Hey gang! I had a fill (2nd) and was wondering if I'd done an overkill. I find that if I have something warm to drink (or eat) like soup, it loosens up the band enough to get some stuff down without any problem. Have something cold and boy oh boy. Especially in the morning. Anyone else find this to be true? Have lost 30 pounds so far with another 35-40 to go.

Just went this last week for my second fill and felt a good restrictioini. Today, I was able to eat a full green salad without feeling much. Anyone else have a relaxation of the fill?

I was told to wait 6-8 weeks or longer if you are still losing weight at a slow rate. With the band, you are suppose to lose at a slow rate. Remember, you have to eat at 3000 calories over what you burn to put on a pound.

My girlfriend (who had the band 3 years ago) can eat what she wants. She had a cracker with some cheese the other day and said "I may be only able to eat one cracker but it will be the best cracker I can find". Am hoping to get to that point also that one cracker will satisfy and fill me up.

Sorry to hear about all the problems you have been having. After hearing (personally) from others who have had the banding, the big thing is not with or right after a meal. I think drinking before helps fill up the stomach and not the pouch. Hope you are on the mend and feeling better. By the way, I am a woman!!! Just happen to have a horse ranch.

KMO...did you ever ask your doctor why no drinking before meals?

Thanks KMO and Mary. My main question was before meals, not with. I can understand the with and after just not the before!

I think the hardest thing is going to be not drinking with a meal. I can understand the not drinking after eating for an hour but can anyone tell me why not before? The liquid will go right through the band and not flush anything through.

Hey guys! It's me Charlie...banded on the 12th...met you as you were walking the halls. The Fat Free/SF popcycles help a lot. Also, the green tea helps. V-8 juice things like that in between. You have no restriction until the fill (at least I do not). Am scheduled for 9/12 for a fill. What about you? Have also hit a stand still on the weight loss but am trying to only weigh once a week. Remember that more protein will help you stay fuller longer. Charlie

I was there with a girlfriend but we met a lot of nice people at the hotel who were banded the day before and also met people that were being banded the same day. If someone looks like they are there for the procedure, strike up a conversation (especially if you saw them in the doctor's office) Good luck, you will be fine. I forgot the only thing I hated about the hotel was the beds were hard as a rock!!!

Call the surgery center and see if this is a side effect. Are you still on clear liquids? If not, maybe you should revert to them.

Are you all allowed to eat this other stuff so soon? We are stuck on liquids (with some yogurt) for about 10 days and then can add the protein shakes!!!!
