You are not the odd one out here!!! :success1: You are one of us!!!

I think I'll name mine, my new car. Since there will be no new car in my future after taking out the loan for this!

I was talking to people at work..and seriously they had never heard of them! Okay, they are mostly around 20, but wow..I felt old. Glad to know I'm not crazy... -
I don't try to eat until about 11am. Just have coffee in the morning than really wait until my stomach actually growls. Then I figure it's ready for some food. Eat slow, tiny bites..and savory it.

Hi Everyone, I had my first fill last Wed. (1cc) and and feeling no difference. Felt really good the day after, but it must of been swelling because the feeling went away. I'm starting to get frustrated! I really want to feel this band working, I feel like I'm doing all the work and it's not helping me. Anyone else have this happen? I need some encouragement. Thanks.
-
okay, I see now you were banded two weeks before me.
-
Hi Neenagh, I called to make another appointment. They have to be two weeks apart so |I go back on Nov. 1st. I hope this fill will go better than the last one did. They had to fish around in me a bit, and I came very close to passing out.:faint: How long have you been banded?
-
Good points Jack, I guess in some way as soon as I start eating I want to feel full or sick so I stop. I think I'm eating too much and then get paranoid I'm stretching myself out. I have a 4cc band. I'm not as hungry as I was post band. I'm not patient either. i guess I've just failed so many times at weight loss before that I really need to feel this band in me and know it's working.

Hi Everyone, Just wondering if Dr. Cobourn does your fills himself or if the nurse does? Also do you know the names of the nurses that work there? They are so nice and I don't even know their names. Who do you ask for, if you call in with a question? I know the girls that usually answer the phones are on the other side( not at the unmarked door:) ). Thanks for the help!
-
Thanks for the reply. I don't mind the unmarked door..it would be weird if it had a big sign on it. I'd rather people not know why I'm going there.
-
Thanks Dianne, I needed that today.:grouphug:

Good for you. :welcome: Don't be surprised when all of a sudden you realise you can eat without restriction. The first week you are just so swollen..it's not the band you feel. Your weight will probably plateau now until your first fill. That's the boat I'm in now but my Dr. warned me so I'm not flipping out when the scale no longer is moving. I'm trying very hard to follow the post-op diet. Happy Birthday!! :grouphug: This is the best gift you ever gave yourself.:biggrin1:
-
Good for you!!!! I can't wait until I see those numbers on my scale! Just think never again over 200lbs. You should be so proud of yourself. What a milestone. :biggrin1:

Hey Neenagh, i think the hiatus hernia is very common (especially in people that are overweight) . I had one aswell and heard Dr.Coburn tell the lady beside me in recovery how he fixed hers awell. It never caused me any problems but hey glad to get a little something extra outta all that money I spent.:biggrin1: Funny story...I would be stopping my sister from seeing my hubby naked..just too weird. glad you are both recovering.

SHARE... what you've learned after Banding

Oh my goodness...FAUXNAIF!!! You are 7lbs from goal! You must be so excited and happy. Have you posted any pics? Amazing weight loss!! -
You shouldn't worry. Last November I went to Florida and was scared to death over this...I was 280lb at the time, size 24. I was fine. I flew American Airlines and the seats were fine. Try to get the row that has the escape exit and you'll have more room.

Malice X Girl, "One thing I would change, in the beginning I over ate and I stretched my pouch a bit..." How do you know you stretched your pouch out a bit? Now, I'm scared I've done the same cheating on the pureed diet.:think -
Sounds good.:biggrin1: I probably won't get my first fill until the end of the month, but maybe this will keep me from cheating on the pureed and mushie diets. confession...had pizza and cake today:( (my daughter's 10th birthday). I'm so bad...supposed to be having pureed stuff. Now I just feel guilty.:hurt
-
Surby, ME TOO!!! I keep telling my husband it was the gas after surgery, but now I think that must all be gone, and it's just me. Hopefully first fill will lessen it.

New From WI: Banded 09/19/06
swanny replied to sweet31eve's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Welcome Eve, I was banded on the 15th, so am in basically in the same 'soreness' boat as you. I'm Canadian so no insurance will cover this. I told my husband I'd take it out of our retirement plan because if I don't lose the weight I won't be around for retirement anyway. I ended up taking out a loan. How much did your surgery cost? I paid $15,000. My car better have alot of years left in it!!! Bank will never give me more $. I can tell my swelling has gone down now, because I can consume more. Can't wait until first fill. I talked to my Dr. on Friday and I'm allowed a bit of purred foods....told them there was no way I could choke down anymore protein shakes. And vegtable stock basically has no calories when thats all you have all day. Cream of chicken soup has never tasted so good. -
I was banded on the 15th and my port site is still very tender. Don't worry, your body is just trying to adjust to the shock it received. If you start getting itchy then you know you are healing.

NSV I look forward to, anyone else with me?

I love that you all have my secret fears too!!! I am not alone!!!! -
Hi, I'm taking a little trip state side this week...buffalo-amherst. And I need to know some good places to buy clothes...I'm not quite into the regular sizes yet (size 20). Any suggestions besides hitting Target and walmart? Any ideas would be most welcomed.
-
HEY...Our old navy stores here don't go to size 20! No fair. Thanks for the tips..I'm going to have to keep reminding myself these clothes won't be my size for long so I won't buy much. Also getting stoppped by Canada Customs is no fun either.

Thanks ..I checked out Avenue..and even found an online coupon...will have to check it out. Also looked at the dress barn..I thought they only sold dresses..who knew.:nervous Hopefully, will find some good deals, since I only plan on wearing them a short while till I get down to the next size. Ever been to the outlets on Military Rd. Niagara Falls? Do you know if there are any plus stores in there?
