Banded 10-6-09 - Scared and Failing
Agnes replied to bandedgirl75's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
YOU ARE ALL NOT ALONE...and honestly I havent been on here in a while and just hopped on bc i needed some motivation and a kick in the butt... and this post made me feel better that I am not going through all this alone.. I was a lower BMI patient and have always lost weight VERYYYY slowly.. I lost about 22 pounds and was banded July 8th, 2009! So, even though I do feel better in clothes..etc.. i feel like a failure.. I feel like I should have been at goal by now.. I regret telling as many people as a did.. i def feel like i get the "shouldnt you be skinny by now?" looks! I am trying to be patient and know I will get there.. I am scheduled for another fill tomorrow.. You are not alone..none of us are! Good luck!! I dont remember the PW to my ticker so its not updated! LOL -
So good to know I am not alone!! lol

I was banded on 7/8/09... and I am concerned that things are getting 'stuck' and I am PBing much to often! I know at times, its MY fault..too big of a bite, not chewing enough, eating too fast..etc. HOWEVER... I am getting frustrated, bc there are times that i CHEW CHEW CHEW and the food still gets stuck! One day, I can eat eggs, chicken..etc. and the next day..I cant! I week, I have NO problem, the next I feel like everything gets stuck! What gives! I dont want my band to slip! Thanks!
-
* The chewed food mixed with saliva comes back up. Burps dont help...half the time, i feel like its too stuck to burp..
-
My concern is that too much PBing will cause my band to slip!! def dont want that to happen!!
-
it does! Thank you!!
-
THAT COULD BE!!!! however, there are also times where the 2nd bite gets stuck...so frustrating! I wish a red light would go off or something..LOL
-
no, i never PB in between meals.. but isnt ANY type of PBing not good? and i'm sorry...but what do you mean by "Just make sure not to eat around the band"??
-
Thanks for the feedback! How can chewing TOO well be be bad?? and how come PB'ing during a meal is less worrysome than between meals.
-
* yeah, i def eating more that a styrofoam coffee cup size, LOL I mean, i dont eat ALOT...but I feel like i should be filling on less? i think it depends on WHAT I am eating. I eat alot of salad. my PB is usually during the meal. i was last filled Dec 4th
-
My band is 11cc.. thats the wierd thing...i think I am def eating more that the "handful" amount? I guess i will just have to be careful and really concentrate on the eating... OMG..and I def had some EMBARRASSING moments in public!! LOL Thanks for the reply

I'm pregnant!!! Now what???
Agnes replied to AggiePaige's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I asked alot of questions before i got banded (since we are gonna have a family, but dont yet) Basically, your OBGYN will determine if your baby is getting enough nutrients. you might need to get some unfilled or completely unfilled... but def talked to both your surgeon and OBGYN. Then when you are done, you can get filled and start losing the weight again! Good luck and congrats!!! -
what's up with gaining?!
Agnes replied to fransbeenbanded's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was on liquids for 3-4 weeks.. i was warned that once I started eating solids..i would gain.. but dont look at is as "what am I doing wrong?" The way it was explained to me is basically..when you are on liquids for a longer period of time..you empty your bowels..so its not that you gained 'fat'...youa re just filling your bowels back up! Which will add a few lbs back onto your scale! Hope that puts you at ease somewhat!! xoxo -
What happens if I get pregnant?
Agnes replied to RobbiedollKY's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
* I researched this alot before be banded and asked many questions! (bc we dont have any kids yet and def plan to) basically, there answer to me was...absolutely no problem to get/be pregnant. Your band will just be adjusted to fit the nutrition needs of you and your baby. and it will be THAT much easier to get the baby weight off! Hope that helps! -
5 of the sweetest words...

Isnt it the best feeling?! I lost 15 pounds (my weight loss is pretty slow since I was a lower BMI patient) but finally, its at the point where you can notice.. My husband tells my face is slimming and I have gotten several comments at work already and its only 9am! A small little compliment really goes a long way! -
exactly! I hate to hear comments from family... WTF do strangers or coworkers think its ok? its ok...soon enough you will have the last laugh!!
-
It is good to see that I am not alone! Everyone at work looks at me weird when i am done eating bc I always hiccup..and they are painful! but it happens..even when i eat slow!
-
I had the FLU since last Tuesday (i wasnt vomitting, which is good) however, when I finally starting feeling better on Saturday, I picked up a Bacterial Infection and had a horrible cough! If I am violently coughing, can this hurt the band??

that makes me feel so much better! THANK YOU! -
Those who are successful...what are you eating in a typical day? Do you EVER snack or eat something in between meals? Does the "1 cup" rule mean that for the Protein and veggies combined? I write down everything i eat...but busy days..life...i find that could could def be making better choices. I am trying to combine Weight Watchers with my band. (when I did WW years ago, I pretty much ate anything and lost..as long as I stayed within my points) Can that be the same for the band? Can I have a WW brownie? I want to see what others are eating everyday...esp those who are very successful! Thanks!
