Hello my names mandy and im a scaleaholic!!!!
bayareanan replied to mandyMO's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am moving from TX to CA in 10 days. I will be living with my son for a month or so before my house closes. I will keep the scale packed until I get to my new house. I havent been exercising the last few weeks and my loss has totally slowed down. It will be awhile before I get to a gym when I move too, and dont want to stress out until I get back to a normal life again. -
I could have gone back in a week. But I had great sick leave and took 5 weeks off. The doctor was totally ok about taking that much time, so I went for it. It was like a long vacation, except I didnt go anywhere.

I am moving back to CA in a few weeks and starting a new job. I have only lost 33lbs, but all of my clothes are looking pretty baggy. I hate to buy new clothes now, but will in the spring. There are no good wills here, or there (20 miles away) but I will probably make the drive to see if I can find anything to wear. I did buy 6 pair of pants in 2 different sizes down so I hope to be able to wear those to hold me over. Great deal, 6pair of pants for $82 on sale. I am concerned though, because I am moving in with my 27yr old single son until my house closes. This may be a few months. Besides worrying about how we get along I am concerned about cooking that will please both of us. I know there are alot of married bandsters, but this is something I havent had to worry about as I am single. I am flying out rather than driving, so that should save a few days of poor food choices. I leave on 2/7 and wont have computer access for a few months as my son is 'internet free", and I had to sign a 7pg document outlining the use of the internet while on company premises. Hopefully when I come back I will have made some good progress. I am also keeping my scale in storage so I dont have to stress about it until I get settled.

I asked my doc how long I could have off.He said as long as I wanted.I took 5 weeks!! I had great leave coverage and didnt miss a paycheck. Realistically I could have gone back in a week, but why miss out on a great vacation.

Job interview tomorrow....
bayareanan replied to zeniada's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks for the heads up about the Modesto doc. I lived in Modesto for about 20yrs, now going back. I am going to work at Emanuel Med Center in Turlock and they only have 1 doc on their plan. Dr Dao, so that is the person I have to use, or self pay. I am sure he will be fine. Also Zen, my fingers are crossed that you get the job! -
Caution, probably TMI - Flatulance
bayareanan replied to Jess55's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It seems strange that they would suggest Miralax. That is what I started taking when I needed some help in the bathroom area. I found that it gave me incredible gas. I have become regular again so dont use it anymore. -

Job interview tomorrow....
bayareanan replied to zeniada's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just had an interview and was concerned because my clothes were baggy. I interviewed for the same position in July and now I was back 33lbs lighter. Nobody said a thing (probably didnt even notice). Best part is that I got the job and am moving back to California after 8yrs in TX. -
It was bound to happen eventually. I just didnt expect it to early. I have 5cc in a 14cc band. I probably went wrong with leftover turkey and sweet potatoes. Had Fluid building up in my mouth that no matter how many times I spit it out, it still came back. Finally decided to let it come up. Feeling much better. My dilema is that I was to have another fill tomorrow. I am relocating from Dallas to California and thought I would have one more fill as it would probably take me awhile to get settled and find a new doctor. Now I am reconsidering my decision and may call off my fill tomorrow. Nothing worse than having another stuck episode on a new job.

I have been initiated! 1st stuck episode
bayareanan replied to bayareanan's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I went for the fill (not because of the posts, but because I though it was the right thing to do) and had 1 cc put in. Now 5 days later I still have one side of my band that "feels" food or water going down. I am going to try to have an unfill this Thursday. I thought if I was swollen it would have gone down by now, but maybe not. -
Another "Am is too tight" question
bayareanan posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my 3rd fill last Thursday and have felt I might be too tight since then. One one side of my opening I feel like there are razor blades when I eat. Even with yogurt. I thought it would pass in a few days, but it hasnt. I am taking small bits of protein, and have chewed well, but feeling it iwth Yogurt??? -
I am just back from a 5 day vacation. We ate out every meal. I tried to make semi wise choices but was far from perfect (do you hear margaritas??). I lost 4 lbs. I was shocked. I expected to be up. I am beginning to like this band.

In 2009 I did my 6 month diet only to be turned down by the insurance company because they didnt include bariatric surgery in their coverage. In 2010 My insurance changed and now covered surgery.l I didnt find this out until August. In July I applied for a new job in my home town in CA and really wanted to move back home. I do hospital IT and jobs just dont come up very often. I interviewed and was turned down because they felt I didnt have enough experience. I have surgery in October (they used my 2009 diet so I didnt have to do it over). Fast forward to January. I sent email saying that I was still interested as the position had not been filled (it was posted in 4/10) and would be in town and would like to meet with them again. Interview at 9am, job offer at 11am. Seems I was the only candidate to apply. New insurance does not cover bariatric surgery! If I had been offered the job in July I would not have been able to have surgery, or would have had to pay for it myself. I am a firm believer that things have a way of happening for a reason!

bayareanan posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am moving from Dallas back to my home town. I am looking for a support group in Modesto or Turlock. Anyone from the area. Also, I have a choice to use Dr Dao in Turlock or Dr Coates in Modesto. Anyone use either of them? -

This should be a good time of the year for bargain shopping. After Christmas sales are usually pretty good and get even better a little later. -
Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot
bayareanan replied to IndioGirl55's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Greetings from another over 50 person (age 52). I live in the Dallas area Would love to have an active thread for our age group. I am a slow loser who is always looking for tips. I am actually going to meet with my physician today to go over my food and exercise journal. I know I have been following the diet and just think I should be further along. We shall see. When I reviewed my exercise journal I discovered that I have only been exercising 2x/week and I thought I was averaging 3 times. Good to know. -
I had it work the opposite way.My insurance in 2009 wouldnt pay for surgery. My insurance for 2010 would. I had surgery in October. In2011 the insurance wouldnt pay for it.I am glad I made the move when I did.

I want to get to 299 by April 1. (Slow loser here) I want to stay away from my worst temptation...Chocolate. -
How difficult was it to have insurance pay? Did you have infections in the folds, or just low hanging skin?

Recommittig for 2011
bayareanan replied to ddgalarza's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For me it isnt a matter of recommitting, but staying committed. I am very frustrated because I am not losing weight (5lb total for the last 2 months) and exercising. I have scheduled an appt with my doctor to go over my food and exercise journal and see if he can figure out what I am doing wrong. I had my first bad cheat 2 days ago and ate chicken Nuggets, Something that I havent eaten in years. Why? Because I am so frustrated. But, I have vowed to keep on the diet as eventually it has to kick in. -

Dr approved 1 month off after surgery!!!
bayareanan posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am having surgery on Monday and had my preop appointment yesterday. I asked how long I can get off work, he said people usually take a week or two but I could take as long as I wanted. I asked if a month was ok and he approved it I have very good medical leave at work and will get paid the whole time. It is nice when something finally goes in your favor.
