Check out all the bariatric pal surgeons they have several choices for you. I had my surgery through them and could not be happier. They take such great care of you that I remember the whole thing as much as a wonderful vacation as a trip for surgery.

Gateway "drug"

Hope you are safe and not eating too many almonds. They get to me as well. Have to portion them out carefully. Good non perishable protein choice though. -
Rescheduled Mini Gastric Bypass
Mountaingal replied to tanyamann32's topic in Mini Gastric Bypass Surgery Forum
What a wonderful attitude you have about this delay. How nice that your thoughts are for the person needing the emergency surgery rather than ranting and raving after I am sure being on a pre-op diet etc. Good luck to you next week and let us know how it goes. -
Congratulations and how very wonderful to be sharing this with your husband.

I so love smoked salmon and find it is very filling. Your handiwork there looks most tempting.

Explaining surgery to kids?
Mountaingal replied to katie09/21/2016's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Due to kids great ability to both not understand things fully (hey that's why they are kids) and to spread their understanding of things I agree that an explaination about having your stomach fixed might work very well. Of course you can't eat reg food as your stomach is healing. As time goes by and they ask more questions you can go to full truth about WLS or the simple explaination now your stomach is fixed you don't feel you need to need all the time. It is happier and not growling for food. The explaination needs to fit the age of the child. Yes though most definitely make sure they you know you will be just fine. -
A definite must try. They look delicious. Thanks for posting.

My friend had a TT 7-8 yrs before WLS. It did not cause any complications and actually seems to have helped her not have so much loose skin as many of us do. Her tummy was far tighter before surgery than most of us are.

So sorry to hear your surgery was such an ordeal. One of the reasons we go for plication is the ease of surgery and recovery. Glad to hear you rae doing better now and starting to see weight loss. I am enjoying the weight loss so much I have also wondered if I should have chosen the VSG. I couldn't imagine feeling this good. But like you I am happy to still have all my stomach. Additionally I have a post stroke husband who requires care and I didn't feel I could bounce back fast enough from VSG to take proper care of him and have no help. Please keep us updated on your progress.

Gastric Plication - Results
Mountaingal replied to meve3681's topic in Gastric Plication Surgery Forum
meve3681 So nice to hear of your success. I had plication last July . I have lost 60 lbs (always been a slow loser) and do still have restriction. I am very happy with my surgery. I just didn't want something as invasive as some of the others rae and really had no desire at my age to get really thin. I wish plication would become more popular as it deserves more consideration. In Europe it is very popular. Stefistan...I was hoping for POSE or endoscopic plication as well but finally gave up waiting. Neither of those options were legally approved in Mexico when I had my surgery last year. Both were hard to find and very expensive in the US. My ins did not cover anything at all in the WLS line so Mexico was my only option. Butterflyvan. I wonder if your POSE could be revised to plication. Where did you have your surgery done? -
PUTTINGINTHEWORK.....how are you doing? How did the surgery go and how is the weight loss progressing? Not many of us to chat with and encourage each other.

Do I really need a passport?
Mountaingal replied to WitchySar's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Must be getting tougher. My friend and I had our surgeries done in Tijuana in July 2015 and didn't need passports. -
Surgery in Tijuana

I had my surgery with Bariatric Pal and their plans worked wonderfully. As Henry said two night in the surgical center and two more in their recovery house. I did arrive late the night before surgery as was put up at the recovery house for that night and then taken for surgery the next day. I traveled to the east coast with one plane change (overnight) on day 5 with no problem. Good luck with your surgery. -
Bariatricpal Team Mexico COMMUNICATION amazing.
Mountaingal replied to pegrae's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I am doing very well thank you Pegrae. Maybe Bariatric Pal needs to host a reunion/vacation get together for their happy patients. I am sure they would love to see us all again as much as we would enjoy seeing them. -
Greek yogurt and scrambled eggs come to mind as things I had pretty soon after surgery. Don't rush it as your stomach may not be ready for much past a liquid stage.

Bariatricpal Team Mexico COMMUNICATION amazing.
Mountaingal replied to pegrae's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Pegrae I so totally agree. I had my surgery almost a yr ago with Bariatric Plan and nothing could have made the experience any better than the way they take care of you. I look back with excitement on my trip and think of it more as a vacation than a surgical experience. I had such a good time. -
Major NSV. Probably one of the best feel good ones so far.
Mountaingal replied to LipstickLady's topic in Rants & Raves
What a wonderful achievement to have gained all that self confidence and to have the energy to do this.I am sure those folks in WV will be so very grateful. I too have been collecting things for them all week. I live just by the VA WV border about 40 mins from the devastated area. We were told yesterday they don't want more donations at the min as they have no place to store them. However, I expect churches (not FEMA or the Red Cross) will still accept them. Going to work on checking that out. Roads are so bad in some places is it very hard to get in and out. I hope you are as proud of yourself as the people are grateful to you. Certainly not a NSV you could ever have expected or planned. -
Jansluv if you want something down the road that is not so invasive try looking into Plication. I am very happy with the results I have from it and spent 1/2 what your balloon costs by having it done in Mexico. The first few weeks were dead simple compared to what you describe.

How long is the waiting period for surgery in Mexico?
Mountaingal replied to fancypants67's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I had my surgery through Bariatric Pal with Dr Jesus Lopez. Whichever of their surgeons you chose you could not be in better hands from the min you get there till you are ready to go home. Like being with a loving family. -
Spouses... jealousy
Mountaingal replied to jccanada's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Is your husband on meds and getting regular care for his PTSD? If so this change in behaviour is something that should be mentions to his care providers.Changeis very hard on those dealing with issue like PTSD and who don't feel "normal" in the first place. Maybe he is wondering who wnats to be with him let alone a gorgeous thin woman. They have always said losing weight is a sign that shows when people are ready to move on. I am sorry you and he are gong through this and that you find a way to be more comfortable with each other again. -
Has anyone used Dr. Ponce de Leon directly, with no coordinator?
Mountaingal replied to tinkershells's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I may be wrong but I would think without a co-ordinator all you have is a booked surgery date like making a Drs appt in the US by phone. You probably need to call and find out and maybe backtrack and do this with some help from a co-ordinator. -

Family on board for Mexico?
Mountaingal replied to Jdubwife's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Your best resource is right here at Bariatric Pal. They offer it all and are so easy to deal with. Once you get in touch with them they are right there at the end of your computer or by phone. You can have skype chats with them and the Drs you might consider. Hope your husband gets on board mine did after 5 yrs of not wanting me to do it! -
go and check out the gym and see how you feel there. Talk to the trainers and get a feel for the place. I have fibromyalgia and needed to take the seniors only classes when I was barely 40. I felt embarrassed but once people talked to me I got tremendous support and understanding. Take that step out of your comfort zone and check the place out. Might end up being your home from home! Good luck.
