Active, active, active is what I was growing up & then damaged a knee in my soph. yr of college and the weight started to pile on.  Did all the new fad diets and they worked for awhile, but never long term.  During this process I have realized I am an emotional eater and deal with stress by filling the mouth.  I have hit a milestone in my life and embrace that I can never go back and relive life, I can only go forward and live it now.  I lost a good friend in February, she had the gastric bypass yrs ago and had suffered depression and continual stomach issues.  The depression (undiagnosised) was there prior to the surgery and she did not reach out to her support system to help her.  She was always there to help others and didn't reach out when she needed it the most.  A hard lesson learned, take help when help presents itself.  I have thought long and hard about this decision and am feeling a bit anxious for it to be over, the surgery part.  With the extra weight my knees have really taken a beating, bad enough to consider replacement in the next 15 years.  Not only do I want my health to improve, but my self respect along with it.  You all know what I am talking about.  My best friend from college is taking the trip with me to the hospital tomorrow, I want her to experience this due to she suffers the same as I.  I look forward to posting my after surgery follow up and for those of you considering the next step, get busy. I feel more empowered today than I have in a real long time, taking control of my life and moving to a chapter in my life.  Bumps, brusies, victories and all.  Bring it on.
