Mountaingal reacted to Lema in Feeling kind of betrayed
Don't feel bad about giving it away. And was probably thinking the way he always has when it comes to getting a Valentine's Day gift for a loved one. It's an innocent mistake that I wouldn't hold against anyone.
Why are you feeling guilty about giving it away?? You are making a healthy choice by not eating it or keeping it. Some day when you are having a shitty day, you will get up and open it if you keep it around the house. If not, looking at it twice a week will just remind you of how you can't have it and then make you feel guilty the way you feel right now.
I bought 10 piece chicken wings the other day because I hadn't eaten the entire day and I was starving. I could have had something else but the smell of it was way too overwhelming. As soon as I finished the second piece, I regretted that decision. I was driving and saw one of those homeless guys that walk between the lanes, asking for change. I gave him the entire bag of chicken wings. It felt so good to get rid of that stuff from my car. I have noticed this about myself these days. Whenever I buy unhealthy stuff or end up with pasties/sweets, I hand it over to the next person beside me. I want that stuff out of my reach.

LOL, the first two were VERY unlucky finds...except for the 3 wonderful kids i got from them (the first gave me a son who is now an EMT, HE MARRIED HIS CHILDHOOD sweetheart whom he had been with since they were 10. They gave me 4 grandbabies: a girl 11, a girl 9, a girl 5, and a boy 2. We also had a daughter who married a wonderful man she met at Purdue while he and i were students there. They have given me 3 grandbabies: a girl 7, a girl 4, and a boy 2...so even though husband #1 turned out to be a monster i have to be glad i met and married him, if i hadn't i wouldnt have my 2 birth children or my 7 grandchildren. Husband #2 turned out to not be much better but one good thing came from our marriage, we adopted a baby boy together. My adopted son is now 20. Husband #3 is so wonderful. He is so patient and understanding and loving. He fathered my kids as if they were his own. He and my oldest son are best friends and he is the only father my adopted son has ever really known, my husband has been his dad since my son was only 3. We have been together 17 years, married 16. My husband is totally blind and hearing impaired and absolutely (almost) perfect...i am VERY lucky now...but had to go through 13 years of hell to get here. For me 3rd times a charm i guess [emoji5]

Some men can just be so oblivious...they dont mean to be, they just are. It doesnt mean they dont care, they just dont think....
I am so blessed to have a man who is attentive and who waits on me hand and foot since ive been so ill...he is amazing...it only took me 3 marriages to find my Mr. Right...
I hope your man starts paying more attention to detail or that you find a man who does

Just go back to your pre-op diet for 2 weeks and start the entire process over. You can also do a shortened version, such as the 5 day pouch test.
In case you didn't have a pre-op diet, here's mine:
Week 1
Breakfast - Protein shake
lunch - Protein Shake
dinner - unbreaded, lean meat on a bed of greens
All the broth, Water, unsweetened beverages, sugar-free Jello and sugar-free popsicles you want
Week 2
Breakfast - Protein Shake
lunch - Protein shake
dinner - protein shake
All the broth, Water, unsweetened beverages, sugar-free Jello and sugar-free popscles you want
After these 2 weeks gradually return to solid food but make sure the emphasis is on protein and non-starchy vegetables.

Mountaingal reacted to 10stackzz in New here, procedure set for Jan. 12, 2017!
I'm pre-op...I should have my gastric sleeve surgery date real soon! I'm ready for my relationship with food to end. I have enjoyed eating waaaay to long, I've eaten the best steak, the greatest Mac n cheese, the tastiest Desserts you could imagine. However, as of today, I surrender to it all. It's literally killing me slowly. My health is getting worse, my steps are getting shorter, my social life is non existent because of all the poor food choices I made. After my surgery, I plan to concentrate on keeping the weight off...I'm tired of being FAT...I'm over it!...I'm ready to get this party started.
I'm looking for a good Protein shake as well. No chalky taste. Good luck with the surgery. Enjoy your holiday and this time next year...You will much smaller!

Mountaingal got a reaction from Julie norton in can you get thin from plication or average weight?
DelilahK I made the decision for the plication partly because of the reasons you mentioned.`I am the caregiver for a handicapped spouse and did not have a way to manage a long recovery, especially for something that others would not feel necessary and thus not step up to help out. I was also self pay. In fact I went to Mexico. I am very happy with my choice. Of course I am in my 60's and and am happy being a little bit heavier than I would have at a younger age. I lost 60lbs and have maintained that loss for over a year with no problem. I watch what I eat of course and exercise. I see no reason why, had I wished to that I could not have lost another 20lbs putting me at an 80lb loss which is what you were mentioning. If you have not yet made a decision look at some of the English WLS sites. Plication is far more popular there than it is here and many seem to find it a good alternative to VSG. Good luck whatever you choose.

Beautiful dress. I think you look great in it!! I agree with the others who have suggested a heavier material for the skirt.

You look amazing! I second having a heavier fabric liner under so that it can flow a bit more. But you really don't need it!

I am getting married April 1 and have the almost perfect wedding dress except Spanx are not doing the job with my loose skin. The back of the dress is fairly low so my compression garment can't be too high and the material is too thin to wear boning (it will show). I bought it thinking spanx would work but I need to either bandage this skin somehow or tape it to give a smoother appearance. I found a product on Amazon called Skinnies that can be used for stomach, arms and thighs and wondering if anyone has had luck with it or can suggest something else. Surran wrap would be just too hot for my Texas wedding. Down 150 lbs! I didn't want to have plastics before pregnancy.

Congrats to you 2-liter for your victories.... there will be soooo many more to come. My suggestions: take pictures of yourself or have someone do it for you. very important!!!
take pictures of you scale once a month to keep track of my weight loss. set small goals and large ones..... and reward yourself for them.... NO food REWARDS... Stuff I treated myself to mani's and Pedi's.... and YES men should get Pedi's... New belts, new shoes, new shirt... etc.
I also, tracked my progress on my bathroom mirror. I wrote with dry erase markers my stats ... example: surgery date, weight on surg. day, arm size, chest size... etc... and only erased the change... kept the start. I also wrote encouraging words on the mirror too...
Good luck..... Chris

Ah yes, the wonderful 'cutting my own toenails' feeling. I remember it well.
I loved the first time i flew and didnt need a seat belt extender. No going through the stick thin beautifully presented air hostess shouting, "seat ** needs an extender". The seat of shame!!
Congratulations to both of you!!

Mountaingal reacted to 2-Liter in 3 Things I Haven't Done In Years
On a Sunday afternoon 10 weeks ago the Harsh reality that I was Very Quickly heading for the Grave or a Nursing home hit me. My chest was aching, shortness of Breath, feeling of Doom and Despair running through my Brain. All of those poor food choices and lack of being active had finally caught up to me. I had been to a Seminar for the Surgery a month earlier and found out that even though I had insurance my plan had opted out of Bariatric Surgeries. I took the Blaring Hint and changed my eating habits thinking that until i could have the Surgery I would at least eat like I had already gone through with it. That Sunday shook me out of my Comfort Zone and put me in action within 3 days later the flight was booked and deposit was made.
Fast Forward 10 weeks and 73 pounds off I completed 3 basic tasks yesterday I hadn't done years.
1) I tied my shoes "Drum Roll Please" while they were on my feet!!!
2) I walked 2 miles Continuous
3) I comfortably cut my own toe nails (a gross thing to be Happy about I know) but honestly this alone is a Victory.
I would recommend to all those that don"t have the finances or are waiting for approval to start today working towards eating portions that you will be eating after Surgery. 7 days into a liquid diet I realize that my body was lying to me when it said I couldn't survive on liquids alone. I am now looking forward to many more Personal Victories.

Mountaingal reacted to ConnieY in Looking for someone over 50. Sleeve surgery coming up on the 17th. Tuesday
I'm 52. 5'7" my highest weight was 287. I was on a 6 month program for my insurance and I lost 20lbs. I live in WV. Currently starving on this liquid diet lol. But I've proven to myself that I can do it. I've turned down food offered to me in my face from people who don't know I'm fasting. So pretty good I think.
I'm nervous about getting nauseous and throwing up after surgery. I'm a big baby when it comes to getting sick. Lol

Mountaingal reacted to Julie norton in Post op ladies- what's your smallest dress size after reaching your goal weight?
My take is it depends where you start from. If you are 400 lbs, 200 may be perfect. If you start at 210....
What size you can live at and maintain is my guess.
I go between 10-12 and couldn't be happier!
My highest was 272. Never again!!

Rant away! Great, funny read.
It's so true -- sometimes you just need a coping mechanism, and vegetables and fruit aren't going to cut it. Although, I will say, I had a couple bad times where I grabbed old junk food -- and it didn't taste so great anymore. In a way, it's a good thing that I caved, because now I know it's just "meh" and not worth the splurge. Now I'm getting snooty with my food and only want the best quality bang for my buck.
Exercise doesn't have to be the gym. Can you knock boots and shake it out that way? Always calms me down;-)
