How is it possible that I am almost a year out and still confused sometimes???
kdee replied to Phranp's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi... just notice we have the same band date. I too have noticed lately that I can eat more, but am afraid to get a fill because I still get stuck on some foods. I am currently at 6.1 cc's in a 14 cc band. My last fill was in Jan 2010 but had some removed in Feb 2010 bc it was too tight. I'm not really complaining about my weight lost, started at 293 currently 213, but it just seems to have slowed down alot these last 4 weeks. I still would like another 50 (preferably 70) more to go. Any advice to jump start this will be greatly appreciated. P.S I am also from the Los Angeles area. (La Puente) -

I went up to 6.4 cc tried it for almost a month then had some removed. Everything was uncomfortable, sliming, pbing, and I refused to live on just mushies, so i went down to 6.1 doesn't seem like a lot but it made a world of difference. my stomach always felt like it was punched!! I know we all want to lose the weight and fast, but don't run the risk of damaging/ streaching you pouch!!

I am like you... I love to cook. so I still do, I've just done some modifications and my food still tastes great. I now make chicken a hundreds different ways... I'm constantly looking up low carb foods on the web and experiment, until I can find what I like. I like making fish with green salsa, red salsa, garlic butter, etc. mashed garlic cauliflower, asparaguas, in butter, cream sauce... I can go on forever.. like I said I love to cook and especially eat, but now I choose healthier choices, with alot of flavor!! We don't have to give up, just adapt. Good luck with your decision.

I mostly do the low carb.... reason being I was instructed no bread, rice, tortillas, Pasta, so I thought what the heck let's incorporate the low carb diet. It took me around 3 months after the band to realize this and so far so good. I will be honest with you, I do this mostly Mon - Friday and try to stay aware of what I eat, but if I want a donut (etc) I will have ONE and not the whole box like I use to. I was banded on 06/15/09 and so far have lost 79lbs. I read somewhere that the lapband is a ratio of 80:20 80% you and 20% lapband. LOSE IT AS YOU WILL LIVE IT!!! Good Luck on your new journey!!

I know the feeling... I was also scared and started off at 293. I DID CRIED!!! there are some days that can be difficult, but oh so doable. I had my surgury on 06/15/09 as as of today I weight 218. I haven't felt this good in such a long time... yesterday a nurse, (who doesn't know I had the LB done) told me I was going to live forever. My blood pressure was at 116/66. Felt pretty awesome!!!

MAJOR NO NO!!! Don't drink anything while eating, especially when u feel something stuck. it makes it worst!!

what ever you don't go to those billboard 1-800-get-slim people.... you'll be putting your life at risk!! read an article on them awhile back (i believe in ObesityHelp.com) and it was scary stuff. I was personally told by a lawyer/doctor the horror stories and cancelled with them. Got a new doctor in westwood, CA Dr. Carson Liu.... love him!!!
