I've been overweight since I was 4 years old. No matter how many diets I did, no matter how much I exercised, and no matter how many professionals we talked to my weight gaining problem never went away. After years of no self esteem, getting made fun of, and being mentally scarred for life I decided to look into weight loss surgery on my own at 16. My mom wouldn't have it. It was when I saw a specialist that pretty much told me that my final option was surgery that my mom was finally convinced. He gave us the name of Dr. Michael Snyder and I went to a seminar. I was instantly sold. By the time of my first Doctor's appointment I had already turned 17. Dr. Snyder said that he thought I was the perfect candidate for lap band surgery.Since I was so young I had to go through so many different preliminary doctor's appointments where we found out that I also have sleep apnea and heart problems already due to my extensive weight. Finally, after 7 months, we scheduled my lap band surgery. The surgery went well and I was out of the hospital the same day. The only complications I have had since the surgery are torn scar tissue and potential gal bladder problems. As of my 1 year anniversary I weight 205 lbs. 75 lbs down from my original weight of 280. That is the most weight I have ever lost. I still have a long way to go and I keep getting off track...but I'm trying...and I'm not giving up.
