    September 2009 Band Date

Two weeks of pre-op liquids is sooooo hard, I'm hungry all the time. Of course I realize alot of it is in my head. I'm worried I won't be able to do this.

clear liquids for two weeks? wow! I thought doing the protein shakes for 2 weeks is tough. I only have to do clear liquids the day before surgery. Then 2 days after surgery. You are my hero for sticking to that strict 2 wk diet!:smile2:

I find that sooo strange, that they would give those huge pain pills. Especially since they made me switch to chewable vitamins because of their size.

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

How often did all of you post-banders weigh following your surgeries? did you wait for doctor appts? every day? once a week?

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Yes, liquid protein. PrescriptFit. There are shakes and a chicken soup/broth. Jello, popsicles and he said I can have coffee. But I only drink coffee in mornings anyway.

Amanda, did you have trouble with those huge pain pills going through the pouch? I'm just curious because my doctor is making me switch to chewable vitamins after surgery. I assumed it was because regular vitamins would be too large to pass through.:blushing:

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Congrats on exceeding your goal! You are an inspiration to those of us who are still trying to get there! Happy 4th of July:thumbup:
  16. I am on the liquid diet now, have done the psych test and now awaiting clearance from a cardiologist and i will get definate date....looks like it will be end of July.

Jazz fest used to be a wonderfully small and inexpensive experience but it has grown so large now, i think they are speaking of expanding it out more days to help with the overcrowding. I lived in New Orleans all my life until Hurricane Katrina, now I live in Diamondhead Ms. it's still on the coast though.

I hope to lose about 80 lbs. I had to gain 5 lbs to get in the weight/bmi that would be accepted by my insurance company, it took me 5 months to get them to agree to pay for it. It was worth it to save having to self pay though.

  17. my BMI is low too, it took alot to convince my insurance company to pay for mine :)

  18. Good Luck Tes! I have my insurance approval and my appt with my surgeon is Tomorrow. I also on the coast. I will keep in touch with you to give you encouragement!

  19. I am in same situation as you. I have been on every diet out there, some more than once. Lose it and then regain it. I was turned down twice by my insurance company because I was not heavy enough. But what is heavy to one person and another, can be quite different :)

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

What is the purpose of the whole pre-op liquid diet thing? Is it to make the surgery go easier or a jumpstart on the post-op liquids?...

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

I have read so many wonderful posts regarding your exercise routines after banding. How long before you are allowed to do any exercises? Can you walk or do weights right away? My husband and I enjoy our evening walks, but they are strolls, I hope to make them more brisk after my banding but I was just wondering how long that will be? Dee

Ocotillo, you will be only a few weeks ahead of each other. I hope we can cheer for one another.

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Hi everyone, I am so glad to have found this thread. I was beginning to worry that I was too old to worry so much about my weight. That maybe I was just being vain. I just got the go ahead from my insurance company and my next appointment will be to get started on the preop diet. Your posts have given me an opportunity to see others walking the same road. I love reading your posts!
