  1. erikaz, glad you asked that question? I was banded 6/3/09 and since I started the optifast 2 weeks before surgery, I've lost 30 pounds. I'm afraid my dr is not going to give me a fill on 7/10. I seem to have restriction even without any fluid but want a fill so I stay fuller longer. I get full fast, but it doesn't last too long. I'm not complaining about the weight loss but I really would like a fill.
  2. wmaodell, I was banded on 6/3/09 and chocolate is one of my favorites. The one thing I found to satisfy my "sweet" desire that is low carb, high protein and very satisfying is my protein drink. It is delicious. An example of my diet is Bkfst - 1/3 cup egg beaters Lunch - 1/2 cup tuna/very little light mayo 1/2 cup fruit cup/extra light syrup Snack - protein drink dinner - 2 oz of extra lean meat 1/2 cup of veggies. I go for my first fill on 7/10 but I already have restriction with the band just being there. Open for any questions you may have. Good luck and try the protein drink Karen

Need Lap Band Buddy / Mentor looking for support

Hi Ginny, How did your surgery go? Are you recovering well? While reading your post, I saw myself in it. So much in common. I am 41 and got banded on 6/3/09. All I can say is WOW, there is so much of myself in your post. Amen to the comments about our Lord. Thanks to Him for the smooth surgery and recovery. There were many, many prayers lifted up to Him before, during and after the surgery. I would like to keep in contact with you and your progress. You can either send post on this website or my home email is kverrier1@optimum.net . As I read the story of your past, I noticed you're from PA. I grew up in Wilkes-Barre. I always like to meet people from "back home"
  4. Hi Julie, I am 27 days post op and the incision by my port is still tender. I had a dress on Sunday and the seam of the dress kept touching it and was irritating the incision. Even as we speak, I can still feel the incision. The incision seems to be right in the middle of the extra roll of "me". It's off to the right side but my clothes touch it. Let me know how you make out if you call the doctor. I'm going for my first fill July 10th. Good luck
  5. Hi, this is karenv. You replied to my post about ticker blues.....guess what, I did it. Go to the replies of my post, scroll down to the entry by Health4Life. Follow the instructions exactly, and slowly. It worked. Let me know

    Newly banded

Hi syettaC, I'm from Watertown/Oakville and I was just banded June 3rd. Who was your dr? I had Dr. Craig Floch. He was wonderful. The key to your problem is what are you eating. Definately touch base with your surgeons office and get back on track with your diet. Think about what you just went through. You don't want to have done it for nothing. Being so close, we can get together as support for each other. karen

    Need advice for thoughtless family

AArrrggghhh I can't take it anymore. I was just banded June 3rd and have already cheated on 3 or 4 different occassions. My family are big junk food eaters and I have asked them to help me by keeping their junk food out of my site. Yet, my husband asked me to make him a cake (my weakness). Thought I could do it and not have it bother me...wrong!! I came home today from work hungry and I'm the one who has to come up with a dinner menu the rest of my family will eat. No support. ANY ADVICE. They wont eat veggies or anything that is light, low fat, fat free or healthy. :crying:

    introduction

Hi Dee, My name is Karen and I was just banded 6/3/09. Like you, I had type II diabetes. Believe it or not, since two days before the surgery, I have not needed to take any of my diabetic medication. My sugar levels were monitered around the clock in the hospital and when I got home and was on the liquids I tested my level often. No need for the medication. However, not taking my diabetic medication was the advice of my doctor. He said because I will not be eating anywhere as many carbs, I should not need my meds and he was right. As of today, it has been a whole month and no diabetic medication. Good luck and keep me posted.
  11. I'm three weeks post op and everything about the surgery is great except for the fact I constantly feel the port. It seems like it might be on a muscle. When I exercise it gives me a feeling of cramping on my right side.(thats the side the port is on). I'm also a belly sleeper and every morning when I wake up there is pressure there and the port is very pronounced. Am I worried for nothing because it's only been three weeks? I see my dr and get my first fill two weeks from today.
  12. Hi Bambam, Thanks for the reply. It was very comforting to know this is normal. I guess I needed to hear it from another bander. Since the port is stitch to a muscle that can explain a lot of the discomfort. The pillow work. I did the same thing for the first two weeks.
  13. Hi blklab. I definately could understand what your going through. I'm 41 and was just banded on 6/3/09. This was not an easy decision but one I'm glad I made so far. My surgery went a lot better than I had expected. I didn't suffer from all the gas pains they metioned, the incisions are fading fast and I feel good. I must confess though, I have given in to temptations on about 3 or 4 occassions already. I know this is not good, but its still a learning process to get through. Yes, I cheated but I have to look at the days I didn't cheat. I stuck to the dietary guidelines and did fine. You'll be better for it in the long run if you choose to have it done but just make sure that you are willing to give it a good try. You should not have any doubts when the time comes to be banded. If you do, then your not ready. Good luck

  15. Hi everyone. I am 41 and live in Watertown, CT. I was recently banded on 6/3/09 by Dr Craig Flock. I have no support system to help me along and would really, really appreciate someone to talk to who understands what I'm going through. Thanks Karen
  16. Hi, I am a 41 year old who was banded on 6/3/09 by Dr. Craig Flock. Seeking buddy in the CT Greater WTBY/Naugatuck Valley region.
  17. Hi everyone. I'm glad I found this site. I was banded on 6/3/09 by DR. Craig Floch of Fairfield County Bariatrics in Norwalk, CT. It's been very hard to find people to talk to about banding. I'm open for any advise or comments. Things have been going very well the last three weeks except for today. My port area is starting to hurt. It feels like the port moves around and is not stationary. I went back to work today and all I do for 8 hours is sit at a computer. Sitting sometimes bothers the incision areas. Hope to get to meet some of you. Thanks for reading :blushing:
