    I don't want to wait

I'm sure both of you are right. I guess I'm just anxious to get started. I'm just afraid that I might not be approved. And not knowing is what freaks me out a bit because if I don't get approved, then I can't do this (at least not now). There is just no way I can self pay.
  4. So right now, I am in the earliest stage of this whole process. I know I want to do this. But I also know that in order to get approved by my insurance, there's a minimum of a 6-month wait (because they make you complete a 6-month long program before being considered). I don't know if I can wait that long. It seems immature to say that I'm too impatient, but I am. I guess I'm just impatient to start. I feel like I'm wasting time. I know that I'll have to jump through hoops to get approved and I'm not sure I'm up for that. Plus, I'm in the process of getting a new doctor and there's a shortage of PCPs in MA so that will add extra time. I feel a bit trapped here.
  5. Hey girly, I just stumbled upon your profile and thought I would say hi. I am 24 and also from MA...where are you looking into having surgery?? I am going to Lahey Clinic in Burlington and am scheduled for a August 14th surgery, if you have any questions or want to chat feel free to PM me! Talk soon!

  6. Right now I have Tufts, but I'm considering changing companies if it will make this process faster/easier. My choices are BCBS of MA, United Healthcare, Harvard Pilgrim Health Care, or Tufts. I have heard good things about UHC, but idk for sure. Any info on any of these companies would be much appriciated.
  7. That is exactly what I'm hoping for...I know that I binge eat for many reasons and that I haven't been able to stop myself for long. But this way, I'm hoping to be physically stopped from binging since emotionally, I can't stop :blushing:

Highest weight? or weight at surgery?

My highest was 265 at 5'3" and now I think I'm around 260. I'm just starting the process so who knows when/if I'll get approved...Sigh...I can't get banded otherwise

Does anyone have insurance with Tufts?

I hate the idea of waiting another 6+ months! Plus my doctor is on leave for a while, so I won't be able to talk with her until August! I was planning to change doctors at some point here...would this process work with a new doctor? Or should I just wait until mine is back?
  10. Do all insurance companies require 3 years above 40? Or just yours? My weight hasn't been very consistent...although I know that it's always been at least 35

    6 Month Diet Before Approval

I'm new too and I've heard that my insurance requires the 6-month diet. I have to wait until Monday to ask them for sure...I really don't want to wait 6+ months but I don't see any other way. I'm an unemployed student so I can't self pay

Getting approved at 19...was it hard?

I am 19 now and hoping to get approved. I just started the process so I haven't done any paperwork yet or anything...

Does anyone have insurance with Tufts?

I have Tufts Navigator from EMC and I am so afraid that they will turn me down. Is Tufts the one that requires that 6-month program? Or is it the surgeons? I'm brand new to this whole thing, so I need all the info I can get (esp about the insurance company!)
  14. I am also a binge eater and am looking into the lap band. I'm already in counselling, but that isn't doing much good on its own. I am really hoping that I will be able to have the surgery (and soon!). Let me know how yours works out and good luck
  15. I just started researching lap-band and am positive that I want to be banded! But I'm terrified that my insurance won't cover it. I cannot afford it otherwise... I have Tufts Navigator of MA. Does anyone else have tufts or know anything about it?
