  1. Hi everyone

Got my decorations up finally. We had some terrible rainy weather last night. I am glad it has passed today.

Can any of you experienced banders answer a question? Why is the band tighter in the morning then in the evenings? I can barely consume a Protein Shake in the morning but by the afternoon I can eat much more. Is this normal?

  2. It's two days after my 2nd fill and I feel a LOT more restriction (even though I have a lot fewer ccs in my band than others). Had a PB episode when I ate some chicken for dinner last night. And yesterday afternoon I had a small container of yoghurt, which completely filled me up.

Now I'm wondering if I can get in enough food for nutrition's sake!

I thought about that myself, I do take a Multivitamins and have liquid complex b and there are Vitamins in my Protein Shakes. But still I worry because by time I eat the required Protein, I am full and have no room to eat veggies or fruits. But I also know this restriction will probably not last more than a couple weeks before it is gone again, snif, snif

Posted some new pictures. If you want to check them out just check out my album above under the photos tab. Hope everyone has a great day. It's snowing here in Texas. Goodnight.

Amanda, you continue to be our honor student, your weightloss is absolutely amazing. You should do a blog to record all your accomplishments!

  3. Happy Holidays Everyone!

I had my 2nd fill yesterday and I finally feel like I have a band inside me! After feeling absolutely nothing after my first fill, I was beginning to worry he forgot to put one in there! LOL

I now have 5cc in my 10cc band, but my doc says most people need to get up to at least 7cc before it begins to work. I was just curious if this was the case with yours?

  4. Dee, I was originally scheduled for the 2nd fill in December too, but I asked if I could come in sooner. My doctor really likes you to wait 6 weeks between fills, but he will allow you a somewhat shorter time between them.

Deb, I did get my 2nd fill today, I now have 5cc in my 10cc band. It felt much different this time. Whereas I felt nothing at all with the first one, I felt this one right away. I am hoping the three days of liquids will jump start my weight loss again...

  5. I have not been online for a while because I had an infection in the port area and had my port removed 9 days ago. No idea what happened and how it happened, all I know is that it was very painful. Luckily my surgeon was able to clip the tubing so I still have my restriction however I would love to get another fill soon. But a little restriction is still better than no restriction at all, so I am thankful for that. No idea when I will get my port back but I truly hope soon :-)

I am happy that all are doing well, wow Amanda, you have really dropped a serious amount of weight, congratulations!

I am very sorry you had so much difficulty. You are much stronger than me. I think if I had the complications you experienced and had to have that port removed, I would have just given up and had the whole think yanked. I admire your courage and commitment !

  6. Hello everyone! Tomorrow I go for my third fill and can't wait. I was down two more lbs this morning which is great. My sister brought me some of her 16's and a 14 and they all fit. I am so happy, just can't wait til my size 10's can fit. Shouldn't be long. Hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving.

Let us know how your 3rd fill goes and those 10's will begin fitting in no time! Your our September Honor student! LOL

  7. I am so stuck & frustrated right now that I could just scream! and I have! LOL

I have been exercising 60-90 mins. every day (most days twice). Watching my food and still NO MOVEMENT on Mr.Scale:frown::bored::frown::):frown::).

Please share with me what you are doing for exercise? How often and how much time your spending with each workout?

What about food? are u measuring? what is your typical day of eating (breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks).

I really am just disgusted and ready to give up! Grrrrrrrr!

  8. I made it to my THanksgiving goal. I am so happy. My next two goals is to be 206 for Christmas and 204 for new years eve. My next fill should help me with that. Good luck to everyone else. I'm also glad that some of our boys are coming home.

Congrats to you Amanda! I didn't do a Christmas goal, but I will do a New Years Eve and Valentines Day goals. I think these little goals keep me more aware. Good luck to you too!

  9. I saw this article on web MD about wii games, I thought I would post since alot of us banders are either already doing wii or planning on it.

To estimate energy expenditure, they used a standard unit called METs, or metabolic equivalent values. "A MET of 3, for example, means an activity requires three times as much energy expenditure as resting," Miyachi says.

According to AHA guidelines, light-intensity exercise is less than 3 METs, moderate-intensity exercise is 3 to 6 METs, and vigorous activity is more than 6 METs. An adult walking 3 miles an hour on a flat surface expends just over 3 METs, the AHA says.

    The study shows that:

    • Nine Wii activities required an energy expenditure of less than 2 METs.
    • 23 activities required 2 to 3 METs.
    • None of the activities required 3 to 4 METs.
    • Five activities required more than 4 METs.

The most intense exercise was the single-arm stand in the Wii fit package, which required an energy expenditure of nearly 6 METs. "It's a difficult resistance exercise that involves standing up and lying down," Miyachi says.

The Wii sports boxing game came in at 4 1/2 METs, while both the Wii tennis and baseball games were associated with moderate-intensity expenditures of about 3 METs.

Wii golfers and bowlers may have to get out and do the real thing to get the health benefits of exercise: both came in at less than 3 METs.

While yoga and balance exercises didn't burn as many calories as other Wii activities, they help improve flexibility and reduce the risk for falls.

  11. I really appreciate this because I am old enough to remember what happened to the guys who fought in Vietnam. I am against this war, but I am so pro troops. I still don't know why it happened the way it did in the 70s but I am grateful that people treat my son with respect and often tell him thank you....

Your welcome, If he were not going to be home with his family, I would have gotten my kiddies to send him some cards or package. He won't need them since he will have the gift of being home. But if he has any buddies that might appreciate some cards from my children, please let me know, they would jump at the chance to do so!

  12. Hi, everyone!!! It's been a LONG while since I posted, but I've been reading through some posts and it sounds like everyone is doing pretty good, maybe a few minor set backs but the support and encouragement from everyone is awesome. I am having a REALLY rough time, I gained 4lbs back so now i'm at like 8lbs, and I haven't been able to lose ANYTHING. I only have 1.5ccs in my band and i've just past the 2month post op mark. I'm so dissapointed. I am getting another fill on Wednesday (it was supposed to be December 2, but I called to see if I could get in faster because I feel so hungry and never full) I know they are only gonna give me 1cc maybe 1.5, although i'm going to ask for 2cc...............they are very conservative there. If I can only get 1cc then i'm going to ask if I can have another before I drive to MS for Christmas with the family. My husband is coming home for rest and relaxation from afghanistan in about 3wks and I was really hoping to have made a bigger change by now..............so that bums me out. I ordered new athletic shoes so they should be in today............any busy moms have exercises to share that they do that have a big impact??? Or DVD's???

I am very happy for you that your husband is coming home and its very kewl that your coming to the coast. My doctor is also very conservative. I did not feel anything from my first fill and I am hoping for more from my second fill. I don't know if your doctor will give you another fill if he knows you will be headed out of town. Mine wouldn't, but it doesn't hurt to ask. My gym has a nursery, do you know if there is one near you that offers that? Just a thought, most gyms will give you a short trial membership. Good luck!

  13. We have to keep reminding ourselves that this is a lifetime journey and we are not on a timetable. I am stuck right now too, but I just keep trying to do the right thing and forgive myself when I am not 100% perfect and make a mistake. Getting back on my healthy lifestyle after making a poor choice is a HUGE improvement for me. In the past, one poor choice would send me on a eating binge or make me give up all together. Since being banded, I don't see that happening anymore.:wink2::wub::tongue2::wub:

  14. I had my first fill yesterday! The nurse put in 3 cc's in my AP Standard 10cc band. I'm still on liquids but I don't think I have any restriction. I'm hungry but not giving in! I go back in 2 weeks for another fill.

BTW, I'm sorry I haven't been around more to support everyone. Unbelievably I found out I was pregnant but have since miscarried. Apparently I conceived the night before my LAP-BAND®® surgery. I was shocked beyond belief as my one and only child was a result of IVF! So, when the LAP-BAND®® doctors tell you to be careful if you don't want any more children, they aren't kidding! All we can think is that the weight I lost on the pre-op diet somehow allowed me to conceive, when all those years of trying failed.

I am so sorry for your loss! Maybe now that you are losing even more weight, your pregnancy chances will continue to increase.

  15. Friends, just wanted to share that I have reached my first 10% - that is 23.4 pounds gone forever!

I have made peace with the lack of restriction for the next week and a half - I'm making up for it by exercising every day and choosing filling, healthy foods. Makes a big difference! Trying to have a salad every lunch and dinner - really helps fill me up.

Gen, Congrats on reaching your first goal. You are going to be into Onederland before you know it. Keep going!

  16. I should be on it too!!!
