My surgery was done on Tuesday Feb 9
ash replied to pumpkin07's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Congratulations! Hopefully you will love your sleeve as much as I love mine! -
Well, I don't recommend this to anyone, but I had some M&M's and Goldfish crackers with my kindergarten class yesterday, and the scale went down a pound this morning! HAHA, but seriously, I've been trying my hand at baked chicken wings because I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE wings and I came up with the perfect sauce for my taste last night. It's not a traditional buffalo sauce, but it's more of a sweet/spicy sauce. My husband took a bite of the chicken and told me I was sexy. HA!

Could you give an example of what you mean by long, slow cardo and runs? Does that mean you exercised for a longer period of time? I'm going to do a jog today if I can get home before dark.
-
Yeah, my knees bother me after jogging. In fact, I jogged Monday and was miserable all day Tuesday and made me not want to exercise. They feel better today. I hope I am not doing any damage to them, but I burn so many more calories when I add some jogging to my walks.

Yeah, I think it was about 2 weeks or so...you should be fine! I had not heard the thing about being more fertile while losing weight. That is SCARY!!! I want to finish losing before I get pregnant.

How long after surgery until you can have caffeine? Also, does decaf tea count as water intake?

That's so awesome Tiffy!!! I had a little NSV yesterday when I was trying on clothes at JCPenney's... I saw this blouse that I just knew I had to have, but it was NOT in the plus size department. So, I picked up the size XL and just decided to try. IT FIT! And I bought it with a gift card, so it was free on top of that!

Zumba is my absolute favorite! I still don't have any classes near me, so I do it at home. Congrats on getting your fitness on!!
-
Uhhh, that didn't make much sense, did it! I was typing on my blackberry, so what I meant to say was until this week I hadn't exercised since Thanksgiving!!!! I feel great...I have gotten in 4 workouts this week so far!
-
I used one a couple of years ago with a trainer and he mostly had me doing ab stuff on it. I thought it was easier than doing the crunches on the floor, and I have a ball at home, and can pump it up, but there's no plug to keep the air in!!! HA!
-
Wow, thanks y'all!!! I am trying 30 day shred, but I'm just so WEAK!!! I've done it twice this week, and my regular aerobics routine twice. Until this week I hadn't exercised until this week, so I guess I shouldn't be too hard on myself for not being able to handle the strength stuff. I will have to keep working on it.
-
I looooove crossing my legs too! I will try to post a pic when I get home, but I don't get much computer time at home and I can't get to my pictures here at work!!!

Great thread! I still have a long way to go, but here are a couple of my favorites: -I bought something in a 14/16 that almost fits (got it on sale) and I don't remember EVER having a 14/16 in my closet. I've been in a 20 and up since 7th grade. Six months ago I wore a size 28. -Our church choir is broadcast on TV every Sunday, and when we were watching my husband's group singing, I noticed a girl in the choir behind them and I was like, "Oh, who is that...she's pretty!" It was me. HAHAH! I didn't even recognize myself, then felt bad for calling myself pretty!!

I started taking Biotin about 2 months ago and my hair stylist said he's noticing some new growth. I have lost more hair than I'd hoped, but I'll trade hair for losing this weight!

Anyone know how many calories in a plain-jane (regular size) cupcake? One of my students had a b-day today and his mom brought me a cupcake. The boy's eyes were on me waiting to see me eat the dern thing. Luckily I burned over 600 calories during my workout today!

Thanks so much! I couldn't get to a computer last night and was posting via my blackberry, so thanks for your help. :001_smile:

Jillian is rough. I'm going to try her 30 day shred twice a week, cardio only on the other days. Can't afford a gym membership, so dvd's will have to suffice for me!
-
I love Zumba and I usually burn between 500-700 calories, depending on how long I do it. Last night I did 45 minutes and burned a little over 600 calories. I'm going to start adding in the 30 day shred twice a week. I did level one of the shred Monday and I'm in so much pain STILL today. I'm way out of shape strength-wise. I've got plenty of cardio endurance, but when it comes to strength and flexibility, I'm out. I took about a month and a half break from exercising (Thanksgiving until this week) because of all sorts of fun excuses...I was sick, had a back thing, got a puppy, etc. HAHA! But now I'm motivated again and I'm trying to see where I can squeeze in a workout this afternoon when I really don't have time for it, but we shall see!!!

I broke down and ordered it. I cannot afford to join a gym, but I've been e-mailing local fitness clubs and asking them to start Zumba or Latin fusion classes because that is something I'd totally find some money to pay for. I'm going to buy the Zumba dvds with my next Pampered Chef commission, but I'm just so tired of my Walk Away the Pounds and my cheap elliptical machine. Anyone know how to convince local gyms to start a new class???

Oh, thank you, It was chocolate (mix, not from scratch) with canned vanilla frosting...not homemade. Does that help??? I'm used to whipping everything up from scratch, so I don't know much about canned frosting lol

How did you do for Holiday Eating?
ash replied to shutterbug's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Well, here's what I had: Breakfast was one homemade biscuit ( my hubby wanted pancakes and I refused, so he mixed up the biscuits and baked them on his new Pampered Chef stone), with a little butter and mayhaw jelly. A treat for sure! lunch was about 2 oz of roast beef, 1 tablespoon of white rice with some gravy, a bite or two of a roll, about a tablespoon of broccoli casserole, and a bite or two of salad. I ate three oreo truffles between lunch and dinner. Dinner was 2 oz of ham, 2-3 tablespoons of broccoli casserole and 2 tablespoons of homemade mac and cheese. I was WAY too full. It was a great Christmas! -
I went to visit my mom this past weekend for an early Thanksgiving, and I found my senior prom dress (from 1995). I tried it on and not only did it fit, it was a bit loose! That was kind of cool for me. I'm down 77 pounds and still have 85 to go, but I am so THANKFUL for this surgery. What a wonderful change it has brought to my life. :001_rolleyes:

Well, a month after I posted this, those numbers have changed again and I'm just thrilled! My previous post was 77 pounds down, 85 to go, and now it's 85 down and 77 to go! I'm over the hump there! I weigh on Mondays and I was really surprised with the numbers today because I haven't been exercising much at all.

I have really thin hair to begin with, and my hair falls out all the time anyway, but now its really, really bad. I'm starting to get a bald spot on top of my head. I'm going to my stylist Saturday and will discuss a new style, but I love my style now so much. My hair is in awful shape from straightening and coloring, and now I'm losing it. Maybe I'll ask for a wig for Christmas. I talked to a bariatric surgeon that just started going to my church and he recommended Biotin, but I haven't seen a change.
