  1. What is dr Kelly's personal email?
  2. I am curious why someone would go from India to have surgery in Mexico. Something just doesn't sound right here.

    Lapband to sleeve weight loss

I had my band in the us but was sleeved in Mexico. I had to have the Fluid taken out 2 weeks before my sleeve surgery date.
  6. So, I had a plication done over a failed sleeve. I only lost 18lbs in a year with just sleeve. I finally feel like I have the restriction I was supposed to have. Now I am down15 jobs in 3 weeks. I still consider myself a sleeved as that ismy primary surgery.

Down 15lbs in 3 weeks! Happy

Read up on the plication, but basically they over stitched the sleeve to male it smaller.
  8. You can't do a sleeve over a sleeve . What I had done was a gastric placation. Basically the fold the stomach like an accordion and don't actually cut the stomach. I don't think they do it in the US yet. I had it done in Mexico.
  9. I was sleeved last year and only lost 15lbs, all in the liquid phase so I can relate. The nutritionist thought it might be due to thr antipsychotics I take and gave me metformin to try and counter balance. My diet was spot on and I exercised too. I was just re-sleeved, or rather they did a placation over the top of it. I have lost 15lbs in the first week so I am cautiously optimistic now.

    scared..

When ingot my sleeve revision with dr a Ortiz a few weeps ago there was a 19yr old having surgery. His parents had had one last year and did so well the son wanted to be done. While he was there the mom had a lower body lift.

    Compression stockings

Dr A Ortiz was my Dr and they were required before surgery. I am not sure how long I had them on afterwards cuz I was out of it when they took them off.
  12. You are in good hands. Don't worry, be happy.
  13. I want to say 3 packages were under $100but I really don't remember. When I was first sleeved I had a lot of heartburn but it eventually went away.
  14. When I was in Mexico I bought nexium which requires a prescription in the US. My pcpis tight when it comes to drugs and I wanted to be prepared. I bought 3 boxes but Bly used about half of it.
  15. I have travelled alone to see Dr Ortiz twice and had no problems either time. You are in good hands as you know. The most difficult thing I encountered was that I had to use my room key to turn on lights in my hotel room.

    Anorexic?

I am a week out from surgery and don't want to progress my diet. I just want tomtay on broth so I can continuentomdropmweight as quickly as possible. Is this a normal feeling or unhealthy?
  17. I had my surgery with Dr A Ortiz and they had a fast wifi there. The Marriott was much much slower but still possible to use. You can use the wifi with your cell.
  18. I went alone to Dr Ortiz too. I agree with an earlier poster that I would not like to feel the need to entertain a companion or have them watch me sleep and rest. You will meet others and can socialize when you feel like it. You are I. Good hands with Dr O and his team.
  19. Iam just out of surgery with dr A Ortiz. Still wobbly but otherwise doing good.
  20. I had a band and lost 40lbs but was always slimming and was disappointed with my weight loss. So, I had a revision to the sleeve. At first I lost 12 lbs, and then stopped dead. I followed the diet, exercised intermittanly but still didnt lose. The nutritionist where I had surgery had me take Metformin as I take anti-psychotic meds and they are known to cause weight gain. It didnt work. I have been in touch with the doctor that did my revision and he feels the problem was due to too much scare tissue from the band.He has only had this happen one other time. I am going back on Dec 6 for a "Re" revision. I am not going to name the doctor as everyone I know, or have seen on the boards have had excellent results. I am fearful that the same thing will happen again. I know I will have to lose weight if my stomach is smaller, but I am not sold just yet. Oh, the doctor is doing the new surgery for free. I cant get much better than that. Has anyone else had this problem?

    Getting "re" Sleeved

One thing that is also not in my favor is some of the medication I take. I take 3 Antipsychotics and also an anti depressent. A few months ago the 3rd antipsychotic was added. I gained 12 lbs in 2 WEEKS and didnt change what I was eating, which was on program. So, I dont know how much of the problem is that. Either way I will find out soon enough.

    December 6 Sleevesters!

I am getting sleeved on Dec 6 also. Mine is in TJ with Dr Ortiz. I only have to do 3 days of a preop liquid diet, so that isnt too bad. I fly down on the 5th which is just over a week from now. Excited.

    Pain Meds!

When I was sleeved last year with Dr Ortiz in TJ I was given Tramadol (sp??). It worked fine and was no problem taking across the border. For those who may have noticed taht I am scheduled on 12/6 for a sleeve, it is because there was too much scar tissue from my band and the sleeve ended up being larger than it should. I have lost almost no weight in the year I have had the sleeve. Dr Ortiz has agreed to do another surgery. I dont see it as his fault, just the scar tissue. He told me this is only the second time he has had to do this in all the time he has been doing sleeves.
