Losing my previous Deposit and Switching to Bariatric Pal
Mountaingal replied to KSNurse's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I am not in charge of his scheduling but I have just about no doubt you can get the date you want in Nov this far in advance. He is very warm and caring and so is his staff. All but one spoke English and she (new employee) was going to school to learn English. I had NO pain whatsoever. You will be up and walking before you leave the clinic! Every word Bariatric Pal says in the their info turned out to be true. -

Do you have any vitamin recommendations Alex? -
Losing my previous Deposit and Switching to Bariatric Pal
Mountaingal replied to KSNurse's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
You will not regret switching to Bariatric Pal. They take incredible care of you and you never feel alone for a min. I am sure they will do everything they can to accommodate you date wise. My friend and I only waited 3-4 weeks for our surgeries once the decision was made. Which Dr are you using? We used Dr Lopez and were very happy with him. They will have you up in no time and walking round Tijuana like a mini vacation. -

How did you feel 1 week out after Gastric Plication Weight Loss Surgery?
Mountaingal replied to No1234567's topic in Gastric Plication Surgery Forum
meve3641 glad you are doing so well. Shame plication is not more popular here. I am from Europe where it is far more often recommended than here and there seem to be far more positive results reported than here. -
How Do You Set Your Goals?
Mountaingal replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I really want to go to Rockies next year and to be able to walk/hike without all the extra weight. I started walking every day back in Feb. Two miles a day is now often 6-7 miles total during a day including the walking I do around my property. That goal was a big part of deciding to have surgery as I knew even with a year or more I wouldn't take off and keep enough weight. I didn't set an actual weight loss goal. I just take it day by day and will see where I am comfy and can stay. -
I love Swai. This post reminded me I haven't seen any locally lately. Innersurfergirl, maybe the parchment stops the fish from sticking to the foil as some fish does. Just a guess.

My dad and his wife....
Mountaingal replied to choosehope's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Choosehope you are far from alone with this one. I am in the same position with my son and his wife. I know she would not approve and for years anything even a sneeze would be the result of my poor choice! I mentioned to her about medical quality Protein shakes with one regular meal as a way to lose some weight and got a huffy "whatever you want" answer. No chance of a conversation about it. I'd like to tell my son as you would your dad but hate the idea of him keeping a secret from his wife! Now I don't see my son often and eat with him less frequently and am wondering if questions will come up at Thanksgiving.Time will tell. Are you near your father and will eating with them be an issue? Oh these judgemental people........I wish you good luck with this tough decision. -
As others have said only your Dr can answer this one. Some people do no liquid diet and eat up to the night before surgery and others are on a liquid diet for weeks. Good luck.

What do you say?
Mountaingal replied to Adrianabelle's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
You can always get support here. We understand. Try and talk more to those in your circle that support you. I didn't tell many people as I knew I'd get no support from some of my family. In fact I'd get the opposite. I was doing this no matter what they thought. My two daughters and husband are there any time I need a boost or a congratulations. You are doing what is right for you and your health and yes that diabetes should improve. -

How did you feel 1 week out after Gastric Plication Weight Loss Surgery?
Mountaingal replied to No1234567's topic in Gastric Plication Surgery Forum
Now five weeks out and feeling good. Weight is coming off slowly which is what I had expected. No almost instant big losses with plication more like that turtle plodding along. That is fine by me. Wonderful not to feel so hungry and want to nibble.Weigh myself once a week and see about a 2pound loss each week..Eating small quantities of "normal" foods now though some things don't appeal so I will try them later. Following all the directions..protein first..then little bits of veggies and fruits and carbs last. For me this surgery has been a good choice. -
Psych eval was um...
Mountaingal replied to Sajijoma's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Glad you passed and things will keep moving forward for you. -
Your picture looks incredibly good. One good surgeon must have been working on one great body. Rest, heal and enjoy the body you have worked so hard to get.

Psych eval was um...

Good points go walking. I had a friend that was turned to due to lack of adequate care for her bi-polar. That said they would reconsider her if she pursued some counseling. -

How much praise can I dump on Bariatric Pal Mexico?
Mountaingal posted a topic in Gastric Plication Surgery Forum
Certainly not enough for the wonderful life changing experience they led me through. If you haven't made a choice yet or know anyone that is thinking about surgery you could not do better than to book with Bariatric Pal. They did every thing they promise when you read through their description of what they offer and a whole lot more. The caring expressed from the min I filled out the questionnaire on line till the surgery was over and I was heading home was incredible. They were there every step of the way by e-mail, by phone and in the hospital and recovery house. Every little need was taken care of and often before I even knew there was a need. It is true you are never left alone. Not only did I get wonderful, pain free surgery but I also got to see a lot of Tijuana and learn a lot of the history of the area thanks to Herman who was assigned to "be my companion" till I was ready to come home. They make sure you are able to communicate with anyone who is not fluent in English but in general everyone speaks English at some level. This whole surgical experience could not have been made any easier or run any smoother. I used Dr Jesus Lopez who was extremely caring and reassuring, even came to the recovery house to see me before I headed you. Please don't be afraid of going to Mexico for surgery and if you do I could not recommend Bariatric Pal more highly. Thank you to the whole team. -
Good luck with the road you are about to travel. Lots of help and support to be found here. This is a life changing decision and so worth it.

What was the final straw to decide this?
Mountaingal replied to limichelle34's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I decided next year is the year I will finally see the Rockies. I want to walk in the mountains and enjoy the trip without carrying a lot of extra weight every extra step. Then I thought this is the time for me. If I leave it any longer it may be too late. I have taken care of others my entire adult life and have cared for a post stroke husband for the last 4 yrs. I had wanted surgery 5 yrs ago but my husband's Drs were not in favor of it (like it was their business) and since I would be self pay I did not fight for it. This time I was going to have surgery whether my husband liked it or not. Guess what...he was right on board with me after seeing me work so hard to care for him all these years. -
Good luck now your choice is clear and surgery is scheduled.
