Just curious how many calories those of you who are six months out or more are eating a day. Honestly. I find that I can hit 1000 calories in no time. I have upped my exercise to burn between 500-800 calories a day about 4-5 times a week because I'm just finding that I can totally eat up to 1200 calories in a day. And my portions are not big. 4 oz - 4 1/2 oz only.

I will say that since I've lost weight and my husband hasn't (he's still over 300 pounds), it's hard for me to BREATHE during sex because he crushes me!! He gets a little frustrated with this, so I try very hard to hide it. But, now that I've lost a bunch of weight, I say things like, "Feel this BONE right here" and he laughs at me because everything is way different now. I can't imagnine what it will be like when I get the rest of this weight off!!!

When I hit the three week stall, concentrating on getting in all or more of my water really seemed to help. I was feeling funky and once I started getting in all the water, I felt much better and the scale started moving again. Congrats on your loss so far!

MILESTONE (for me) + 2 QUESTIONS
ash replied to pastorgregumc's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I eat Peanut Butter occasionally (like once or twice a month) and it doesn't give me trouble any more. I am 8 months out, though. I remember being about 3-4 months out and it felt like it was stuck. It was just a little discomfort, nothing major. I don't lose consistently any more. In the beginning, I lost 4-6 pounds a week, then it slowed to 1-3, and now it could be anywhere from losing nothing in a week to losing 3-4 pounds a week, depending on how strict I am with carbs and how much I exercise. I haven't been exercising this week, and work has been crazy, so I think I might even be up a pound come Monday. I have a few more weeks of teaching left before summer break, and I'm looking forward to being at home because I don't snack at home like I do at work. Hopefully I will see a lot of weight come off in June and July! Congratulations on your milestone! You're doing great! -
Well, I do a lot of Jillian Michaels workouts, which are tough, but there is something she does a lot in her workouts, which is a basic punching motion. Like you are hitting a punching bag. She bends her knees (in squat position) and just punches away. The only reason I mention this is because she says that kind of upper body workout is great for people who have lower body injuries. I thought it was kind of silly, but it really does get your heart going! She also does upper cuts, which is in squat position, punching straight above your head. I know you can't do punching alone as a workout, but this might help some!

I think I want to sell my husband to pay for my surgery! (VERY long)
ash replied to goodlife's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
My husband once told me that if I didn't get skinny, he'd go have sex with a skinny girl. Seriously. We'd only been married about 5 months when he said that. And the thing that made me so mad was that HE needs to lose over 150 pounds himself. Luckily when I brought up surgery, he was okay with it, but we went round and round for the first year of our marriage about MY weight and how I needed to lose it and he swore I couldn't do it with Weight Watchers or anything else (I had lost about 60 on WW years ago and gained it all back), and he'd YELL when I'd by those 100 calorie Snacks. It was awful. So now that I've lost so much weight he reminds me that he was the one who married me when I was fat. Like he did me a favor. I don't mean to put him in such a bad light, and we are happy now, but that first year of marriage was tough for us. Now he's gaining weight and I'm losing it and it's getting to him. Thanks for letting me vent too! I sometimes forget about all the fights we've had about my weight, but then when I see someone else having trouble with their husband, it comes right back to me! Just do it, girl. Do it for YOU! -
I just need to say this to someone, and since none of you really know me, I figured it's safer to say it here than my blog! I'm ready to be a mom. I want to be pregnant so bad. I had this surgery so I could be pregnant at a "healthy" weight. When I got married I was 31 years old and weighed about 330. A year later I was facing my 32nd birthday and weighed 351. So, along came the VSG and has really changed my life. My husband's brother got married 2 weeks before my surgery last summer and they are expecting their first child in May. I'm so jealous. I really want to lose another 65 pounds or so before I get pregnant, but now my thought is, I'm going to be 33 in June and what if it takes us a year to get pregnant? That age (33) damn near OLD in the maternity world!!! So now I'm thinking that as soon as I lose another 50 pounds I'm going to talk to my husband about starting to try. I can still lose weight while we are trying! I hope he goes for it. And I hope this gives me the motivation to lose that next 50 pounds! Thanks for letting me get that off my chest!

That's so awesome! congrats :lol0:

I have to say I took a "nutrition vacation" the past 4 days when i was visiting family in TX. It was pretty bad---the things I ate! I felt like my "old" self for a couple of days even though I couldn't finish that big plate of burrito like I wanted to, HAH! However, I'm back home now and back on track as of right now (just woke up). Having my Protein bar as I type. Going to the store later to restock the fridge...the hubs actually cleaned it out while i was gone!

I've known for a while that a new pair of jeans was going to have to happen soon. I have one pair that "fits" and by that, I mean that they are long enough on me. I am 6'1" and it's HARD to find women's pants/jeans that are long enough. The one pair I have can be taken off withough even unbuttoning and unzipping them. That being said, and this might be more in the category of JUST PLAIN SAD, I took off running after my puppy yesterday and MY JEANS CAME DOWN IN FRONT OF THE WHOLE NEIGHBORHOOD! One hand was tied up with her leash and the other was holding my pants up. SAD, but fun at the same time! HA!

Should I cancel my surgery? Help!
ash replied to karaserene1985's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Here's what I know from my personal experience: I spent close to $5000 in a year on a personal trainer and nutritionist. I lost 30 pounds. I gained it back without even really trying. I had the VSG in July of 09 and I lost 100 pounds in 8 months. Now, I know there are many who have complications, but I have not. I followed doctor's orders and now that I'm completely healed, I feel amazing. You do what is right for YOU and as long as you have your husband's support, go for it. My husband encouraged me to do it long before I was mentally ready. The sleeve gives me that will power to stop eating when I'm full. I never could do that on my own. And believe me, I'm full FAST. I still have days where I snack between meals when I shouldn't, but those days come and go and I'm still losing. I think you have a lot of support here. Best of luck to you! -
Want to track your progress? This is awesome

WHOA! This thing wants me to weigh 166! WOW! However, I'm comforted that the average woman my height weighs 192. That's more like it. HA! Thanks for my new obsession!!! -
A friend of mine swears she got pregnant by taking her temperature daily? I think that's what she told me. This was a couple of years ago. My husband thinks that when I'm off the pill I'll want to do it all the time. HAHA, we'll see. I'm sorry pregnant women are torturing you. It isn't a torture for me yet, but Josh's cousin is having a baby next week, then our sister in law in may, and two more of his cousin's wives in June and July. It's ridiculous. His grandparents have something like 30 great-grandchildren and they just keep coming. The number of kids under 5 at Sunday lunch is like 10 kids or something crazy. BABIES EVERYWHERE. And we attend a Sunday School class for new parents, so that's fun. Last year at work, we had about 5 baby showers if I am remembering right. I don't think anyone at work is pregnant right now, which I'm sure my principal is loving. I just hope I'm as fertile as the rest of my husband's family seems to be.

Well, when i got home yesterday, I just decided to tell my husband my plan. He had the day off and seemed to be in a good mood, so I just said, "Babe, when I lose 150 pounds, I want to get off the pill. I can still lose the rest of the weight while we are trying." He was like, "Ok, that's fine." YAY! He wants his brother's kids and our kids to be close in age like he was with his cousins, so he's all good with it!

Ladies, I'm so SO glad I'm not alone here with this issue! I just keep telling myself that it might be as early as this summer that we can start trying. :crying: Best of luck to you all, and I will send baby vibes to those of you who want them!

I have finally lost 100 pounds! I got my husband to take some pictures. We were in a hurry and they aren't too great, but whatever! I'm glad to be here after 8 months...I think 100 pounds in 8 months is pretty incredible! It's a beautiful day out, so I'm off the computer and back outdoors with the puppy!

No, I'm terrified of jogging on the treadmill! I usually just throw a little jogging in when I'm walking my puppy, but I mostly do Jillian Michael's workouts and Zumba dvd at home. -

I'm going to upload a photo that I just took from the Dillard's dressing room in a dress I TOTALLY cannot afford. I went in the room with a size 16, completely expecting it to NOT FIT, but it fit. And it fit well. I just couldn't bring myself to spend $100 on a dress that might not fit in a few months. That, I and just don't need to spend the money. HA! But, coming from wearing a size 26/28 and fitting in a 16 feels soooo good! -
Hello there and congratulations on your surgery date!! I will also be in Texas visiting my family during your surgery! I wish you the best.

Thanks for the suggestions, Tracy! Laura, I don't have kids yet (hoping to get pregnant after I reach goal), but I'm a kindergarten teacher. The kids bring a snack every day for after nap time and that's my BIGGEST weakness. We eat lunch at 11 a.m., so by 3 p.m. when they snack, I am ready to snack too!!! I will have to start packing my own snack with my lunch. BUT, spring break is coming up and then only 6 more weeks until summer. I want to be under 200 by my birthday, but I'm going to have to kick some major booty to get there!!! (June 27)

I know my problem is snacking between meals. I don't do it too much, but that's how I'm getting to 1000 so quick... I do great when I'm at home because I don't keep snack-type food around, but it's at work that I have the problem. That crap is all over the place!! I just need to use more will power.

I worked not far from there...Barrington Place Elem. I grew up near Wharton. My family is still near Wharton, so I visit about once a month. It really is growing so fast! -
Okay, I was short on time yesterday (I have about an hour between work and church on Wednesdays), so I decided to do the first day of this program, and I was amazed! It's still hard on my knees, but I burned 400 calories in 30 minutes! I did a little extra walking at the end, but I am going to make an effort to do this 3 times a week for sure. I need to print out the program again because I can't remember what comes next!
