Thanks for the PS surgery information. Now I am interested in the KMart adventure but probably not on this website. Get some rest and thanks again. -
TheGh0st's Extended Tummy Tuck w/Lipo
roxie replied to TheGh0st's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Hi, Was your surgery painful and did you have an inpatient stay or was it an outpatient surgery? Sorry if I am coming into the middle of the conversation and you have already answered these questions? -
Anyone have any suggestions regarding what bicycle is the best? :tongue2:
-
Congratulations Phyl! That is quite an accomplishment after lots of hard work. Sounds like you have been blessed with a gem of a physical therapist.

Info on Dr. Laporte or Dr. Frances in Fountain Valley
roxie replied to GotGlock21's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Hi Ann, I am 58 years old, had my lap band surgery on 12-18-08 and have lost 45 lbs without any weight gained back. I have lost very slowly, I am sure because of my age and that I have learned how to work around my band but I can sincerely tell you that I would have the surgery many times over because of Dr. Francis, Orange Coast Memorial Hospital and Staff and the results I have had with the band. Most people lose faster than me but that is because they follow the diet and exercise plan exactly and I admittedly do not.:tt1: -
This is so weird. I was banded 12-17-08 and have also lost 43 lbs. Make me feel like I am not alone and that we have more loss to look forward to. Thanks for your post.

NormaRae - your input is just as important as those who follow the program to the "T". We need to hear from both sides. Thank you
-
Karen, Congratulations! This is an incredible accomplishment!
-
Phyllser, Thanks for the update and I am so glad you are having fun!
-
You know what? That is the biggest benefit about the band - it does not allow you to go totally crazy on a food binge. So at least, for me, even when I have eaten badly, I know it will not take much to get back on track.
-
My surgery date was 12/17/08 and the hardest thing for me is staying away from sugar. I have become an expert at working around the band but now I am learning how to stop that destructive behavior and take advantage of working with the band.

Hi Everyone, Down 35 1/2 lbs. as of this am. Hope everyone is doing well!
-
 down another lb. today! Thank you Phyllser and Laura. words to live by - GET ALL OF THE SUGARY FOODS OUT OF THE HOUSE!!!!!
-
Hi Laura, I am discouraged too but mostly because of my own doings. I was banded 12/17 and have only lost 32 lbs. I have very cleverly learned how to manipulate the band by eating sugary things because if I eat protein, I get full too quickly..... duh. I also find myself eating more than 3 times a day, another no, no. The last couple of days I have held myself in check and I can feel I have lost some. I will weigh in the morning and see for sure. I think documenting everything you eat daily is a big help. The band works if you follow the dietary and exercise guidelines but those of us that are older will lose more slowly. I also follow the "before and after photos" on this website and a 26 year old has lost 200 lbs in less than a year....amazing. Anyway I know why I am not as successful as others in our 60+ group.

Hi Joann, Congratulations on your new grandson. The new picture is great! You are having a much more international spring/summer than me. You are right I don't need the sugar sabatoge. I have done better the last few days. Thank you Joann

Hi Everyone, Haven't had too many posts lately. Are we all enjoying the beginning of summer? I just got past my birthday and a friend visiting from Lewiston, Idaho, so I need to get serious about watching my sugar, again. If it just weren't for my addiction to sugar, I swear, I would weigh 125, haha! Anyway, I miss hearing what is going on with everyone. Hope all is well.

Doddie, I received your e-mail and responded. Thanks
-
Hey Doddie, Thanks so much for your reply. It does absolutely no good to dwell on the past. Wish me luck! I will keep you updated. One more thing - what do you do when you get hungry a couple of hours after dinner? Do you eat something or just have a cup of tea? I would love to hear any suggestions. I think that is where one of my problems lies. Thanks again!:wink2:

Hello Everyone, I haven't gained any weight but I certainly have not lost any. surgery was 12-17-2008 and I have lost 26 lbs. My fault but feels good to confess. Hope you are all well and looking forward to the summer.

Back from doc. She said the trouble I am experiencing is either because I am not chewing well enough, regardless of how well I think I am chewing or that I am not drinking enough water. I told her I am drinking the 64 ozs but that I do take an antihistamine and she said that might mean I have to drink more than 64 ozs. I am going to chew even more than I have been and drink more than 64 ozs a day when taking my antihistamine. She did give me a 1cc fill which puts me at 7cc's in my Realize Band. Thank you all for your input and support. I will keep you updated. Phyl, Have fun RV'ing!
-
Phyl, How could it be because of a tight fill if the food never gets to the lapband site?
-
nrpnrp, I am just naturally a very stressed person, so, yes it could be stress, but it has been happening for over a month.
-
Phyl. Thank you so so much! You always make me feel like I am not alone and not insane, which really helps. I am going to try the warm beverage idea and talk with my doc about this tomorrow. I will let you know what she says and again, thank you and I love your new picture.

Hi Everyone, I need your input on an issue I have run into lately. When I start eating I take small bites, I chew chew chew and wait at least 5 minutes or more between bites but, I am having trouble with my first 1 to 3 bites getting stuck in my chest, causing me pain and sometimes the only way out of it is to vomit. I have not had this issue in the past and once the clog moves down or I bring it up, I can go on and eat my meal. It is not because I have overeaten when this happens. I would really appreciate any suggestions. I have an appt with my lapband surgeon on Thursday. Thank you all. I can see everyone is doing extremely well and I congratulate you all on your successes and tenacity.
