I AM SUING FOR THE CRUEL TREATMENT OF MORBIDLY OBESSE PEOPLE BY THE GOVERNMENT OF MANITOBA. AS IT IS A DISEASE THAT IS RECOGNIZED AS SURGICALY TREATABLE BY THE GOVERNMENT OF MANITOBA AND IS CURRENTLY OFFERED IN PROVINCE AT THE MAPLES SURGICAL CENTER BUT NOT PAID FOR BY THE GOVEMENT OF MANITOBA BECAUSE THERE HAS BEEN NO SPECIAL AGREEMENT MADE BETWEEN MAPLES SURGICAL CENTER AND THE GOVERNMENT OF MANITOBA AS IS DONE FOR OTHER MEDICAL PROCCEDURES TO REDUCE WAIT LISTS. OBESITY SURGERY IS PAID FOR BY THE PROVINCE OF MANITOBA, IF YOU ARE SENT OUT OF PROVINCE FOR THE TREATMENT WHICH INCLUDEDS FORCED DIETING IN THE CASE OF EDMONTONS WEIGHT WISE CLINIC YOU ARE SENT TO THE CLINIC FOR APPROXIMATLY 5 TIMES BEFORE YOU ARE CONSIDERED TO BE A SURGICAL CONSULT WHICH IS PAID FOR BY THE PROVINCE OF MANITOBA UNDER A DIFFERENT BUDGET. THIS INCLUDES EXTREAMLY LONG WAITLISTS TO EVEN GET INTO THE PORGRAM 9 MONTHS TO GET INTO THE PROGRAM AND OVER A YEAR AND 4 TO 5 VISITS TO EDMONTON ( APPROXIMATLY 18 MONTHS) BEFORE YOU ARE CONSIDERED A SURGICAL CANDIDT , WHILE THE PAITIENT SUFFERS FROM MEDICAL ISSUES IN MY CASE IT IS sleep APENA WITH SLEEP DEPRIVATION AND OTHER PSYCOLOGICAL ISSUES, AS A RESULT OF THE LACK OF TREATMENT PROVIDED BY THE GOVERNMENT OF MANITOBA SINCE 2008 WHICH IS WHEN THE LAP BANDING PROGRAM WAS IMPLEMENTED AT THE MAPLES SURGICAL CENTER. OTHER MEDICAL PROCCEDURES ARE DONE AT THE MAPLES SURGICAL CENTER UNDER SPECIAL AGREEMENT SUCH AS BREAST REDUCTIONS SO WHY NOT THE GASTRIC LAPBAND. THE MANITOBA GOVERNMENT IS NEGLIGENT IN NOT REDUCING WAITLIST TIMES BY MAKING A SPECIAL AGREEMENT WITH MAPLES SURGICAL CENTER THUS PROLONING PSYCHOLOGICAL SUFFERING AND DISCRIMINATING AGAINST MOBIDLY OBESE PEOPLE. BECAUSE OF THE NEGLIGENCE OF THE GOVERNMENT OF MANITOBA I HAVE HAD TO PAY OUT 18,000 APROXIMATLY TO HAVE LAP BAND SURGERY AT THE MAPLES SURGICAL CENTER. TO REDUCE THE WAITLIST TO A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME TO REDUCE THE SUFFERING FROM THE DISEASE OF MORBID OBESITYAND IS'S CO-MORBIDITYS.

Good Morning People I am posting this as i have found a great deal of sucsess using a product from Popeyes, i have been banded on September 15 2009 and i have lost 101 lbs using a high protien diet ( eggs chicken and tuna) along with a protien powder called Intra pro, i am mixing my shakes with water and they are great but with milk it is like drinking cheese cake (best is strawberry) Intra pro has 155 calories with water and 25 grams of protien, the best shaker cup is the one with the metal wisk in the cup, put half the liquid in and shake like hell then add the rest of the liquid popeyses will let you try the protien shakes in the store but watch out some of the protein powders are high calories good luck:tt2:

Anyone had luck with insurance covering some/all of surgery?
fergieis replied to Scornelius's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
i work for canada post when i submited to GReat west life i was denied on 2 levels i have now asked the CEO and president of the company to over rule GWL as we have coverage for Medicaly implanted devices but apperently it specifys what types and i have asked to see the documents but they wont show me ! -
Lap-Band Reimbursement Assistance Program 3450 Harvester Road Burlington, ON L7N 3M7 the angle that they take and you have to check your coverage is that it is a doctor approved medicaly implanted device great west life declined me orriginaly and we are in the appeals stage i was warned that it would probably be denied as the 1st level ajudicators seem to decline them right away failing that i would suggest a lawsuit insurance companys hate bad publicity
-
just to let you know i have had a company that is paid for by lap band there job is to submit to great west life /blue cross for medical coverage for a medicaly implanted device, great west life denied me first round and i was warned that untill it goes to appeal they will likley denie it so i am hoping to get 4800 back on income tax and 5000 approx from great west life but until the cheque is in my bank i wont believe it 75 lbs down in under 4 months

hey people just thought that i would update you with my fight with the goverment i have asked some tought questions and i am not getting a responce as the goverment is telling me that they will pay for the proccedure in edmonton but when i asked how many people that they have reffered they wont answer that question because it would be putting themself in a legal situation i am assuming that is why they wont answer Lap band manufactures have hired a company to solicite they big insurance companys such as great west life and blue cross waiting to hear back on that and once i get the final tally i am going to file suit against the goverment I am 2 months post op this sunday and i am 60 pounds down with 50 more to go by summer i should hit my goal of 235 lbs i am feeling much better and sleeping like a baby Fergie:eek:

I wouldnt worry about paging the docs as they are probably working at the hospital anyways, not to mention that they get paid a good buck to be there for us hope things are going better today Fergieis:thumbup:

for anyone who wants to know, i will be on CJOB today at 10 am talking about lapband and the stigma of obesity for you people that are out of town www.cjob.com and listen live button as for my Human Rights claim, I found out a funny thing after talking with 4 people from manitoba Health and i sent my letter to the Apeals board, i apperently didnt follow the application proccess of applying apperently Manitoba Health will pay for the proccedure if it is done out of province(but not the device itself) but the letter i sent to the appeals board was intercepted by a staff member and not given to the appeals board this is getting messy and looks like i might have to sue for neglegence no one person gave me the right direction until after my surgery 6 weeks after my originating emails

i was wondering i am 2 weeks post op and eatting better food choices as i wait for my first fill on october 27 i have gained 2 lbs which is fustrating even thought I was told i will gain some weight back, i just want a fill as i feel great so great i played volleyball on sunday ( with docs approval ) but i have a month to go and i am craving a fill really bad as i find that i am eating large portions of the good food i never thought i would say this but i really like the protien shakes i am drinking to get my protien to where the diettitan wants it I miss my diet coke? I also am looking for a lawyer to sue the goverment for trying to make me go the gastric by pass method did you know that if you get reffered to gastric bypass you have to fly to edmonton and take some education fly home and then fly back to edmonton for the surgery at your cost until the goverment pays for the travel and when it comes time to vote i emailed NDP, PC and Liberals and the only one party that didnt get back to me was the NDP Diva i think that i got some of your protien bars as i had to bring jen back 2 boxs, i was there with my wife leslee thanks for your emails just a heads up for everyone i am filing a human rights claim ( or trying ) against the goverment for discriminating against me(us) the goverment shouldnt be able to pick and choose what diseases they pay to treat will keep you posted Fergie

all was good in 6 days post op i took 1 tylenon 3 and 2 regular strength tylenols that is it the pain was very minimal but the gas was insane walk as much as you can to get that gas moving i was 4 days post op till all the gas was gone and yesterday i learnt why they tell you bread is bad ( closest i have been to puking in years ) i have a low pain threshold and i did it no problem so good luck and i found that chow main is great for your 2 cups of vegtables i ordered it every day i found out ( just make sure that they dont use oil when cooking ) it was a treat as it is take out but allowed ( i lost 31 lbs on my pre op and cheated 2 times with bad choices) keep busy it is the easy way to keep mind off cheating. good luck and the people at Maples are wonderfull ( phill the nurse put a big bandaid over my hairy chest the other 4 bandaids he shaved i will get even some how:):smile2:
