My issue is waiting between bites when I am really hungry. I am learning though, much better to wait, if I can remember, than to vomit, which is what I do, no burp involved.

Hello Everyone, Has anyone eaten popcorn? I know they tell us not to and I haven't but would love some popcorn. I have lost 25 lbs since December 17, 2008, date of surgery. Slowwww Don, I had a fill last week and really feel the restriction. It feels like a lump in my chest that won't go down, if I eat more than a couple of bites or drink too much. MaRosie, Congratulations! No matter how I complain, I feel better with the band than without! Hi JoAnn and Phyl, Thanks, as always, for your sensible, knowledgeable advice. :tt2: roxie

State by State Lap-Band Surgery appeal rights link
roxie replied to gviscio's topic in Insurance & Financing
Hi All, Your employer determines what your health benefits will be. The health plan only administers the benefits. So if your request for authorization is denied you need to contact your health plan representative, or Human Resources, where you work. Of course if your employer is the health plan then you would appeal to them. Make sense? -
Hi Everyone, I have lost 22 lbs. since 12/17/08 surgery date. Slow Slow Slow but I do notice I lose better if I eat lighter in the evening. If you do not feel uncomfortable after you eat more than a cup of food, I would say you need a fill but I went in to get a fill and they wouldn't give me one because even though I am losing slow, I am losing. So don't listen to me.

Thank you twirl. Let us know how the second fill went.

Hi Everyone, Update. I received my first fill last week. Not so pleasant. The PA tried to find my port twice and then had to get another PA who did find it but it took 3 tries. They said it was because I had a lot of scar tissue. Whatever, it wasn't fun. I have lost 18 lbs. The PA said,"you are a slow loser", no kidding. I am a little cynical today. Hope everyone else is doing well.

Good News Don! You give me hope. Nothing is surprising me. I am struggling.

How many fills have you had?

Hi Everyone, I am still learning how to dance with my lap band. I can eat salad, apple with Peanut Butter, with no problem but have had trouble with tuna and salmon. I think I am taking too big of bites. I get my first fill in a couple of weeks. I am interested to see if I feel a difference. I have only lost 13 lbs. since my surgery on 12/17/08. I am disappointed but I am in this for the long run. It is nice to be able to come to this website and know that I am not alone. BTW - I was given a sample of unjury Protein shake mix and I like it better than any of the others. Just in case you guys are interested.

State by State Lap-Band Surgery appeal rights link

Sue, You need to call or write your states Department of Insurance or equal to, to find out their guidelines and regulations for this situation. Be sure to tell them that you have an authorization number, etc., the whole process from beginning to now and don't leave anything out. You should receive an acknowledgement of your appeal and an approximate timeframe for a decision. Good Luck! -
Don, I think you are right, because it doesn't just twinge, it hurts! I also have the Realize Band and I can't help but wonder if it isn't because of that. Regardless, we have to find a way to deal with it. Thanks

Thank you JoannMarie.

Hi Everyone, Is it normal to have pain on the side of the port when you bend over at the waist?
-
Phyllser, Congratulations! You did it! Incredible.... thank you for sharing and being so supportive. You must feel better in so many ways.
-
twirl, yes I get little burps that won't burp. I also made a big mistake of taking Aleve capsules this morning and I have been trying to get those down with hot tea. I do not get the burps with drinking. I can feel where the food goes once I swallow. It takes a while for it to move.

Dana, I am doing OK, I was banded on the 17th, and I am experiencing pain on the left side incisions. Glad to hear you are doing OK. Take Phazyme, for the gas, it worked for me.
-
Dana, Let me know how you like the Isopure. I have all of my stuff too. I already had the upper GI but I do have to go to my doctor tomorrow because last Thursday my blood pressure was up. I have a lot of support too. We are fortunate. I will keep you in my prayers and I can't wait to compare how we do.
-
Pioneer, Are you getting scared? Are you wondering why you decided to do this?
-
Hi Pioneer, I am having my lapband surgery on December 17th so I will be thinking of you and praying that we both do well. I am scared but so ready to have this done and begin my new adventure. The best to you!
-
angelshere, 10 lbs a month isn't anything to sneeze at!
-
Thank you Phyl. I want the bottom line so I have as few surprises as possible. You guys never mentioned how awful the barium tastes for the upper GI. Yuck and the xray techs say I will have a few more of them.

:rolleyes2: Here's roxie.........I have all of my pre-op tomorrow and surgery on 12-17, it is getting scary now and I am so afraid of failing. It does sound like the band doesn't just limit your intake but causes you not to have as big of an appetite. Is that right?
-
Hey you guys, Do any of you ever go to the Chat rooms? What can you do there we don't do here? roxie
-
Good Luck, Don!

Lynn, Pati, JoannMarie, Phyllser, I have enjoyed this website for over 2 years but have never found where I belong until now. I am interested in everything you guys discuss, i.e., Wii Fit and comparison to other Wii options, Realize vs other bands, concern about our age and the band and our success or lack of, anyway, just to say I find you guys to be informed, open minded, kind and I am so glad I found you all before my surgery. Just want you to know that I appreciate the effort you put into this site. Pati - thank you for the encouragement, I need it.
