Sleeping post op????
ash replied to BeardedItalian48's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ok, I think I was just fooling myself about being able to sleep well! I haven't been on pain meds for over 24 hours now, and I think that is what was making me sleep so well! I couldn't go to sleep last night at all. It was after 1 before I fell asleep, it was a toss and turn night, and I was up at 6:30! HA! We'll see if tonight goes a little better! -
You are so lucky, Daisy! What an awesome thing to be able to tolerate anything. Love it! I will try the Vitamins next week when I move to mushies. I'm losing about 2 pounds a day right now, and though I have A LOT to lose, the 2 pounds a day thing is freaking me out a bit. I am guess it will slow down when I'm off liquids. I'm going to check out the ensure on my shopping trip today. I've been off the pain meds for over 24 hours, so I'm good to drive now!!!

I'd like to try the cheddar potato soup! It's on my list for the grocery trip!

Glad I'm not the only one! I did veer off the beaten path today for some strained vegetable Soup. WOO HOO

This is gross, but...I need to know!

Good plan! Y'all are so wonderful!!! Thanks...going to dig out the band aids now! -
Ok, so I'm sure there is already a thread out there on this, but I'm on drugs and just want to get back in bed. The dr let me come home yesterday and I really do feel pretty good except the weird pain/cramp that happens when I drink. It doesn't happen every time, but a burp usually follows. Is this normal? I told the Dr about it because it has happened since I started drinking after surgery. I am sipping and I passed the leak tests, so I'm assuming my new tummy is just getting used to things? The burping also happens when I'm not sipping. Also, I slept in a chair last night and my feet were on the floor, not propped up...woke up with terribly swollen ankles. Should that be a worry? I've been doing my breathing exercises and walking around. Walking is easy...never had any trouble after that first walk post-op where my knees felt like rubber. Anyway, thanks for any advice you guys can give. Oh, and is it possible for me to do something that would cause a leak? Today I have sipped diluted grape juice and Water only. I'm paranoid

I also love facebook and have to be very careful with what i say there, especially since so many work friends and my husband's family don't know I had this surgery. I want to celebrate, but at the same time, I know a lot of them may not understand, so I just say very vague things sometimes.

It's awful! Today my husband is off, so we went to the grocery store together. He bought some of that ready to eat rotisserie chicken and on the way home he was like, "Are you mad at me?" And I said, "No, I'm mad at that chicken smelling so good." I'm having a lingerie shower at my house Friday night, and I'm only in charge of drinks, so I'm making virgin strawberry daiquiris and something called a tropical sunrise. The other hostesses are bringing the food, so it works out well for me!

HA! I had a similar situation in my pre-op class, but not quite as severe. I just can't imagine going into something like and not being as prepared as possible, you know? that being said, I had a dream I ate fried chicken last night. It was like I forgot about the sleeve and just tore in! Thank goodness it was just a dream!

It's kind of scary isn't it??? How much longer are you on liquids? I have 9 days left, I think.
-
I don't even like full liquids! I haven't gotten any protein in...maybe 10-15 grams a day so far. I tried a carnation instant breakfast mixed with chocolate soy slender, and I couldn't finish it all it was so sweet. I have got to start getting in the protein. I'm going to order the Nectar samples today.

Well, I must be really hungry because I had a dream about eating fried chicken last night. In the dream I was at my mom's house and she had all this chicken from Popeye's and I tore into it. I was also drinking a COKE! I just ate and drank like normal thenfreaked out because I'd forgotten about my sleeve. Weird. I'm eating Jello at the moment, lol

10 days post surgery - how much should the intake be?
ash replied to Chin's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Seriously. Can you believe they actually wrote that in the guidelines for pureed foods? I mean, come on. Who's gonna think about putting pizza in a blender, really? Well. My husband did get pizza during my pre-op diet and asked he could blend some for me. But he's a little strange sometimes, lol! I'm am so looking forward to chicken, tuna, chili, whatever! I'm ready. -

I didn't sleep well last night because the power went out and that means my husband SNORED all night. He couldn't use his cpap or whatever it's called. Other than that, I'm good. I sleep, I nap, I have to make myself not sleep so much! -
My burps haven't gotten loud yet. Maybe I'll get lucky!
-
Don't worry, I'm sure everything will be fine! I hadn't had blood work done in YEARS, at least 15, and everything was good. I found out AFTER the surgery that I'm a little anemic, but apparently not enough to cancel surgery.

10 days post surgery - how much should the intake be?
ash replied to Chin's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hmm, in my booklet, it says anything that can be blended can be eaten, but you have to make the right choices. But who wants to eat blended pizza anyway, right??? I am going to try things like pureed chili and beans when I get to that stage, but those probably won't be the first things I try. I'll start off with something like pureed tuna maybe. I can't wait to be off liquids! -

Today is our first anniversary and my husband is way disappointed we can't celebrate properly. I told him I'd make it up to him next year by letting him do it with a skinny woman! -
I'm on the other side too

Helen, so good to hear from you. I had my surgery the day after you, I think! Hope the rest of your recovery is quick and pain-free! -
To Tell ....or not to tell
ash replied to attitudefree's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree--it is a personal choice. My mother and sisters know, and my mom supported me so much that she has helped me pay for the surgery. My husband's family is HUGE, you have no idea, so we finally told his parents because they'd be mad if they found out later...they are big into praying for people. We told my husbands siblings and a few of my friends just for support. Now that I've had the surgery, I don't really see the need to tell anyone unless it comes up. I also had a hiatal hernia repaired during surgery, so now VegasAngel has given me an idea of what to say when people see me not eating! I have a few big events coming up while I'm still on liquids, so I know people are going to ask. There was only one person who wasn't too supportive, and I was disappointed because I consider her to be like a second mom to me. I think she was just more concerned and thought that I really didn't know what I was getting myself into. She said something like, "Better you than me" and it hurt my feelings. But other than that, everyone has been very supportive. -
Saying "hi"-introducing myself...

Awesome story, and welcome to this board! It is a really great place and visiting here has become part of my daily routine. My doctor is sometimes surprised at what I know and I have to say it's because of everyone else's experiences that I've learned about here. Keep up the great work and thanks for sharing your story! ~Amanda -
OH SWEET! I love sour cream. Now I'm super excited! Now that I look, the list also says I can have the inside of a bean burrito? I'm gonna go stalk the Taco Bell menu. So ready to chew something! Susan, I figured as much on the rice. I drained some of the soup that I didn't freeze tonight and it was fantastic, so I will try a little of it pureed later on.
-
Well, the bari-bible they gave me said that Taco Bell has some pintos and cheese that work for mushies! So I might try that. Some friends brought over some chicken and rice soup yesterday, and I can't have it yet, so I froze it in individual servings. I might blend some of that up. Anyone have trouble with white rice?
