Disappointment has set in
I Can and I Will replied to wayupnorth's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
quick question...is it a type in your previous email that you are eating 5428 calories a day? If not, that may be the issue, I'm not sure but I would think you should only be taking in 2000 or less due to change in stomach size.... -
Hey Susan, I have never been a soup eater; however, knowing that I was going down this trail I started tasting my way around...there are 3 that are very yummy to me. - Pacific Organic Creamy Tomato & Roasted Red Pepper and Tomato (Publix) - Imagin Bistro Organic Cuban Black Bean Bisque - This is AWESOME by itself...I usually cut up a fresh tomato, cilantro and maybe a green onion.... You could easily add some of the ham and cheese roll ups to the tomato Soups for more protien... Hope this helps....

Great topic... I found the the world accorinding to egg on my face blog...THIS IS AN AMAZING BLOG and she provides a lot of stuff. I was looking for the same reason for lunches and found this.. [ame=http://www.amazon.com/Zojirushi-Bento-Stainless-Steel-lined-Silver/dp/B000246GSE/ref=pd_sbs_op_18]Amazon.com: Zojirushi Mr. Bento Stainless-Steel lined lunch Jar, Silver: Kitchen & Dining[/ame] this lunch box would hold all my meals for the day....because it's stackable, Soup for lunch on the bottom, snack in the next etc... I ate dinner tonight...blended up some soup and had 1 spoonful to much...I over ate. Now mind you, I had 6 total...I'm having to adjust my perception of "normal"...I didn't eat normal portions before, now I have to really take these measurements to heart...what did I learn today ...note to self, when eating clam chowder only warm up 5 spoonfuls... Hope this helps.... -

home and gassy! STILL

This group is so funny...be careful...laughter and jokes about gas will eventually help you pass it:001_tt2: Here are a couple things I've learned in the last week: - Water - If I mix crystal light into bottles of 16oz water and then freeze, it helps. I know my goal is to drink four bottles total. As it melts, I take a sip....it's been more successful for me rather than just mixed crystal light. I'm also eating popsicles that helps as well. Gas - walk around the house...gas is in your tank so move:001_tt2: I find as I'm walking across the house, I'm getting little extra "poot" and just laugh because it happens...then a little more because of the muscles tightening from the laughter....not very lady like I know; however, as we know in life talking about gas or going to the bathroom always make the "best" in people come out! -

Deep breath grasshopper:001_tongue: Look at this as an opportunity...do you have a doctor or nutritionist you could work with? Are you positive on the intake calories, protien etc or are you guessing. Through my various attempts to lose weight, I learned that what I thought I was eating and what I was actually eating were very different (had to be honest with myself). Please note here, I don't want this to come across mean or harsh...email/posting can do that sometimes:tongue_smilie: I really didn't plan my meals so, I ate "on the fly". Once I started being present and consious about what I was eating, there were a lot more calories and I wasn't drinking Water... Did you lose any weight the first week? I would think because of the limitation and intake you would lose more than 6lbs. I think your carb intake may be to high as well. You will burn the carbs in your system before any fat or muscle. The opportunity is to discover what you may be doing and then "change" the direction.... It will work...just have to find out what you need to make this tool work for you and part of our journey....once you do...share it with us! Your experience will help all of us.... :lol0: -
Need some support.....

Welcome! I'm pretty new to this forum; however I have worked in the counseling field and you know we are all different. One of the things you'll find through some of this process is really to be honest with yourself. This is an "internal journey" (excuse the pun:tongue_smilie:) Who do YOU want to be? Then BE:thumbup: I would suggest you begin there...journal it and then begin to allow the process to take place. May I suggest you pick up some reading on Grief (Kubler Ross) and go from there. Going through this change process is going to be grieving the "loss" of some things...take small steps and one day at a time. I would also suggest begin incorporating healthy habits now versus going cold turkey. Set yourself up for success versus overwhelming yourself. Instead of going cold turkey on sodas...begin now with limiting # of sodas per day and begin exchanging drinking healthier liquids as this is going to be crucial for you....keeping hydrated. One thing I'm finding is that I never knew what a "sip" was. I grew up with a brother who taught me how to drink (gulp) and burp...LOL....this is one of my challenges so, I'm using all the crystal light flavors (lemon raspberry is my favorite so far) and mixing then freezing. In the morning, I take out my first of 4 bottles for the day and begin....as it melts, I sip what has melted and kind of nurse it through the day until I need to get another. My last suggestion is when you are eating...be present. Be mindful of what you are eating. Taste the food....chew...chew....chew. Get creative and search for those things that work for you... We all have things we do that are "addictive", bad for us etc...it's not all about others...it's all about YOU and YOU are the driver:001_smile: okay...hope this wasn't preachy...LOL....you are going to do well and we are here...I'm glad you are going to share your journey with us...it will help me as well. thank you for coming here! -

THanks everyone...so far so good. The only troubles I've had to this point are: stiff neck from hospital stay huge bruise from shots in my stomach (blood thinner) I laugh because I have had major surgery and taking out half of my stomach and you'd think things would be worse...I'm blessed! Hey Susan, shoot me an email off line if you want and maybe we can meet for a popsicle....I'm buying! -
