Love it and haven't gotten my first fill yet but the restriction from hunger is there and the 40 day post op plan is not too bad...

Can I have unprotected sex?
Iris_L replied to Loving everyday's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just don't understand...if you guys want to have sex and you are concerned...wrap it up! Birth control is not 100% guaranteed. Pregnancy chances are higher once you lose weight. I mean its your decision, so maybe you shouldn't ask our opinion.... -
Night eating problems...anyone???
Iris_L replied to suzetteherrera's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Suzette, You will find that people will do either one or two things: support you or judge you. You cannot worry about anything right now other than adapting from your weight issue. After all, every one of us who is banded, or who has some form of bypass has a problem with food intake, some admit it...some don't. Do not beat yourself up about it. Best advice I can offer is keep your drs. involved. Just because you see a psych doesn't mean you are any "crazier" than any of us. I personally think it is a good idea...the psych I saw for pre op is who I choose to continue to see because eating disorders (whether minute or extreme) are issues that should be discussed with a professional. Stay encouraged and do your very best! Good luck -
Should i have lied??????
Iris_L replied to 2Flyguys's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Unnecessary drama. Let your friend do what she does and be honest, if that is truly your friend. Whether she looks like she lost the weight or not shouldn't matter, but I know honesty matters in a friendship. If she says she lost the weight trust that. -
Guess I am in lap-band hell?????
Iris_L replied to idababy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I understand everybody's pain. I begin mushies tomorrow and I am sooooo ready! I was able to have a mixture of broth, jello, protein drinks (yuck) during my two week post op. Tomorrow I can begin eggs/mushies and I am so excited. I have lost 19 pounds (was 20 but one day I ate slider food, was hungry and weak--don't regret it but just won't do it again) so I am staying on track. I will be glad when I get my fill on 8/14. Here's a pretty good post op diet plan to follow, my diet is a little different but I thought this was a good resource. http://www.integris-health.com/NR/rdonlyres/47702FB1-6981-42F8-9617-BD81BE202B96/0/lapBandDiet.pdf -

Where here....And she's banded!

You are a special man and an awesome support system to your wife! I congratulate you both on a wonderful life together. And thank you for not becoming discouraged when some people tried to tell Agnes to reconsider. I had a support system during the surgery and I didnt expect for everyone who was there to show up but I was so relieved and recovery has been wonderful. A positive outlook does make a difference. Best wishes to you and your wife. -
Hi I received a prescription for Protonix to take prior to surgery and morning of surgery, then 30 days after. I see many people are complaining about gas pains so should I purchase the gas strips or antacids in addition to the Protonix? Thanks

Gas Strips in addition to Protonix
Iris_L replied to Iris_L's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, my surgeon is awesome, I have a single incision, and he pumped all of the gas out. Aside from the tenderness around the port/incision, I have been great. So I only take the protonix, I had my followup yesteday and they are ready to do a fill in July. I told them I would like to wait a couple of weeks, at least until the tenderness goes down. -
Jen, I was very hungry last night possibly because everything came out (sorry to be so blunt, lol) I have a followup appointment tomorrow, and besides a minor headache from time to time, I am doing well. Just staying in the home and relaxing, walking, drinking water (ughhh), broth, etc. My only issue is the carnation instant breakfast (yuck!) Maybe its the vanilla flavor but a e-buddy told me to get slim fast and that should suffice. There is also this bariatric shop by my home so I may go there, they blend drinks to see what you like before you make a purchase. They take online orders if you are interested heres the link http://www.bariatriceating.com/ Good luck on the rest of your journey and I hope you have great success!

Was a beautiful one. No gas, two incisions, just soreness on the incisions and the hospital staff monitored me and provided the support I needed. It was a beautiful awakening from anesthesia, now I am home, excited for every new day ahead!

Congrats, I was also banded on the 2nd. I drink more now because I do not want to feel lightheaded. Also you should be urinating at least four times a day. Another thing I did I got sugar free popsicles in case I did not feel like drinking. I think your appetite will pick up. Hope all goes well!

Does anyone feel like life with the band is too hard?
Iris_L replied to lindsayb's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It was well worth it all and I am newly banded -
Lapband pain vs c section
Iris_L replied to mom2trips06's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a c section and I find the lapband procedure to be nothing too huge. I have two incisions and most of the soreness around the incision are gone. Good luck. -
Fab and Grandma, thank you both for the well wishes. I am glad I crossed over into the journey!

Gas Strips in addition to Protonix
Iris_L replied to Iris_L's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Will do, thanks. -
I think he will like you or love you either way, men have a weird way of showing their concern. If your weight was an issue before he would have never dated you. Maybe he is trying to see if you are really going to do the surgery. They have the weirdest ways of trying to call our bluff, lol cheer up! Hang in there and good luck! You will be just fine.
-
Thank you as soon as you are able, please let me know how everything went. The meeting was really reassuring today, the nurses were really informative, supportive and helpful. Iris

Good luck and success with your surgery...I have a mandatory meeting tomorrow and then banded on thursday. You will be fine and keep us posted.
-
IMO I think you are doing good.
-
Awesome... and you can get the surgery and recover before returning back to work...oh will your co workers wonder!!!LOL:biggrin:

ok... getting scared....
Iris_L replied to emtsusieq's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I figured that being scared or nervous is normal...but it can be nerve wrecking (LoL). I thought about changing my date but I know that I need to do this...so I will just try to stay focused on other things and pray for calmness.
