just miserable in their own skin, so they make themselves feel better by degrading other. I am going through all the labs and etc right now, but wont be banded until late october due to my insurance. My co workers(nurses) know I am having this done and they are very supportive to my face anyway. However, its just really none of their business and I am having it done while on a vacation. They don't know when the true date is....have a great day and remember "you are only as inferior as you allow people to make you feel"....
