Hello from Tempe, AZ
TheArchitects replied to TheArchitects's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I had my surgery at Tempe New Day Surgery, it was all arranged by trueresults.com I had a very good experience. My first fill is on August 4th. This week I have been in Philadelphia for work and I must tell you, I have zero restriction. I have been eating who :cursing:knows, everything. Although, I must say I am eating less but goodness, I have fallen off the wagon. I hope to get back on in starting on Saturday. My fill is next week, I will let you know! -
OK. Hello Everyone! It's Day 12 Post Op for me and I am feeling pretty good. My incisions are pretty much all healed up. The Gas pain in my shoulder is gone. Mushy foods are wonderful. There is one thing that is not wonderful though... This nagging Port pain, below the large incision, to my left side. Either walking or standing for more than 20 or so minutes really irritate that area. Its like a pulling pain in my abdomin. Does that ever go away? The Gym. My Doc said no strenuous exercise for 4 weeks. Other than the port discomfort, I feel like I am atleast ready to work out a little. When did you guys hit the gym? When were you back to "Normal"?

TheArchitects replied to mgmagnolia's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
OMG Seriously! That is over 2 weeks ago. I was banded on the 2nd. After 48 Hrs , I was on full/liquids/progressing to mushys. I moved to mushies like 8 days after surg. It's almost 3 weeks, 4 days away... Time for solids oh yea. My doctor said I should be on solids by week 4 which is 4 days. so... I will be!:wink2: -

Port/Gym/Etc
TheArchitects replied to TheArchitects's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks for sharing your info! I am following it as best I can, which is about 99%. I just got back from the gym. Had a good workout today. In addition to the 5000 Steps I got at work today. I did: 7 Minutes on the Recumbent bike for a warm-up. Then 40 minutes of elliptical (in 20 minute increments). Overall, my port pain was basically not there at all, so it comes and goes. -
Port/Gym/Etc
TheArchitects replied to TheArchitects's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm going to start going back. I usually did about 45 minutes on the Elliptical @ Lv10. I will probably start with 30 Minutes on the Elliptical @ Lv5. I have a personal trainer. I think I will hold off on starting those again until next week. I don't want to pay alot of money when I can't really do the kind of weights/etc I was working on with him. As far as the port discomfort. I guess I will just live with it. I don't really think there is anything I can do that would mess it up... I hope! Thanks for everyone's replies. Maybe you can post what kinds of exercises you are doing so we can get some ideas! -
How long before "regular" food?
TheArchitects replied to Rutiglius's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You're right. I will behave myself. I just need to get my mind off it, maybe I will go play some video games. -
How long before "regular" food?
TheArchitects replied to Rutiglius's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wish I had your plan! I cannot wait until tomorrow morning, since it will be technically 7 days(1 week) I can move to Mushies/Soft food phase. I have been dreaming of eating some refried beans/w cheese and salsa for like the last 3 days.... Biding my time....:smile2:.... Have any of you guys had any luck with Pita chips or anything like that? I know chips are not very good for you but I was thinking some Trader Joe's Pita chips wouldn't be that bad.. or maybe something made with corn or wheat>? -
How long before "regular" food?
TheArchitects replied to Rutiglius's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My plan which seemed to me to be a default plan they hand to everyone is: 48 Hrs Post Op= clear liquids, broth, Water, tea,Crystal light, fruit juice/no pulp, sugar free popsicles Rest of week 1= liquid now including Protein drink, apple sauce, sugar free pudding/jello/ and everything from the 48 hr phase. week 2/3 = these are blended together but basically say mushie foods such as creamed soups, etc slowly moving torward more mushie foods such as mashed potatoes, etc. week 3/4= solid foods.. (cant wait honestly) -
I had a 500 Dollar program fee from a place called "True Results". Not bad since it includes all the support, etc.

Any July Bandsters out there?
TheArchitects replied to mgmagnolia's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well, I had my surgery on July 2, 2009. The Operation was done in about 45 minutes and I was out of the surgery center a few hours after arriving. The pain immediately after surgery was not that bad. I rated by pain at about 2 out of 10. The gas pain sucked alot, it felt like my chest was in a vise all day and I couldn't really get rid of that feeling the first day. That evening is when I felt most sore. I ended up taking some of the liqiud pain meds they prescribed before bed. Day 2: Pain still mild, I noticed a sharp pain when I sat/or stood up from the largest of the incision areas. It actually felt like it was near the incision, not the incision itself. I am guessing that it might be the port causing the pain? not really sure. The second evening I did not have to take the pain meds as I didn't feel too bad. The gas pain was also very mild. I have been eating alot of those gas-x strips:) Day 3: Saturday was actually not that bad, I figured if I pressed my hand against my stomach when i stood or sat, the sharp pain went away. Mostly lots of stomach talking and making noise. It's not that I feel the urge to go eat anything, its just wierd. Oh and the first day of eating jello/pudding. Absolutely great. Day 4: Most of the sharp pain I had from earlier is gone. I can still feel it but not as bad. Overall I feel alright. I am not dizzy or anything. When I have something to drink or eat, as a apple sauce, my stomach starts to roar. I think my stomach is mad because it hasn't had any solid food for 5 days. Oh and the thing that sucks for me the most the first couple nights was not being able to really sleep on my left side. The pain was too much. I just love to roll around when I sleep, so laying on my back or just to the right, really sucked. -
Surgery on Friday, back at work on Tuesday?
TheArchitects replied to NinaC's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Why don't they just drain out the gas before they sew you up! -adding Gas-x to my list. -

Can I ride the Elliptical machine? I have been doing that for 5 days straight, for the last 5 weeks Pre-OP. This is going to kill me! -
1/2 way thru first day of Pre-op
TheArchitects replied to CarlinsMom's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am on day 10 of this pre-op diet. Mostly I have done well, I do admit to cheating a few times though as I thought I was going to die of hunger. What I started craving for some reason are dill pickles. They have no nutritional value whatsoever but they are great! Ofcourse there is the salt, but I figure Rome wasn't built in a day. -
I cant believe it! APPROVED!! :)
TheArchitects replied to angelic3432's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congrats! I have Aetna and it took them 1 month exactly to approve my surgery. That and they required 4 months of different things. But it was worth it. -

Protein - I'm at a loss...
TheArchitects replied to Cherishthepast's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I tried the APEX Vanilla Protein Meal replacement. Nasty stuff (I tossed it). I now have this Vanila Whey Protein Isolate from Costco, that is very smooth and contains 20g of protein per serving. I got the vanilla but they also have chocolate. -
That is so weird. I was told not to lose any weight and maintain my weight until I was approved.

Any July Bandsters out there?
TheArchitects replied to mgmagnolia's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
July 2nd. I have 2 more days before I start with the 2-week diet. Not looking forward to it mainly because I eat lunch with my coworkers almost everyday and I just don't have a good excuse to tell them what I am doing. Moreso, its really not any of their business.
