    Hey everybody!

I'll look for some next time I'm there. The strawberry idea sounds good!
  3. Just wanted to shout out to my new friends! Lee, hope you get your approval soon - you have such a positive outlook! Connie, I am so impressed with you! You've had your band for 12 years?!! That makes me feel so much better about this being a tool for the long term. I will definitely be seeking you out for advice. I know that the band is not a quick fix and that I will still have to work hard at reaching and maintaining a healthy weight. Deb, you have had some great results - keep up the good work. I wish we had a support group here in North MS....maybe I'll find out about one when I go for my surgeon visit. Andre, sounds like things are going well for you - keep up the good work! Mary, I know you are so excited about your surgery Friday! I'll be thinking about you and praying for your success and recovery! I found a website tonight called bariatriceating.com. It had stuff like vitamin and protein supplements.I didn't know if the stuff was good, reasonably priced or overpriced. I was just wondering if some of you guys who have already been banded can recommend some of these products and tell me which ones are good and which ones are nasty? Also, where is the best place to buy them for the most reasonable price. I want to go ahead and stock my shelves with the things I'll need for after my procedure. Have a great day tomorrow, guys!

    New Medicare Changes....

I know what you mean - I don't want to say much either - I just want folks to see the results. You're right, people just don't understand our struggle. Keep the great attitude - I think that is half the battle. :clap2:

Hey Keyla! Sounds like you are doing great - it is so encouraging to hear people having success like yours. Keep up the good work, girl!:clap2:

    Hey everybody!

How does the 6 star muscle fuel taste? Is it like a shake mix or something? Good luck on the Dr. visit - only 5 more days for you!

    New Medicare Changes....

So glad everything is working out for you --just makes it seem all the more like it was meant to be. I know our state has a good retirement plan, but their insurance plan really steams me. Seems unfair that they can raise their ugly head at you as well, given the circumstances. Where is Dr Weaver-Mcgraff located? I know you can't wait for your surgery date...I can hardly wait to see Dr. King in March for my first visit. Let us know how it goes!
  8. Sorry, but no Deb, not anywhere near the Jackson area. I am in the far Northeast part of the state - up in the corner with TN & AL wedged around us - both state lines are only minutes away. Congratulations on your graduation from nursing school - that is a big accomplishment. I am an RN although right now I am not working in a clinical setting but in education. Like you, I don't think I could perform at my best at my present weight. Keep up the good work - you are doing great! By the way, my neice is living in the Jackson area while she is in nursing school at University Medical Center.

    Hey everybody!

Where do you find the eBody for Life shakes? I'd like to try some. Thanks for the tip about the Flintsones - sounds good to me. That may be what my Doc recommends...guess I'll find out when I see him!

    New Medicare Changes....

Be thankful that you have the Medicaid/Medicare option. As an emplyee of the state of MS, I am paying for health insurance that will not even entertain the idea of paying for WLS - they go as far as to have an exclusion clause. I will be paying for my surgery, fills, everything myself. Hopefully it will all work out for you and they will approve your surgery. Good luck!
  11. Hi Deb- I just noticed that you were from MS, too. Sounds like things are going well for you! I have my first appt with Dr. King in Oxford on March 13. I hope I do as well as you have done!:clap2:

    My progress report

Sounds like you are doing great! I am so impressed! I hope that my procedure and first month go as well as yours! Keep up the good work and keep us posted!:clap2: Susie

Today I received my appointment with Dr. King in Oxford on March 13. Like you, Kittykoo, I have BC/BS of MS. My husband changed jobs in August - left a lucrative job in industry to be a school teacher- and believe it or not, the insurance he had with his old job would have covered it. Now we are both teachers and of course, the state insurance has an exclusion policy. I hope I feel as you do after this is over! It's discouraging to think of paying this much out of pocket, but I am willing! Susie

Hello Lee I am from extreme Northeast Mississippi and hope to be banded this year. I know of several people in this area who have had or are having WLS. I think if more insurance companies would cover it, more people would take advantage of the opportunity. Good luck to you - hope all goes well! Susie

    Unethical bandsters?

Way to go Kathy - you are right on the money! I'll say "AMEN" to all of that!

    lack of emotional support

I agree with the majority - you were too sensitive. And in regard to folks on special diets eating beforehand if they are unsure of what is being served---any hostess who gets offended is also hypersensitive. For many people, eating the wrong food can be life threatening--not simply a matter of tastes. And like Stitchy mentioned, many people who THINK they know about what is allowed on a guests special diet don't have a clue. They mean well but don't understand. Just enjoy the company and don't focus so much on the food. That's what got us in this shape to start with!
