I'm also not even worrying about Protein until I get on mushies. I do already have my first mushy meal planned, and I'm still a week and a half away! My doc has me on clears for the first three days after surgery only. Curious as to how long you guys are on clears after surgery? Also how long on fulls? I'm clears day 1-3, then fulls days 4-14, then pureed foods.

What brand tomato soup did you use? I love tomato soup, but I think it has some added sugars, no? I'm making my shopping list now!!!

Awesome. I had some broth last night and it was amazingly good. It's been the first salty thing I've had since surgery. I was pretty tired of jello and juice! We have some decaf family size tea bags, and I just need to get up and make some! When I was in the hospital, they gave me the cutest little Lipton individual tea bag (for 4 oz of hot water) and I hope I can find some of those in the store. I love tea.

Well, I'm a teacher so I'm trying to get a few more days of good sleeping in before the chaos starts!!! Glad you got to sleep in this morning!:001_smile:

Mostly. Sometimes it still happens when I eat. It just happened a few seconds ago when I was eating some jello, but the jello was the first thing I've eaten today. I've been sleeping in a lot.

Ok, for just $10 I think I will go ahead and order the nectar samples. I'll also stock up on Crystal Light to mix with them just in case! Does anyone know if juice from chicken noodle Soup is considered clear? I'm supposed to be able to move on to fulls today, but I only had to do 3 days of clears and I kind of want to stay on them a few more days.

Ok, I think I may have figured out The Pain. HA! I think, honestly, it might be hunger. It's weird though, because I don't feel hungry. The pains aren't like regular stomach growling. And since the pains that happen on their own have just been in the mornings when I'm waking up, I think my new stomach is saying, "FEED ME PLEASE" and I'm like, "STOP PAINING ME." So, maybe that's it!
-
Every now and then they are painful, but mostly just bothersome. It's been better today for sure.

I can have warm liquids. I noticed that the cramping happened more with juice, even at room temp. I drink my Water at room temp too. Jello doesn't bother me for some reason. I had some "hot" tea in the hospital and am hoping I can get someone to go get me some at the store today. HOWEVER, the cramping is random. It happened this morning several times before I got out of bed and I hadn't had anything to drink since the night before. That's what worries me.

Does VSG improve your sex drive???
ash replied to susimar's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I know my husband is hoping the answer is YES, YES, YES! -
well, I still have the burping, but the cramping up of my stomach is bothering me more than the burping. I've been on jello and water. Luckily there isn't any physical hunger, but I surely don't want to cause a leak.

How soon after surgery did the scale drop? Mine has gone up since surgery.

Should sipping be getting easier?
ash replied to TennJenn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had surgery Tuesday and it is so strange to drink things and have my stomach kind of cramp up. I'm so scared I'm going to cause a leak. So this feeling is normal? -
Posting from my blackberry, so this will be short. The surgery went well, and I had a surprise when I woke up...they repaired a hiatal hernia I didn't even know I had! So now I'm sipping some Water (finally) and waiting on some liquid breakfast! Just wanted to check in. Amanda

Hello all! I am very excited to find this site. I've been reading threads here and researching the sleeve for a while now. I actually had a consultation last week with a surgeon for the lap-band, and he asked if I was interested in the sleeve. At the time, I was not sure, but now I'm thinking I'd rather do the sleeve than the band. Since my appointment, I've spent most of my time online reading forums and researching, and to be honest, I have come very close to scaring myself out of the band. I'm having to self-pay anyway (and the band and sleeve are the same price where I'm going), so of course now I'm freaking out about band complications and where in the world I'd get the money for them if they arise. My main concern with the sleeve is whether or not it is safe to get pregnant sometime after goal. I've been married a year and it's very important for my husband and I to have a family, so if the sleeve would get in the way of that, I guess should choose the band. Does anyone here know anything about that? I'm waiting on a call from the surgeon's office so I can ask some more questions. Right now I'm really leaning toward the sleeve. Oh, also what about recovery time? My doctor said it was about the same as the band. I am out of school for the summer, and will probably have the surgery done next month. I need to be in a wedding on August 1, so I'm curious how long it takes to be up and moving after the surgery. Thanks in advance for any replies or help/suggestions you guys can give!

This might sound strange to some, but for those of you who have been through surgery, how long does your throat hurt after? I have been asked to sing a solo in church August 9th and my voice is pretty delicate anyway, so I'm worried I won't be in full voice by then. My surgery is Tuesday, July 14th

Another newbie with many, many questions!
ash replied to ash's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Well, this is it! I am leaving early in the morning. Have to be at the hospital at 5:30 a.m. and I live an hour and a half away. I'm excited! Will post when I can...Thanks to everyone here...your advice and stories have really helped prepare me for this! -
I have some of those! Not sure of the flavors...yellow and red, haha! I forgot about them, but since I'm on clear liquids only for today, I might need to break into the box!

Will definitely be praying. What a scary thing!

Best of luck to you! I will keep you in my prayers. -
Sorry, I didn't see this until just now! I'm ready. It's hard not to tell everyone what I'm doing because I'm so excited. My husband has a huge, very opinionated (not to mention SKINNY) family, and I've told a few of his cousins, but I'm trying to keep it to myself until after the surgery. We had a bridal shower for my sis-in-law today and I sat politely with my bottle of Water while everyone else ate the yummy food. I've got to sit through one more shower tomorrow, then Monday should be fine because I have no plans. I'm not nervous yet. Ask me Tuesday, and I'll probably be a ball of nerves. I bet I won't get any sleep Monday night! What's the update with you?

From a size 22/24 to a 4/6, Band to Sleeve
ash replied to WASaBubbleButt's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
My best friend, who is thin now but had weight issues in the past, is going to be the one taking me for surgery. She watched the procedure on youtube and called me to say, "God should have just made our stomachs that way in the first place!' Good idea! :biggrin0: -
I went back and read my bari-bible and it said to switch to clear liquids the day before surgery. I will do it then, but you're right...I need a little variety. Luckily for me, clear liquids after surgery is only for the first 3 days. I can move to full liquids on day 4.

haha! too cute

This is totally off topic, but I love the name Emerson! My husband and I are already talking baby names even though it's a couple of years off before we really have to decide on one. We seem to agree wholeheartedly on a boy name, but he's skeptical of my girl name! Can't wait to get this weight off so I can be a mom. :001_smile:
