Suggestion About A Good Protein Drink
roo22 replied to KRVAUGHAN20's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Okay folks...I am picky...PICKY  about protien. Here are my choices... I LOVE :huggie: Max Muscle's MaxPro Banana!! I put in a tablespoon of Peanut Butter and blend it in the blender and I could live off this stuff! It has 30 grams of the good protien, 120 calories, 0 carbs and 0 sugar, 1 fat. With the Peanut butter added it is about 36 grams of protien and 210 calories, 7 fat. It cost $29.99 for 2lbs ($57.99 for 4lbs) at the Max Muscle store where I live and has 26 servings (or 52). It is $37.99 online though but worth it. My sister adds a bit of sugar free chocolate syrup to hers. My choice for ready to drink is  Oh Yeah's Cookies and Cream, Vanilla Creme, and strawberry Creme. I buy those at the Max Muscle store too because they give you a 10% discount for buying 12 or more. Cost $37.99 for 12. They have 32 grams of protien, 4 carbs, 3 sugar, but have 9 grams of fat so they are more of a Meal Replacement. They sell them at GNC, Vitamin Shoppe, and almost every other place around. My other choice for ready to drink is the Believe Mocha Latte, Italian Cappicino, and Chai Tea from Bariatriceating.com but I don't buy them much because while they cost about the same as the Oh Yeah's (12 for 39.99)the shipping is CRAZY  at $15 to California! They are DELICIOUS though and you have no idea you are getting in 18 grams of protien!!! You can also buy the Oh Yeah's there but why would you pay for shipping when they are carried at almost every nutrition shop around. -
Have you heard this before?

I was curious and looked it up. The first article doesn't mention using the Fluid for greater restriction but they discuss using it when looking for a leak in the band. Here is a link that shows some really cool pics of what the lapband looks like inside us. http://arturorodriguezmd.com/lap-band-leaks I also found a thread on this site called symptoms of slipped band? and they said this: "Our surgeon also said that because our doctor was using only contrast fluid to fill the band, it somehow gets thicker and slowly causes more and more constriction on the band. He says they (mexican surgeons) have learned that they should use only half contrast and half saline solution. He also mentioned that the saline slowly and gradually evaporates or somehow is absorbed into the body and that is another reason why people with only saline may need another fill from time to time." Wow...check out this article on different lapband fluids and the effects of each....interesting! http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/11288845 -
Hey everyone, I was banded Wednesday, July 15th! Everything went very well and on schedule. I wanted to compare my experience with you all to see if this is normal. The morning of the surgery I weighed 230.8 and the next morning I weighed 234.8. Today I am 233.6. I find this really strange. Could I just be hanging on to every single bit of fluids I am taking in? I had 2 bags of Fluid at the hospital and 55oz of fluid yesterday. Today I am at the halfway mark for the day. Using the bathroom about every 3-4 hours regulary. I don't feel bloated or like I am retaining Water either. I don't feel restriction persay, but I wouldn't say I am hungery either. I don't notice much of a difference after I drink fluids then before I drink them. I am not hungry..just feel the same regardless of what I take in. I was just wondering if that all sounded normal. Thanks Guys! Susan

I was banded on the 15th of July. I wasn't bloated but definitely sore. I am still sore but no where near it was in the begining. It started getting much better on day 4 though. Good luck!

Thanks everyone! Feels good to be normal  I am hanging in there and doing really good. Not alot of gas pain, no vomiting, nothing else out of the ordinary so I feel really good. It helps to hear other people's experiences!!
