Violent diarrhea help!!
anamul replied to karmasprincess's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i have been having a HELL of a time with this....almost 4 weeks out. Will have normal runs daily but about every 4th day I get so ILL that I cant do anything but stay by the bathroom. I was told to keep up with my calcuim chews -- even a couple extra a day. Take fiber supplement - gross and you would think that would make it worse but I have had 3 different docs tell me that. Also, there is a product called Good Belly they sell at whole foods not sure where else that is a intense probiotic. I am now on a antibiotic in case it is an intestinal infection -- GOD HELP ME!!! I can handle the daily runs - liquid in - liquid out but these bouts of extremeness are wearing me out and making me wish i had never had the surgery. Good Luck and hope you get better. It is a comfort to know I am not the only one. btw, Tucks medicated pads help with the rawness. sorry for TMI but thats what this board is for. -
So this Thursday will make 4 weeks post op and I am still have severe bouts of diarrhea and some pain around my largest incision. I will spare you the details but will let you know that the diaherra IT IS NOT NORMAL and yes I have talked to my surgeon - he has been absolutely no help. In fact, I would like to speak to the so called Bariatric Center of Excellence this staff belongs to because they have been nothing but subpar. For instance, today when I called they said they had no record of me ever being in thier office - NICE!!! Anyway, will not rant about that. I am learning that at this point I can still only tolerate liquids and nothing else. Luckily my appetite has not come back so this is ok. I like my liquids for the most part. Anytime I eat mushies I have uncontrollable diarrhea - and then am missing work. (pepto, maalox, calcuim, etc does nothing) I am at the stage where I am in TEARS and fear I have made the wrong decision. I know this is a common feeling so am trying to NOT overract and just thinking of the RULES and how I can follow them better and that "this too shall pass". Luckily I am losing weight ( how could i not be when everything runs right through me) but am feeling that the weight loss is not even worth it... I just need to be patient, be more strict in following all the rules, and getting my FMLA paperwork signed so I dont have to be so stressed about my job. Anyway, I am seeking words of encouragement!!

My port site has been really buggin me today. I had surgery 6/25. I had been sleeping on the couch as it was easier to get in and out of but have been back in the bed which is very soft over the weekend so figure my innards are just readjusting but boy is it tender! Hopefully everything is OK! I had my 2 wk post op check - dr didnt do much but remove steri strips...but he seemed like everything was going fine. -
Hello fellow realizers! This the real deal!! I have posted a few times but never really did give you any information about myself so wanted to send out an introduction Here are my stats: 35 5' 206 highest weight ever 01/08 Went to more than one surgeon before choosing the one that did my procedure 39 BMI 199 06/12/09 188 07/01/09 I was banded 6/25/2009 - the day Michael Jackson died 5 incisions Hiatel Hernia Repair I did not do a pre op diet Insurance paid after 6 mo supervised diet (i was already doing this at the Joslin Diabetes Center prior to even thinking of the lap band and was also going to weight watchers - so it was easier to provide the documentation for me than others), Letters of Recommendations from PCP & and in my case, my diabetiologist who was extremely supportive of me, I had to a go to a couple appointments to see my surgeon, see a psychiatrist, see an additioanal nutrition, and go to a couple seminars. Plus, show a 5 year weight history, proof of type 2 diabetes, proof of sleep apnea, & several boold tests/choloestoral results Married to a great man who was once very heavy but lost at least 100lbs in his 20's so he totally understands weigh issues - we have know each other 12 yrs, been together 10 yrs, and married 4 yrs. No kids. 2 Cats. We live in Baltimore City. I am a Medical Library at a local university and am basically the School of Social Works librarian so I have approx 1000 people I serve as a librarian. I truly love my job. I was born and raised in Pratt Kansas. Moved to Tulsa at 19, the to Port Aransas Texas, then to Topeka Kansas, then to Portland Oregon, then to Kansas City Kansas, then Emporia Kansas, then back to Kansas City Missouri, then landed in Baltimore MD and love it here! I love to travel, be the center of attention, take care of others, listen to music, socialize, and help others to be happy. I am SO READY TO DO THIS -- ready to look the way I feel in my mind!! ready to not be dependent on medication! actually I have a list of 100+ reasons why i want this!!!!!! I will be figuring out the rules of the board as I go. <3 Anna

I fill a dutch over pot full with Water and bring it just to a boil - where you can see it starting to bubble. I turn off the heat and add 3 luzianne teabags for about 15 minutes then take them out ( you dont want the tea to be bitter) then I add a 1/2 cup of sweet n low and poor into a gallon sized pitcher -- feel the rest up with ice or water - I like my tea fairly weak but hate it when it gets BITTER. Hope this helps - I had to ask my friends from Alabama how to make GOOD TEA!
