Gosh, I'm now 6 days out, but it seems like forever on these liquids. Last night I made Tapioca. Love tapicoca, but be careful not to get too much in there at once !!! Just read somebodies post about tomato soup. Think that is what I'm having tonight. yummm. Went to lunch with some girlfriends, and we always meet at this Mexican food place. I asked for a CUP of just the juice from Tortilla soup. The waiter brought me one of GIANT bowls of the juice that you get for a main meal at Italian restaurants!!!! OMG! What, did he think I was going to swim in it? Only got down about 6 or 7 spoons. Sure am ready to start the squishy foods. There is definitly nothing wrong with my nose. My port incision is still very sore, not too bad when I'm reclining. But I came back to work today, and sitting upright has really been painful. Also, still itching like crazy. Get some of those NEXCARE cloth dressings to replace after your showers. The regular bandaid tore up my skin! Not sure how to word this. Did anyone else get their boobs glued out of the way during surgery???

I called the doctor's office and they said 3-4 Atkins Hi protein drinks, and all the clear liquids I cared for. Apparently it is more important to get the protein than for the liquids to be clear! Yesterday, I pulled out the crock pot and put in a roast, Onions, potatoes, carrots and some herbs (rosemary, oregeno and Thyme) and lots of water. Put it on high for 8 hours. Hubby thought it was a little runny, but I strained the broth, and it was like the nectar of the gods (especially after a week of atkins shakes). Anyway, I divided some into containers and into the freezer. Also took some of the broth, potatoes and carrots which I dropped in the food blender for when I'm ready for soft food. YUM. Also made up some jello in small containers (no reds - bummer) However, I did find some Pineapple jello this past weekend. Sounds interesting! Tonight - I'm going to do the same thing with a chicken so that I'll have plenty of hearty broth instead of that canned water stuff.

LOL! I did a double take. What did you buy for post-sex ? I might be interested as well. I go in for surgery at 6:30 tomorrow morning (the 22nd). I'm rather nauseos from the liquid diet. Supposed to be on totally clear fluids today, so I'm confused when they said to drink the protein drinks (she told me Atkins Hi Protein). Those are NOT clear.

Your most embarrassing fat moment (sad, funny, pathetic, turning points)
TX_Quilter replied to chameleon's topic in The Lounge
One that I remember from about 75 pounds ago... I was walking through Dilliards Dept store, and this 'white trash' looking 'lady' made some rude comment about how fat I was. For once I was on the ball and came back with a fast retort of " I can fix the fat, but you can't fix how ugly you are". I walked on with a smile, but when I got to the car, I burst into tears. The incident over Memorial day this year still wasn't the last straw but humiliating just the same. Bunch of the family all went to the lake, had a picnic then was going to go fishing. I settled into a folding beach chair, and after about 10 minutes, it just collapsed. (what was that movie with Gweneth Paltrow?) Then I couldn't get up. Everyone (my family) just turned away and pretended nothing happened while I rolled over to my knees and attempted to get up. My turning point was just before the 4th of July weekend. We were going to fly hubby's plane to Atlanta to visit my daugher and her husband. Hubby hadn't seen the numbers when I stepped on the scale since last summer. Ends up I had gained enough that we would NOT have been able to take any luggage with us for a 5 day weekend! S--- hit the fan, and we drove to Atlanta (it was rather quiet in the car on the way). Hubby told the kids that we didn't fly because of the weather. I started dieting July 1, went to the seminar July 8 and am waiting on insurance for a date. -
donali and Wheetsin, My head hurts the same way as when hubby tries to explain it. He's the hard core science type also. Usually when he gets started, my eyes kinda glaze over and I start nodding my head. We've had the fly & elevator discussion many times - I think I about have him convinced it will hit the ceiling! LOL! Your descriptions make sense (especially the dead fly in a test tube), but that little part of my mind is also asking hubby while we're flying where the 'magic' went when the plane does an unexpected 'bobble' (my term, not his).
-
I live in TEXAS and the flies are much larger down here! LOL! The sticking the hand in the elevator theory doesn't work, cause your feet are still stuck to the floor outside the elevator. The fly didn't change weight when he flew into the elevator.. so unless he is flying 'down'; logic would dictate that he hit the roof... right? Or the other option you propose is that the fly has 'conscious' thought and that he flew into the elevator because it's easier than flying up the stairs?? :think hmmm....
-
Not to be gross, but I drink a LOT, and not that much comes back out in the bathroom. I must spit a lot when I talk! LOL I also can't figure out why a fly doesn't hit the roof of an elevator when it flies in the door just before it goes down, or doesn't smash into the windshield if it flies in a car window at 30 miles an hour. Hubby will like the idea of some more 'heavy breathing' !

This is one of those questions where the answer has never made sense to me. We're supposed to drink all this water. I remember the old days before weigh in at Weight Watchers (which met at lunch time) I wouldn't eat or drink all morning before the weigh in. Here's why... A gallon of water weighs approximately 8 pounds (8.34 to be exact) and a pint (which is 8oz) of water weighs 1.04375 pounds. So don't you GAIN a pound every time you drink a glass of water? And we're supposed to drink 8 glasses a day? I realize there are no calories, but WHERE does the WEIGHT go?:think

Cheating..No, not with food!
TX_Quilter replied to kimalicious's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I know I come from a very sheltered life, or maybe I'm just naive. My folks were married some 50 years without affairs, My grandparents on BOTH sides were married over 50 years - again with no affairs. In my opinion it's a matter of trust. Why would you marry someone that you don't trust 200%? I guess it's like abuse, it's kind of a self-fullfilling prophecy. If you expect your spouse to cheat, you're probably going to do something that makes him/her go outside of marriage for whatever your marriage is missing. Good grief, if I stalked, I mean check his movements and activities, my husband would ask what was wrong with ME, that I had lost trust. What was I feeling guilty about that I would transfer that guilt to HIM? Please don't flame me, ALL men DON't cheat. In my opinion its a matter of honor. If they have it they won't cheat no matter what. Some men will cheat no matter WHO they marry. Those are the ones short on honor. -
Monday July 24 - Paloma calls, indicates paperwork was filed today! Wow! Should know something by Aug 6. Please call and we can probably do surgery by end of August. This would be great as Labor Day is the first Monday and would give me extra recovery time.:omg:

July 18- Cypress Support group. July 19 - Called UHC, they have not received anything yet. July 24 - Called Spiegels office. They can't locate chart, will call me back. (never did) Friday, July 21 - Appointment with Dr. St. Laurent. Brought records for past 10 years. Talked with Jasmine & Paloma (insurance girls).
