  1. Happy 38th Birthday smoos198!

  2. 2 years has passed since you registered at LapBandTalk! Happy 2nd Anniversary smoos198!

  3. Hi, How long ago did you have your surgery? I'm having mine on Aug. 3rd. We have the same build it looks like - and you look great now! susan

  4. I am a Dr. Curry patient too!!! My surgery is July 13th. I weigh 235, but am only 5ft2, so my BMI is high. Only good thing about that, insurance is paying! I am so worried about that liquid diet!!

  5. Marlene,

Thanks for the email. I am excited for you for your surgery! I will pray that everything goes smooth for you. Please be sure to let me know every detail - as I am a little nervous about everything. I am 35 yrs old and have one child - Owen who is 2 yrs old. I want to have another child, but i want to lose some of this weight first. When I was pregnant with Owen, I gained 60 lbs! (I weighed 280 at before giving birth). I weigh 230 - 235 now - with a BMI of 32. My insurance will not pay for my surgery since my BMI is not high enough - go figure, I'm not 'fat enough' to have insurance pay for it! I have crept into a size 18-20 and a 2xl shirt. I am so ready for a lifestyle change and to lose this weight permanently. Please let me know how your surgery goes! Where are you having your surgery at? susan

  6. Sure thing Susan. My name is Marlene, I'm 27 weigh 241 and have a bmi of 38. I learned about the lapband in December of last year when my pcp doctor suggested it as a tool that would help me lose the weight that was bringing me to bringing me close to being insulin dependent. I went to a seminar in february and I educated myself. The seminar was excellent at NYU Medical Center. They explained the pros and cons as well as the usual obstacles that most insurance companies place to make it a little more difficult to get. After that, I pretty much did everything else on my own, I followed the steps with my pcp, scheduled the psych evaluation and after that the surg consult. All in all it has been a pretty quick and painless process, once I had all of my paperwork, the surgeons office contacted the insurance company for approval and thats pretty much it... surgery scheduled for the 27th of this month, so thats 2 saturdays from now...wish me luck

    Any July Bandsters out there?

Maggie, Hi! My name is Susan. Dr. Curry is doing my surgery on Aug. 3rd. I would LOVE to talk to you and have someone who is going thru the same thing around the same time as me to compare stories with. Let me know how things are going please! I am excited, but a little nervous too. I am also self-pay:thumbdown: which my husband is not thrilled about, but I have to do this for me! susan:smile2:
