banded, banding, bands--verb--To assemble or unite in a group
bayareanan replied to LeighaMason's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
New to the thread here! Weight loss has been slow but I have a second fill on Thursday. I was bad this week because my son is going to Kuwait for a year and leaving in the morning. Well, I havent been bad because he is leaving, but because of the emotions. I have given myself a few days of wine and chocolate to get used to him being deployed. Then it is back to the straight and narrow. In January I am flying to California to visit my other son. I figure we need bonding time while the other son is out of the country. Probably go wine tasting (is there a theme here) and to San Francisco to take a boat to Alcatraz. I have been many times, but my son hasnt. Glad I found y'all. -

Anyone recently approved by Aetna?
bayareanan replied to jenleigh526's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have Aetna and my package was approved in 7 days. And there was a 3 day weekend in there too. -
{{{{{HUGSSS}}}} You are still new in the game. You have plenty of time to begin making small positive steps to get back on track. Getting banded is a BIG change from the way we all over ate before. Same with exercising. Rome wasnt built in a day. Make a list of the changes you want to begin and add one to your daily routine each day. You arent competing with anyone else, so dont pay attention to their numbers. If you mess up, try to learn why you did and move forward Beating yourself up is not going to make the changes happen on their own. It only serves to dwell on our previous failures and make the cycle continue. Post your small successes here and you will get a lot of support as you get back on track. YOU CAN DO IT.

My concern is that I will self-sabotage I was on a very strict diet and worked out in a personal training group for about 6 months. At first I lost 35lbs, then I never lost any more. Looking back on it, I did a lot of sabotage to myself. Once3 I got on the roll of drinking wine and eating chocolate I didnt write any of it in my food journal and still wondered why I wasnt losing weight. I would stop for a week or two not drop any weight and go back to the self pitty party and continue these bad behaviors. This time I have sworn to myself that EVERYTHING I eat or drink is getting written down, even the wine or chocolate if I end up having some. This time I have to be successful. I am not hungry and have been able to get in the swing of eating right because I learned that part before. I get my second fill next week and am hoping this helps decrease some of my portion sizes.

Weight loss during Pre-Op Diet
bayareanan replied to lucky13girl4652's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ya'll did well so far. I was on a liquid diet with only broth, sf Jello, sf popsicles and protient drinks and only lost 2lbs! I am 9 weeks out and my weight loss is slow going, but it IS going. Some people just dont lose as fast, despite diet and exercise. -
How long before back to work??
bayareanan replied to Kmartin121's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I took a full month off. My doctor said to take as long as I wanted...and I did! I could have gone back after 1 week, would have better if I waited until 2 weeks. But, I enjoyed my time off very much.l -

Less then 300lbs !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
bayareanan replied to Rchavez101's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Be very proud of your accomplishments. It took alot of work to get to where you are. -
That is wonderful cjett. How long did it take you to lose that much weight

I follow the meaning of this post, but seem to be the exception so far. I eat 800-1000 cal/day, with 80-100 Protein. In the last month I have lost nothing. I walk on the treadmill 40min 4/week at a 2.5-3mile average. And yet I still an not losing weight. I had the same problem in the past when I worked out in a personal training group. We rotated cardio and weight training and read our food every day so there was no room to cheat. I lost 35lbs at first and then it stopped. I continued with this plan for another 4 months and finally gave up. I am beginning to fear the lap band hasnt done anything except give me a vacation from work. As you can see I am very frustrated.

November 30th is the date!
bayareanan replied to anewbeckiboo's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
oh NO!!!! Did they tell you when you can get a surgery date?? Had you already started the liquid diet?? If so, that would tick me off royally. -
Whoever said they had ZERO pain post surgery is a LIAR!!
bayareanan replied to mikki21's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I must be the exception because I had no port pain. I also had no gas pain. I did hurt from the incision, but only because my fat would jiggle and pull at it. -
I have had 1 fill of 3cc and dont feel any restriction. I have been able to limit myself to 800-1000 can/day without much problem. If I am not hungry, what good will restriction do? Once you get restriction you are not able to eat as much per meal. Doesnt this make it more difficult to get all of the nutrients in?

When did you see results?
bayareanan replied to porter11's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am down 17 lbs since surgery on 10/4. But, I started out at 334 also. I too expected more, but I have noticed I have more room in my pants. I need to increase my exercise. I am walking for 40 minutes 4/week. I need to start adding some strength training too. -
Gaining Weight on Pre-Op Diet WTH?!?!
bayareanan replied to gotmyeyeontheprize's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congradulations on your weight loss. Gaining a lb was just the fluctuations in Water weight. Nothing to be concerned about. As long as the trend is down that is what you want. I only lost 2 lbs on my 2 week liquid diet, so you are doing very well. -

day 2 post op and so uncomfortable
bayareanan replied to lacey lu's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree. It takes a few days to start feeling human again. But, it will come. -
2nd fill today- kinda bummed and confused
bayareanan replied to samomom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am in the same boat.I have 6 weeks post op and have not lost any weight in 3-4 weeks. I follow the diet to the letter and keep my carbs down below 40. I walk for 40minutes on the treadmill 4days/week and still nothing. I had my 1st fill last week. He put in 3cc's. Prior to that my band was just primed. I have kept track of my calories and probably need to go up, but still, at my size I should be dropping lbs!!! I am questioning if it will ever happen and if I made the right decision. -
Low sodium Levels
bayareanan replied to FinallyChanging's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
MY sodium level was low when they drew the blood in the pre op registration. I was on a liquid diet at that point. When I went to surgery the anesteshiologist (never could spell that word) said I was too low for surgery. She tested it again when I hadnt had any fluids and it came back ok. She said that they wouldnt have done the surgery because it could have made my brain swell. -
I have lookied for old posts listing where to get chewable or disolvables vitamens but couldnt locate them I know there were some that were able to find them at Walmart, Target or Vitamin Shop. A repost would be wonderful.

Bi-polar, stable on meds;effect psych eval?
bayareanan replied to AMLP's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am also bipolar and stable on meds. I had my eval done by my psychiatrist. My surgeon also discussed over eating and bipolar as he has had several bipolar patients have trouble following the diet. But, I made it. -
first fill, it was a LONG drive home.
bayareanan replied to ASM's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am glad you were successful in getting the fill, especially with the distance you had to drive. I am in the burbs of Dallas but it still takes me an hour to get to my doctors office.
