    Just adding myself!!

    2 weeks from today......

Our List is growing so big! Have we chosen a name for our September group yet?

  2. Hello 10bluetoes! Got the night before crazies yet?

My surgery today went as follows..

    At hospital at 8am

had about 5 or 6 people in and out of my room before the

doc got there shortly after 9

once the doc left the wonderful man who gives out the calming coctails came back in and loaded me up, I don't even remember the trip to the OR. They are very kind over at Soutwest Surgical and helped my experience become not so scary after all. I was terrified going in but they made me feel at ease quickly!

by 11:30 I was awake, hit the xray machine and was back home by Noon. I live a block away so that helps.

I have been sipping Water all day, tried a shake, 2 sips and I was done.. for some reason its suddenly too sweet now. Tried chicken broth, tasted too savory, and I even tried a fat free popsicle.. gross even sweeter than the shake.

The nausea is horrible but they were nice enough to give a prescription of suppositories that even with insurance cost almost $70 bucks! My sister went to pick my my scripts and had I known it was that much I would have told her forget it. Yes I can be cheap at times. I guess I shouldn't complain though because my out of pocket for the entire surgery was only $277.

Oh yeah... tonight I puked , lots of dry heaves and a few tiny drops of water was all the reward I got for the horrifying experience.:blushing:. Don't get me wrong I would rather not have vomiting issues but dagnabit if you are going to make me feel like crap at least let enough progress happen to where the nausea is gone.

Apparantely my dr.. Dr. Snow out of Hurst is also starting to do the single incision procedure however he did not bless me with it.. I got all 5.

Bottom line, would I do it again? Heck yes I would

Hey everyone! I got banded today! Ok usually I'm pretty good with pain and not a wuss but CRAP I'm hurting! I woke up from surgery and automatically had back and shoulder pain and pain at the incision so they gave me demerol and I was doing pretty well (I thought) but it's gotten worse since being home and the liquid lortab does NOTHING for me. UGHHH! The most pain is in my mid back on the left side and the back of my left shoulder. Finding a comfortable position is extremely hard. I haven't had any problems getting my liquids down or had any nausea (knock on wood) but I feel like I got beat up with a crowbar!

Oh and I have these big puffy light red circles around a few of my incisions, anyone else have that? Sorry about all the complaining! I guess misery loves company!

Hey guys! I'm home and doing great! The gas pains are the most uncomfortable but a heating pad, walking, and gas x strips are all helping. I'm really tired but I wanted to let my September group know.......I got my band baby today!

    WOOT!

Thanks for all the prayers and well wishes you guys are fantastic!

CONGRATS! To all the banders from yesterday/today! I wish you all a speedy recovery and I hope your scales moves down quickly!

  3. pda?

Does anyone use a food diary/calorie counter program with their smartphone? I have to use a palm with work so its with me all the time, id love to find a log to go with it so i can easily write things down. The sparkle online log is great, but i am not readily at a computer most of the day and forget stuff when i finally get a chance to log it.

  4. I weighed in for the first time at my post-op visit, no scale in my house! Once back to work I weighed every Friday. I kept myself to 3 different scales: work, LB doc and my PCP. they all seemed to be pretty close..Of course if you weigh in the AM you will be less than later in the day..no matter who your are.

Personally I felt better with once a week, so much fluctuation if weighing daily, but that is my take on it..

I lgged all my food and exercise on TheDailyPlate, it kept me on the straight and narrow and would calculate your calories burned versus waht you ate..and it is free!

    The DailyPlate? what is that?

  5. Happy Labor Day everyone:)

Well, I have been on this liquid Protein post op diet for one week now. It really hasn't been too bad. I have my preop tests tomorrow morning so nothing after midnight and then my surgery on 9/15. I have to switch to Clear liquids day before surgery. The sweet drinks in the mornings are the worst part for me......yuck

How long did you guys have to wait after your surgeries before you do any strength training like on arms/legs?

  6. sounds cool. start and i'll follow. 209! Do you have to do a liquid diet? If so you are going to be under 200 before your surgery. I have lost 3 pounds since saturday! Still hoping for 10 before my surgery date.
Hey Dee, Soco, yea I had no choice on the pre-op diet. Im with Kaiser so i had to loose 10%. But I did it! Now I'm just trying to get all my supplies etc together. Bought some Soups, broth and Jello. I'm going to pick up some of the mouth spray you mentioned.

How's all the other post ops?

Pre-op, I have to do liquid Protein Shakes, popsicles, jello but I gotta say I'm having a tough time, not because its liquid so much as with all the sweets, my weight problem didnt come from eating sweets, it's all this cajun food. :tongue_smilie:My doctor also added a Multivitamin & an extra B Complex supplement.

Post Op, is just two days of clear liquids the 2 wks full liquids, then i can start adding lean meats & veggies.

  7. Cortney, I think you started the group on Yahoo, right? I've read some posts about listing our names and band dates, and if I was'nt computer illiterate, I would explain that we already have that in place on the Bandsters Unite site. Would you post the info again for the new September bandsters? I like having our own group and I'm sure it is helping everyone with all the info being shared!!

I started off in the august group and we made a little list of surgery dates so we could encourage those going into surgery and those recovering. It so would help me, I'm Ms.Forgetful! I don't think I have time to post to more than one group. I like this one:tongue2:

    Hi Everyone,

Just wanted to stop in and say hi. I'm getting banded on 9/16, so excited. It's nice to read your stories of being banded in the last few days, and those of you looking forward like me. Take care and congratulations.

We are band-mates, my surgery is scheduled day before:)

  8. hello everyone i am going be banded on september 16th...very excited!
I would try to change it up alot, I would have Protein shakes and liquid from Soups and stews, and Those campbell Soup cups like creamy chicken, and alot of crystal light. Keep it up, it does get easier.

I think I am going to try those campbell soups, my doctors has me on Protein Shakes too and i am just sick of all the sweet stuff. My surgery is on 15th and I have do the shakes until 14th and then just Clear Liquids.

    Dee

  9. Hi Everyone,

Had the CT scan today and endoscopy on Tues. Good news is that my doc rescheduled the surgery on Wed as long as everything checks out. She will remove the tumor and place the lapband (I hope!) It isn't pleasant to wake up and hear, "You didn't get a lapband". Fingers crossed for me!

My fingers are crossed for you, I am glad you are back on schedule.

    Dee

  10. Good morning everyone, it's nice to see everyone so positive about their progress. I was going to complain about my miserable 2nd day of the pre op diet but after seeing how some of you have to do it for 2 weeks I decided to hush up and suck it up!! Surgery is Tuesday and wow these days are really flying by. I don't have a scale here at home so I have no idea what I currently weigh. I am tempted to get one but It may be a bad idea to do so. 4 days to go!!! did anyone else get so nervous this close to surgery that they couldn't stay out of the bathroom?:smile2:

Two weeks of pre-op liquids is sooooo hard, I'm hungry all the time. Of course I realize alot of it is in my head. I'm worried I won't be able to do this.

  11. Well, tomorrow is my surgery. Not too nervous yet. Tomorrow will be a different story. My surgery is at 11:00 and I will be staying overnight. Praying all goes well with anesthesia! I will check in with everyone when I get home. I have had 2 weeks of clear liquids and will have another 2 weeks after surgery. I am sick of all the sweet tastes! I found Swanson Vegetable broth today and it is very good. Went and bought a bunch more tonight, so when I get home I will have something in the house. Well, September Bandsters, Talk to you all real soon.

clear liquids for two weeks? wow! I thought doing the Protein Shakes for 2 weeks is tough. I only have to do clear liquids the day before surgery. Then 2 days after surgery. You are my hero for sticking to that strict 2 wk diet!:smile2:

  12. I had my surgery yesterday and was released from the hospital today around 10 am. It felt like a life time... I could not wait to get home and unhooked from all the machines. I am feeling pretty good... sore but no gas pain, just incision pain. I have been moving around a lot, but am not able to eat much. Everytime I try something that isn't Water I feel like I might throw up. I am taking loritab liquid... it tastes horrible. I had the most amazing experience at St John Hospital and with my surgeon Dr. Katz. I am very pleased. I am now heading back to bad. Glad to hear everyone is doing okay. Keep up the healing all and for those yet to be banded, keep up the good pre-op work!

I didn't think you are to eat anything the day after the surgery but liquids?

  13. Amanda/McCall/Coloradomom- so glad to hear you are all doing well- other than the soreness and gas pain! I hope you continue to feel better each day! I am curious as to which band each of you received- the Lapband AP or the Realize?

My surgery is next Wednesday and I started the liquid diet yesterday. Not enjoying it so far- woke up with a headache that hasn't gone away yet. But I am still excited to make it to next week!

You did very well with your pre-surgery weightloss, you are off to a good start! I just started mine, I hope I do as well as you did:thumbup:

  14. Yeah I have been taking the hydrocodone every 4 hours. It is so nasty though. I am hoping tomorrow that it is better. Just got back from a walk around the block, maybe that will help the gas. Take care.

Amanda, did you have trouble with those huge pain pills going through the pouch? I'm just curious because my doctor is making me switch to chewable Vitamins after surgery. I assumed it was because regular vitamins would be too large to pass through.:blushing:
