    Greek Yogurt ideas PLEASE

I have only been able to find the plain at stores in my area. (walmart) I didn't have know that they had flavored. I guess I can buy my own berries to mix into it? I like the idea of using in the place of sour cream, I like to use a little sour cream with fat free refried Beans. Any other ideas for greek yogurt? Please.

B omelet (1egg,1T egg whites, few mushrooms sprinkling of cheese) S 1/2 banana/choc protein shake L 1/2 c. fatfree refried beans/2T lite sour cream/2T salsa S choc/peanutbutter protein shake D 4 fishsticks (not a good choice) s indiv container of cottage cheese The fishsticks were not the best choice but my kiddies love them on fridays, they expect it. I am going to try to find a lowfat version. I did limit myself to 4, before my banding, I would inhale a dozen or so before in a very short time

Yep, I'm getting along on plain willpower which I always have a short supply of.
  7. The band is a tool and will not lose the weight for you. YOU have to make the committment to a healthy lifestyle for the rest of your life, not just a diet. When I was trying to decide which WLS was right for me, my doctor explained it to me this way....the band is for those who historically do well with diets and have had success with them, but then gain it back when hunger kicks it. He told me if I did not have a history of success with dieting on my own then I should consider the sleeve or bypass. Bottom line, lapband is the least evasive procedure but it is also the one that relies most heavily on YOU to do the most of the work.

    I'm here to help...

I had a little meltdown yesterday. But, picked myself up in end and now I'm back on track. My real hunger has not come back yet, it's the "brain" hunger that is frustrating me at the moment

OMG, this soup is soooo good! My whole family loved it and I wanted to share it. Butternut Squash Soup Prep Time: 20 mins Cook Time: 47 mins Serves: 8 Packed with vitamin A and fiber, this creamy soup blends the flavors of squash, sweet potatoes, and apples. Molasses and cinnamon add sweet and spicy overtones. Ingredients 2 pounds butternut squash, peeled, seeded, and cut into 2" pieces 1 sweet potato, peeled and cut into 2" pieces 2 cans (13 3/4 ounces each) reduced-sodium chicken broth, defatted 2 tablespoons light molasses 1 teaspoon chopped fresh tarragon or sage 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg 1 large onion, chopped 1 tart apple, sliced 2 cloves garlic, sliced salt ground black pepper 1 cup 1% low-fat buttermilk 2 tablespoons chopped fresh italian parsley Directions In a large saucepan, combine the squash and sweet potatoes. Cover with cold water and bring to a boil. Cook for 25 to 35 minutes, or until very soft when tested with a sharp knife. Drain and return the vegetables to the saucepan. Stir in the broth, molasses, tarragon or sage, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Remove from the heat. Coat a medium no-stick skillet with no-stick spray and place over medium heat until hot. Add the onions, apples, and garlic. Cook, stirring occasionally, for 5 to 7 minutes, or until soft. Add to the squash mixture. Working in batches, puree the squash mixture in a blender or food processor. Season with the salt and pepper. Return the mixture to the saucepan. Cook over medium heat for 3 to 5 minutes, or until warm. Ladle into bowls. For each serving, swirl in 2 tablespoons of the buttermilk. Sprinkle with the parsley. low carb low fat

I'm doing low carb, I did South Beach Diet and lost quite a bit, of course I have done every diet out there, some 2x! lol But all in all, low carb was easiest for me and it is also what my doctor recommends. My doctor wants us to eat Protein, then the veggies and last is the carbs, I am usually full way before I get to the carbs now ! so thats good!
  11. Katlynn, The worst of it was the gas in the first week following the surgery. Although the gasX strips did ok, I found the extra strength chewables worked better for me, but I think maybe that is a personal preference Also, I need it will be painful, but walk, walk, walk! I increased the length of my walks a little each day and now I am doing 90 mins a day. It honestly is the best thing for the gas and a speedy recovery. CONGRATS AGAIN!
  12. There is nothing wrong with taking a break for a day. Just be sure to resume something the next day. You are doing so wonderfully, you don't want to lose that momentum! lol

    September 2009 Band Date

I do not plan on trying to eat bread or crackers at all with my new band, I am trying to keep a low carb diet and I have read too many horror stories of people PBg with bread getting stuck.

    Gaining weight before 1st fill...HELP!

Your being too hard on yourself, If you were able to loose weight without restriction from your band, you wouldn't have had WLS to begin with. Do the best you can until your fill! This is not a diet, its a lifestyle change that you have your whole life to work on!

    Anyone taking Biotin supplements...

Jodi, I have always been a huge believer in supplements. I take a B complex that has the Biotin, a multi, Vitamin E, Omega 3,Calcium. Now that I'm banded, I cannot take the pills so I now I smash them up and throw them in the blender with my Protein shake....I'm thinking it just makes it more healthy

Glad to hear everything went well. Take your pain meds and walk, walk, walk and slowly increase your walking each day. That helped me more than anything else (except maybe the gasX) lol
  21. What a great idea! I'd love to swap blogs with fellow bandsters, I can use all the help I can get! lol
  22. How is your post op going? I was banded 6 days after you and we both started at low BMI. I am getting along. Losing much slower than those with more weight, but I am happy with my progress so far. How long before you have your first fill?

  23. Dana, That's all I'm doing right now is walking. I walked during my Post-Op period and it helped. I slowly have worked my way up to 90 mins a day. My doc won't let me do any type of weights or strength exercises until 6 wks, so I am following his advice on the gym for now.

    Your First Fill Date!!!

My doctor is a stickler for waiting 6 wks. My first fill will be Nov 2nd, which is actually about 6 1/2 wks, but its my fault beause I will be out of town for a bit. I hope I can continue on my own until then. Right now I feel like I am "dieting" which never works for me, thats why I was banded in the first place
