    Going on a Cruise.. help!

I just came from a 14day cruise seven months after banding. It was wonderful. I ate what everyone else had, just ate slowly. You must come to terms with the fact that you will NOT be able to eat more than 1/4 of your portions. But I had whatever dessert I wanted but could only eat a small bite or two. Eat your Protein and then veggies, you will be full quickly. I walked the deck every morning after breakfast and I gained only 2 lbs which I lost within the first week I was home. I think it was just Water weight from the extra salt in the foods.

Amanda, you must have taken some fabulous vacation pics! I hope to have some to share when I return from my vacation as well. My ticker is now past the 1/2 way marker and I am 3 1/2 pounds away from a BMI of 29 which makes me officially NO LONGER OBESE. It would be great if I could achieve that major milestone before I leave on vacation on April 9th. :w00t::frown::w00t::w00t::w00t::w00t::w00t:
  4. Thanks Kim, I see your making great progress as well. I have come to terms with my slow losses, its kewl with me too ! :)

Pickles I really do think that my age has alot to do with my slower weightloss and i think age coupled with a low BMI to start with is making it a slower journey for me. I was voicing my frustration at my slow weightloss to my NP. First, she reminded me that I am very early in my journey, just beginning actually. Then she told me a story about two of her patients who are sisters. One started at a low BMI (like me), the other started at a higher BMI. The higher BMI sister lost weight much quicker than the other and even passed her up. The lower BMI sister did get there, but for some reason her losses were less and happened a little slower. Bottom line, I am going to have to be patient and be content with slower progress, I will get to my goal. So yes, I definately think age and BMI effect the speed of weightloss :scared2:

I have that problem too! I have had to bad plateaus, one lasted a month and this last one two weeks and I get so frustrated. Plateaus are when I know I would have quit if not for my band. So I know I am doing better with it than without it.

I think everyone's idea of a sweet spot is different. Mine is when I can eat 1/2-1 cup of food and feel full about 4 hours. That is ideal to me. 3 meals a day without snacking.

Oh Amanda, without a doubt you are huge inspiration to me! I am a bigtime youtubie and I loved yours! When I lose 1/2 my goal weight, I intend to shout it to world as well. But you will need to get a little thick-skinned about the kooks, they are everywhere. Don't let crazy peeps rain on your victory, you have so much to be proud of and you never know, your youtube may be just the thing to encourage someone to get banded that are in the same place we were in the beginning. How kewl would that be!
  20. I am hoping this post will give you guys some peace. After my 3rd fill I had 6.2 in my 10cc band and felt absolutely no restriction. My 4th fill he put .5 bringing me to 6.7 and BAM! I stay full 4 hours on 1/2 cup of food! It was like someone flipped a switch. It really is quite amazing once you get there.
  21. I know, isn't it great! Congrats :smile2:

    September 2009 Band Date

Welcome Melissa, I am at 6.7cc in my 10cc band. My restriction keeps me full longer with less food. I eat 1/2 c. meals and it will usually keep me full with no hunger pains for 4 hours. This week my restriction has started to fade, I am sometimes having to eat a whole cup of food and it is lasting more like 3 hours. This is my idea of restriction, staying full longer with less food. I am being very cautious with my fills, I want to be able eat foods, just slowly. I didn't feel any restriction until my last fill. Hope this helps.

    January 2010 Mile Challenge

I'm at 36 miles as of today, I was sick 5 days that kinda blew my goal i think... I'm going to get as close as I can though and keep my goal the same next month
  24. I have PBd very little, and when I did, it was from eating too fast. I actually have to get up from the table between bites. I throw a load of laundry in, or pick up around the house. I only eat 1/2 cup of food at a time now, but it still takes me about 30 mins to eat it. I stay full 3-4 hrs on 1/2 cup most of the time. As far as being tight in the mornings, I have started embracing and taking advantage of it. I used to be a huge breakfast eater, I would eat a weeks worth of calories in one breakfast before being banded. Now I sip Isopure in the mornings and wait to have my breakfast around 10:30- 11. As long as I get the calories in by the end of the day, I don't think my body cares when I actually ate it
  25. My 2nd fill only stayed around for a week, hope yours will be longer, but don't get discouraged if it doesn't, mine took 4 before it stayed around
