At over four months, found out I was taking my supplements all wrong...
Mountaingal replied to VDB's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Ever thought of using a calcium powder? Comes unflavored and you can add it to anything or flavored. the flavored ones make a pretty good addition to a glass of water. Not expensive either if you look around. It is a lot to keep up with. -
Electrolytes may help or as was said above potassium (banana), some people also benefit from extra magnesium. Hope you find and answer. Charlie Horses are nasty.

Pre-pre-surgery - interested in adding protein shakes
Mountaingal replied to jesslla's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Jesslla I find the powdered shake mixes work better for me than the ready made. No idea why. I have tried lots I did not like as they are grainy or chalky but I love the unjury shakes and the Body Lab vanilla which you can find in lots of stores. If you go to ebay you can find lots of offers of mixed sample packages and you also see special offers here that people tell us about. You do need to watch the carb to Protein ratio. Some of the shakes mixes, especially the ones advertised as Meal Replacements are low on protein and just loaded with carbs. Hopefully you will enjoy trying new things, textures and flavors and your consult will go well. -
Sphincter of Oddi Dysfunction
Mountaingal replied to chasingpolaris321's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
My daughter has the same problem since her gallbladder removal . I will ask her what she uses for pain control as she can't take narcotics. I had my surgery in Mexico and they used Tramadol for pain relief along with an NSAID...worked wonderfully. -

Wedding is 12/5 - Surgery Date is 10/5 - ...How much weight could I lose?
Mountaingal replied to betrthnever's topic in The Gals' Room
After reading your previous post I am glad to hear you are choosing to have the surgery since it was approved.Good luck working on the dress issue. -
Congratulations. I am sure your NUT and/or OBGYN can help you with any dietary changes you will need to offer your baby the best prenatally. I am sure with good Vitamins, all the Protein you are taking in all will be fine. May be earlier than you expected but this is what you were hoping for.

It is a very hard procedure to find. I had wanted this and searched for months and came up with all but nothing in this country. It is not available in Mexico though it is in some european nations. I ended up getting a plication instead of waiting till this is more readily available. There is a Dr in FL who does the same thing but he combines it with repairing a hiatal hernia. Pretty pricey though.

Yeah approved for a revision!...But getting married in December...thoughts?
Mountaingal replied to betrthnever's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Ask your Dr as well as the folks here. Looks like you would have 8-9 weeks to recover if you had surgery at the end of Sept. The dress well that is another thing. Would probably need altering again but what's that compared to starting out your new life as a married woman on the road to so much better health. What does the groom think? -
If you are self pay I would think you could get a Dr in Mexico to do it. They seem far more understanding than Drs ruled by ins co's.

Big changes in life tend to cause reactions like those you mentioned. If shopping makes you happy go for it. These feelings should pass in time. Looks like you are enjoying good weight loss.

Mountaingal replied to Sunshine3073's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I don't know about Actigall but I know Prilosec comes as suspension. -
Freaking out, ease my worries
Mountaingal replied to Adrianabelle's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Can't imagine surgery costing anything like $100-200,000 unless there were major complications. At that price Mexico would be a very valid option. even if you have ins would be cheaper than the co-pay. Hope your only surprise is a nice one and this will cost less than you expect. -
There is protein in tubes as well. As others have said it is doable but far from enjoyable. Some of the protein waters are quite nice, Vitamin World and GNC both have them. Liquid yogurt was nice after surgery as well a protein shakes.Good luck.

Losing my previous Deposit and Switching to Bariatric Pal
Mountaingal replied to KSNurse's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Oh I hope that works for her watchoutinmexico. -
I will be six weeks post op on fri. I am eating pretty much anything I fancy in small quantities and chewed well. Generally I have stayed with simple lightly seasoned foods. I don't seem to feel attracted to highly spiced things yet. I am a little bored with always looking for protein but that may be remedied with some new recipes. Just plodding along slowly. Glad you are doing so well.

Meve3681 How are doing now? Still losing weight and happy with your choice? Jannelton how re you doing now? Must be 7 weeks or so for you now. I am feeling pretty good. The energy level is coming up and in fact it is probably higher than it has been in some time. I am doing fine with small meals and seem to be able to eat anything chewed well and in small quantities. The bod is getting smaller and the scale is creeping down. Best thing I have done for myself in years.

Losing my previous Deposit and Switching to Bariatric Pal
Mountaingal replied to KSNurse's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Dr Lopez called me within 1/2 hr of my initial inquiry. You can pay the deposit right through Bariatric Pal , You will also hear from Dr T who I think is an internal medicine Dr and reviews your health questionnaire. I know they are expecting or already have a new nutritionist. All your questions will be answered post haste. They will pick you up at the airport, get you back there and spoil you in between. The ice pops in Mexico are great and so is the liquid yogurt. Much nicer than ours. We you go back to recovery house from the surgical clinic you will have the best broth you have tasted.Had surgery approx a month after the initial contact. Did a two week pre-surgical diet. I am sure anyone at Bariatric Pall will talk to you any time you have a question including Dr Lopez. He is so nice, makes you feel right at ease. Have you looked up his FB page? I had surgery on July 17th and came home on the 21st. Two nights at the clinic and two at the recovery house. Since I got in late on the 16th I spent that night at the recovery house as well. So I guess that makes me almost 6 weeks post surgery. Anything else I can help you with just ask away, -
How many calories, fat, carbs and protein should you consume in the first month after the sleeve surgery
Mountaingal replied to Clementine Sky's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Sounds like you are doing well for being less than a week out. Focus on healing and taking in what you can at this point. Some people are still on Clear liquids that soon after surgery. I couldn't eat much at that point and trying to get in enough liquid was a struggle. I am sure at your first checkup/visit with your NUT you can get more complete info. Good luck.
