I NEED help or a swift kick in the A**
Agnes posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my first fill 4cc.. no restriction. Second fill 5.5cc total. Many (not all) things got stuck in the beginning, so i concentrated more on chewing and eating slowly.) I think I def had restriction. However..... i have not lost ANY weight in the past few weeks (not gained either) but NO LOSS. If at certain times certain foods get stuck, does this def mean I am at restriction? I am def eating much less than before but still no loss. Does this mean it is WHAT I am eating? There are some things I eat that arent the best option, but I eat much less, so is that ok? it is THIS what is hindering my loss? Do I need a fill? If I don't, why do i feel hungry (sometimes) in between meals? Or is it because I am not eating the right foods to keep my full and satisfied? I was banded 7/8 and have only lost 11 pounds. and at this point (according to Dr. Ortiz) I should be down 20-25. If you can help, or even give me a swift kick in the a**, I'd GREATLY apprceiate it! I know you all are very busy! Also...is it normal to be able to eat ALOT of lettuce? I make salads, but feel like I can put down alot of romaine lettuce! Thank you! -

Stupid question regarding "one cup of food"
Agnes replied to AggiePaige's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
ok, def not a stupid question..lol So the ENTIRE meal should be no more than one cup?? -
OK...long story short... I hiccup almost everytime when I am done eating.. what gives? Does this mean I am full or ate too much? does this happen to anyone else?
-
I guess I'd rather be "hiccupy" then burpy, lol
-
YES!!! Exactly like that!!!
-
..hmm i will keep that in mind.. and concentrate on how fast I eat!

ok...On Monday 8/24, I got my 2nd fill..and am at 5.5cc in my 11cc band. It is normal for the first few days/week to be really tight? I know that 'certain foods' just dont agree with the band, but it seems that most of everything that I have tried to eat has gotten stuck! I am eating slowling, taking small bites, chewing well and still...stuck. The only thing that has gotten down without a problem are crunchy preztels. The stuck pain sucks! and it hurts.. I am def NOT getting enough food in. I read different threads on the subject.. but dont know for me personally.. is the food getting stuck bc of the type of food it is? is it normal to be tighter the first week? Should I give it more time? I am considering getting a slight unfill...but then I am afraid..what if i am currently at the perfect restriction and I just need to wait and learn what foods are good for me? I have absolutely no problem with liquids... the food I ate/tried to eat so far are: scrambled eggs (stuck!) tiny potatoes bites (stuck) crackers/saltines (went down just fine) crunchy pretzles (went down just fine) orzo (went down just fine, however I had a tiny bit) chicken salad (fine one day, stuck the next..) chicken thigh/drumstick (VERY stuck, then again the chicken was a little dry, which I hear makes is harder to go down?) I love chicken and tried a couple different days to eat it....stuck! soft scallops (stuck) toaster strudel (went down fine) I dont know if to think its certain foods or what? Is this normal or should I possibly get a slight unfill..? thanks!

2nd fill..most things get stuck!
Agnes replied to Agnes's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I dont know..maybe? I was on 2 days of liquids.. maybe I needed a 3rd? i just got back from the doc..and he didnt want to do an unfill.... he said to give it a few days and it will feel more comfortable. Seeing how certain things went down ok.. he said after a few more pounds lost, it will feel more comfortable. He said dont eat re-heated food (dries it out)..make sure that the chicken is very moist and not dry...take time in between bites. he was not concerned that I was too tight. Last night a salad went down fine..I chewed it ALOT!!!!!! lol I guess some time will tell.. until then making sure I drink my Protein shake and take my mutivitamin! -
2nd fill..most things get stuck!
Agnes replied to Agnes's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The problem is even when i am very aware of how I eat, a majority gets stuck! Well the surgeon's nurse call me back and I told her what was going on and she recommended an unfill... a teeny bit, but def a little bit out. So I go this afternoon... so I keep ya posted! -
2nd fill..most things get stuck!
Agnes replied to Agnes's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
thanks! i am def trying to remember to do that... I have very fine hair as it is! that last thing that I want is to lost it! Yesterday for dinner, I had salad..and NO STUCK! yey! does this mean that i DONT need and unfill? I call the doc/nurse, to get their 2 cents...just in case. I am trying to really concentrate on MY eating habits..maybe its me and not the food? I guess we all have to learn.. -
2nd fill..most things get stuck!
Agnes replied to Agnes's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
* hey! yeah, I am not on here as often as I would like..and when I get home I dont feel like getting on the computer! lol I will try that.. I need to REALLY concetrate on my bites and how fast I am eating.. Maybe I am not eating as slow as I thought ..or taking enough time for that next bite.. you know that make sense, bc when I had chicken alone..stuck.. but the bit of chicken salad i had..had mayo so it went down easier. its only been a few days, so I guess I will get used to it.. I am still gonna call the doc to get his opinion before I rush to get an unfill. But if he think I should, then I will.. Do you find yourself much tighter in the am or early pm? wonder why that is? -

Who has been too tight and stalled out?
Agnes replied to Mommy of two's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
* I am in the same boat as you! I had my first fill...nothing.. second fill I got Monday, was on liquids Monday and Tuesday and today, I could barely eat a few bites of scrambled eggs without getting the stuck feeling. I was told to hold off bc I may still be a tad swollen and things may feel better in a couple days. I have 5.5cc in a 11cc band. I can drink no problem.. but if my eating continues to be 'tiny' than i may have to get a bit removed... Keep us posted how you are doing after the unfill!! -
Not Sure What's Happening
Agnes replied to ~Michelle~'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So glad you posted this bc I was about to post...well pretty much the same thing. I got my first fill 8/12 (4cc) and i could pretty much eat anything... and even if I forgot to REALLY CHEW...it wasnt a problem. my doc said i need more. So, I went back on 8/24 ...I now have 5.5cc total.. and i am experiencing everyhthing listed in this blog! I was on liquids Monday and Tuesday. This morning I ate (literally) a few bites and had that stuck feeling! not pleasurable AT ALL! I waited and tried to take a few TINY bites and CHEW...still the same. I didnt PB, but I did have to spit up some saliva... Liquids go down just fine. I was concerned, but after reading this thread...i realize ..maybe I am just a little swollen still? I dont want to immeditately assume I am too tight and get an unfill. I think this restriction will be perfect (I HOPE!) but hopefully, since I just had the second fill...it'll take some time to adjust and learn what I have can and when? Good luck!! -

yup!! you said it!! FAB!! congrats!! you look FABULOUS!!! and you are in my area! I live outside B-more! and I see you went to Ceasar's in the Poconos, PA! I am from PA and my sister lives in Stroudsburg/Poconos! Small world.. well congrats again! I long journey, but all worth it!!!! -
from checking out many threads... i see that people get filled Very frequently!! and others get filled a couple months apart? I also spoke with a woman (my contact at the OCC, where my surgery will be done) ..and she was only filled 3 times in 3 years and is at her goal of a 95 pound loss... She mentioned that the may depend on the type of band that their surgeon used? Any thoughts?

* also dont forget.. dont base your restriction and amount of cc's on others. everyone is different! you may have great restriction with 4.5...and I may need 7! you never know! good luck!!!
