Phatty, I had a friend who miscarried. It turned out she had Rh negative blood and he had something else and it was the reason for her miscarriage. -

NVGirl, I ordered from the Bariatrix site. I was told to order 4 for the two weeks and it was right on as far as the amount. It is pretty expensive but worth it for the liquid phase. I now use the Walmart Whey Vanilla Protein, if I remember right it has more grams of protein per serving too. And...much less expensive. I throw some crushed ice, skim milk, protein powder, a couple of strawberries and some (1/4 tsp) Crystal Lite Strawberry Kiwi Powder in my bullet blender and it is like a delicious strawberry shake. I was banded two weeks ago and I have to say, I still enjoy the shakes and will continue to use them for protein for a while if not for good. -
Best Wishes tomorrow Eclipse!

Angie, you just hang in there girl. At least they are not willing to risk your life. Only nine days then, you can do it:clap2: . You don't have to stay totally on the liquids til the 29th do you? Gail

How is weight loss for people over 50?
gailannr replied to debi717's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I consider myself one of the lucky ones! My parents left my siblings (eight of us) such a legacy and rich heritage. While raising us kids, they had no earthly riches except for music and a couple of old steam engines! They left their music and steam engines to 5 boys who play old time swing music (Dad) and rock and roll! All five of my brothers have boilerman licenses and know how to fire up those steam engines. Every other August we thresh, party, dance and rock and roll at our "Family and Friends reunion back in good ole Minnesota. Our children and our grandchildren and lifelong friends all try to make it from near and far including Nevada, Washington, Colorado and Massachusetts. Our life was rough too, my father was an alcoholic and died from IT and cigarettes. He quit both about 3 years before he died. I never doubted after I was a grown adult that my parents loved each and everyone of us kids more than they were ever able to put into words. I have to admit tho, I didn't feel like it sometimes when I was younger. That's when they were trying to do the best they could with what they knew. That's what I had to do too. I suppose I might have been a little better at parenting then they were but I sure made my mistakes along the way! I try to live by this little saying I ran across many years ago: Live so that when your children think of fairness and integrity, they think of YOU! -
Pam I ate ground beef and a little cooked onion today. I mushed it up pretty good. No PB, it was so good. I find that I need to chew as much as I need to swallow!! I will let you know what Dr. G says. Official weigh in tomorrow! I meant to tell you thank you for thinking of me on the flowers, you know you didn't have to do anything like that. Remember the gal I told you about with the bouncing/jumping party thing. Well she never made it up to see me either. She went into the hospital on Tuesday and was in till Saturday. She had the RNY. This is the second time she has become very ill. She is having a problem with a very bad ulcer. She had her surgery 5 yrs ago and has not gained any weight back. She is about a size 7/8 I think. Her name is Marlene and she is still planning on calling you. She emailed me what happened and said she hadn't called you yet. Me

One thing I have been meaning to add to this thread is to bring a pair of ear plugs with you to the hospital. It works for me. I am a light sleeper to begin with, in a hospital it is a nightmare to try to get rest, even when you are drugged up.

Hey, I asked Chris the other night if he had to show a list of foods he is eating and how much but he hasn't answered it yet. Did you? I haven't been keeping track of it all. I have my first doc appt. on Tues.

Pam, it was a Zone Bar. I am going to have to give those to my DH. I didn't even look at the calories! Zoowie! 210. Protein 14g. I haven't PB'd yet. It felt a little like indigestion. I burped a few times but things went down ok.

Pam, are you still on? How was your vacation? I really sort of, no not sort of, I cheated to day real good. I ate one of those protein bars, Then I ate mashed potatoes and gravy and green beans tonight. I just finish a whole fudgesicle and a little tub of SF jello. I didn't feel what I could call restricted and I must have eaten about a cup or more of the potatoes etc.

No, I haven't had any stoma pain. I have had the port pain and swelling. I can eat a good cup of something like soup. I just gradually get full, no discomfort though. External pain only. Right now I want a bowl of honey nut cherrios sooooo bad. I know my hubby is out there having one right now! He is dieting with me and has lost about 7 lbs. -

Well, I am still watching it pretty close. Mostly soups, yogurt, cream of wheat, popsicles and fudgesicles, I did eat mashed potatoes and mashed green beans one night. I just can't do the total liquid thing anymore. I did eat a small shake in Fallon the other day. I was so hungry so I did cheat. -

Hi Pam Glad to hear from you! Now remember I was on the liquid diet since about three weeks before surgery. So that is one reason it seems I have lost a lot. Like I said I'll believe it when I see it on WBI's scale! Glad you are having a good time. We miss you on here! Gail -
Hi Sugarbear, I meant to get back to you last night and I kept trying to catch up on the reading (it is addictive, I swear)! Then I started nodding off! Time to go to bed ya know! I am doing well too. I was beginning to wonder for a while because they found that hernia to repair and I ended up having quite a bit of pain with that. I am mostly liquids but once and a while I sneak in some mushies like mashed potatoes. I had Montibello Mushroom soup tonight (the kind that pours out of a box) and I added a little bit of mashed potatoes. It was so good! Then I ate a sugar free fudgsicle. It was good. I can't tell too much either. Sometimes I do feel full tho. I keep visualizing 1/4 of a BLT sandwich, I love those things. Let's see that's 1/2 piece of toast, 1/2 small slice of tomato, 1 piece of shriveled up bacon and some low fat mayo. Dang that sounds good. I hope I can chew it well enough! That is truly what I am craving and also some cooked ground beef. I have lost about 17 lbs when I weighed myself tonight. I am not changing my ticker tho until I go to the docs. I want to do it by their scale. Gail

Hi Chris, It ended up being a AT&T 2wire problem. I got it straightened out and then it screwed up again. I called them and they got me going again. I kept losing my IP address. Anyway, it is still not real stable, I might try to get HP tech support again tomorrow. HP almost caused me to commit Hari Kari! I haven't heard from Pam that little stinker! I am doing well, wondering tho why the doc's office wouldn't have me scheduled for my post until almost 2 weeks. I guess it's ok though, nothing seems to be wrong. I haven't weighed myself today. I try to wait at least a couple of days. I think I have lost about 15 pounds since I started the liquid diet. I feel hungry every once in a while. But once I eat something I am good to go for several hours. Did you have to bring in a list of your meals or food you have been eating? No one has called to see if I croaked or not! LOL Gail -
Lara, one thing I have found that I love is the Campbell's Soup at Hand. You just heat it in the Microwave for 1 1/2 minutes and it is so delicious. You just sip it right out of the can.
