  1. I found I was eating a lot junk food late afternoon and evening so I have made a conscious effort to eat a healthy snack when I get home from work and then have dinner a bit late - it has really helped me to stop picking at bad stuff late in the evening. Good luck finding what works for you
  2. I find that certain foods sometimes get the slime flowining - i seem to struggle with cake, bread, rice, pastas - sometimes I can eat small amounts and other times I just feel the slime running. Are there particular foods or dry foods that you were eating?

    Does EVERYBODY Vomit?

I hate vomiting too - I would prefer any illness than that but the little "events" I have had are not like the throwing up you probably remember when you were 9 :-) All the things you have read about are more like coughing up muccus without the big cough - not a drama really. And like others have said, if you are very focused and very slow, it should never happen - but I think we are all human and sometimes forgetful :-)
  4. I think you are doing great with your weight loss - I too was a June '09 bandster and have not lost that much weight - about 25kg for me - I too struggle with the emotional eating. I dont do a lot of exercise either which doesnt help, I go through bursts for a few weeks and then stop for months - I have had quite a bit of port pain during and after exercise - apparently using the muscle can pull a bit on the port, plus doc told me it maybe the tube between band and port moving more during exercise that pulls. She told me not to worry but I assume that depends on how servere the pain is. Anyway, good luck and I think you are doing a fabulous job - am quite jealous to be honest :-)
  5. Give yourself time - I know it is frustrating when you feel deprived and yet get no positive outcome on the scales :-) My weightloss slowed after surgery too - I think our bodies go into shock, still getting over surgery plus less food. On top of that little solid foods can often slow your metabolism. I found that after my first or second fill, I got a good food routine going and I suddenly started dropping pounds - of course a couple of months later it stopped again, then a bit later took off again etc. I wish I could be a steady loser but unfortunately my body doesnt work like that. So be gentle on yourself and give your body time - it will work just relax and trust it :-)
  6. I was banded last June also, got a cold over Christmas and barely ate for days - I thought maybe the cold medication may have made me tighter? I have found some medications, alcohol and other particular foods irritate my pouch and cause swelling which obviously leaves me feeling tight. The other thing is fluid retention - hormones, medication etc leave me retaining fluid and my band feels tight - very strange :-)
  7. happened to me too - was nothing it just ended up being deeper than she thought and so the needle was not long enough to get to the port - she was not trained with fluro etc so I had to see someone else - but turned out to be nothing for me so try not to worry because it might just be their mistake :-)
  8. Hi aSpen What is pre-seed?

    Need caffine!!!!

My Doctor told me coffee for breakfast, again mid morning and dont eat until lunch :-) Works for me well. Good luck
  10. Hi Laura I went through Dr Watson at St John of God Murdoch - follow up is with other doctors in his office - all have been very helpful and friendly, a real mixture of Doctors there, some to offer tough love and others a bit more sympathetic and nurturing :-) No complaints so far. Dr Watson sometimes runs information and follow up seminars so you might be able to attend one of those and get a feel for what they are like? May I ask where are you currently going? Good luck.

    7 Months and 7 Pounds

I understand your frustration - I am only 5 months post op and I have lost about 10lb in all that time - my problem is I cant stop eating though. Which I realise is the complete opposite to you - I eat small amounts constantly, which is entirely my fault but I just cant seem to get it under control. How many calories are you eating per day? could it be you are too low and your metabolism has slowed? Check out the "Gabriel Method" - there is a book and website which talks about this. Good luck
  12. Might be worth contacting your doctor? I was sore for a good two weeks but I could move around without any serious discomfort within 2-3 days. So I guess it depends how bad the pain is? No harm in checking with the doctor?

    bowel regiment

I was worried about taking fibre supplements soon after my op - thought it might get stuck - but it was fine and gave relief. Now I take an Asian "Slimming Tea" from my Asian grocery store - one cup after dinner each night and it keeps me regular - no yucky fibre just one cup of tea - works wonders.

    weight gain :(

I was banded a week before you and have not lost nearly as much weight - you are doing a great job. Weight gain might just be fluid retention - a few extra carbs over the weekend or maybe some annoying hormones? Perhaps give it another week and see if things go back to normal - you might get a nice surprise and a sudden big drop next time.

    Lap Band Leaking??

When my doctor does a fill, he first draws all fluid out to check the amount and then returns that, with the extra he has already preloaded into the syringe. They can definitely check how much is lost between fills - apparently it is normal for a small amount to just disappear.
  16. I got stuck about two weeks ago and was sore for 3-4 days afterwards. I have recently increased my exercise - doing aerobics 4 times a week - I am finding that my stomach and port site are REALLY sore. I am enjoying the exercise and doing well with it but am worried about the pain - is that normal? I have DR appointment next week so will ask her then.
  17. Was my third fill before I felt any restriction - lost no weight between months 1 and 2. You are doing great - keep it up, it will get easier.
  18. I drink a "slimming tea" which I found at my Asian Grocery store - works wonders, just 1-2 cups a day and it is keeping me regular. It is just a herbal tea but has a laxative effect and also suppresses appetite which is great when you dont have much restriction like me :-)
  19. Not sure if it is normal but I had similar pain for the first couple of weeks - I was always quite sore in the morning and I figured that I had probably moved around in my sleep more than I realised. Took me a good 4-6 weeks before the pains stopped. Even now and then I get pains if I stretch too hard or do too much lifting. Overall though things are good and my doctor thinks everything is fine. Give it a bit of time - two weeks post op I felt quite normal again but it was a real effort up to that point.
  20. I am making an effort to eat more solid foods and steamed vegetables - it has helped a lot and I am finding I am not as hungry between meals. I was quite nervous about solid foods, thinking it might get stuck but all has been well the past couple of weeks. I can still eat way to much but the solid vegetables seem to fill me up more.
  21. Yes! My band is definitely tighter in the morning - the doctor has told me not to eat breakfast but rather drink coffee/tea and then have another mid morning before eating lunch. I have just had my second fill and am starting to getting some restriction - doctor said to come back in 3 weeks for next fill to try and overcome the hunger. I lost no weight at my last doctor's appointment (embarrassing) as I had been grazing all through the day - I always felt hungry. He told me I need to only eat at lunch and dinner and then have hot, no calorie drinks or water in between, so that my liver can do its job - if you can hold off 20 minutes the hunger will pass. Have had success the past two weeks.
