Tired of Answering the Same Questions Over and Over? - Help Requested for Solution!
Mountaingal replied to tcrehm's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
This is a wonderful idea and I have already seen so many great suggestions. Already starting to sound like Alex can get another book out of this! -
Yuck! The odor of improperly, long packed-away clothing.
Mountaingal replied to WLSResources/ClothingExch's topic in The Lounge
I second or by now third the white vinegar. I use it for lots of cleaning things. Might take more than one wash and then drying with a dryer sheet. Myself I find Febreeze is just like spraying something with perfume and in a while the overwhelming smells and the old stale one reappears. Good luck. -
How can I get my family in my corner?
Mountaingal replied to ♥dreamable's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
So very happy for you that you finally had the surgery. Perhaps your family not only understand a little better now about the surgery but understand that this will greatly decrease your chances of their losing you. The shock of your cousin's death at such a young age and with a big family to be raised would affect most people. Heal well and fast and glad you are on the losers bench. -
So far it is under the chin for me too. Really noticed it in the mirror when I had my hair cut yesterday. Still a way to go though so it may change.

Great idea. Thank you so much. Please keep those recipes coming.

Somebody in the kitchen across from my office is cooking toast!
Mountaingal replied to KindaFamiliar's topic in Rants & Raves
Vegemite, marmite, when you are hooked you are hooked. Once in a while it just has to be had on toast. Other times spread on lettuce will do. Toast of all kinds is on of my weaknesses. Looked at the bread in the store today and said "no way"! -

Weight gain Pre-op
Mountaingal replied to kristenkek's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
They say stress causes hormone changes that cause weight gain. Maybe the stress of this upcoming huge event is to blame. I agree with perforce, how can they refuse the surgery due to weight gain when you have been approved. I am sure your team has seen this before. If you are really scared call the Drs office and talk to someone. Maybe the y woudl have you go on the liver shrink diet sooner. Good luck. -
Congratulations.

Decide not to have surgery?
Mountaingal replied to MarciaN's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I have lost weight and regained it over and over again. I even kept it off ( 80 lbs) for 8 yrs once and thought I had licked the problem. Not so, gradually it came creeping back. When life is busy, or major stresses happen it was very hard to remain focused in the right way on my weight as well as not to use food for comfort. Now I have a tool that reminds me not to eat when I am stressed, busy etc etc. I wish I had done this years ago.Even if there is some regain down the road (I hope not) I believe I will always remain closer to a normal weight no matter what life throws at me. I cook at lot for others and that in itself makes life harder for those of us that love food. A small portion of what I make for them is just fine and greatly enjoyed these days. -
Re: New Endoscopic Sleeve Gastroplasty
Mountaingal replied to banded2004's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Since they don't remove part of your stomach is this surgery any different to Gastric Plication except it is fastened from the inside instead of with a laproscopic surgery? -

Where are you getting it done crochet queen? It is not yet approved in Mexico or it wasn't in July. I hunted all over the place to try and find this surgery without going 1/2 way round the world. There is a Dr In FL that is doing it as part of a hernia repair. Must be some way to get round the non approved yet factor but he and hospital down there are both very expensive. Good luck to anyone who gets it and let us all know how it goes. -
We are finally in!

My ass hurts when I sit too long, I'm f'ing freezing when the temps dip below 64 and
Mountaingal replied to LipstickLady's topic in Rants & Raves
I remember always being cold the last time I lost weight (before I slowly regained it..again). You can learn to live with it and sound as if you will, with no problem. My daughter would say leave VA and move to FL. She used to hate heat but now she lives there she would never come back to the cold. The ass hurting...when I was thin after breaking my coccyx bone I wore bicycling shorts. They are padded and they keep you warm. There are also some things like spanks that have a padded rear end, maybe for the same reason. -
Sorry to hear about the hepatitis but glad in other ways you are feeling better and trying to eat. Is there any treatment for your hepatitis? I hope you take a good Vitamin every day. Do keep us updated as people here truly do care.

Pre sleeve surgery jitters!
Mountaingal replied to Castillo15's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Most of us have these feelings. Of course need for more surgeries does depend on how much you lose and what your skin is like not to mention your purse if your insurance will not pay. Being in my 60's I'm not thinking of plastics as it doesn't matter that much to me and I do not have hundreds of pounds to lose. I just want to be healthier and more comfy moving this body around. That said my face is getting wrinkled and I feel I look older but I'll try and think of those wrinkles as happy lines for my new body! -
Waiting for approval

Support after Sleeve?
Mountaingal replied to bbrookmedic's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Yes you may need some help with some things around the house for a little while. Hopefully you don't have a a child small enough they need lifting. Stock up on anything heavy you might need to buy eg cat litter , dog food and have them on hand. My husband vacuumed for me other than that I just avoided doing things I did not feel would be wise right after surgery. You will have all of here for moral support. When is your surgery scheduled for?
