Did anyone struggle deciding which WLS to have done? Let me know why you chose the Lapband over GB and this would include pros and cons... GiGi:kiss2:

Let me know so we can talk about any issues related to banding... Thanks, GiGi:kiss2:

My dives ever were on our honeymoon. We went to the FP. In Bora Bora we saw manta rays gliding around us with probably 10 foot wing spans...They were so majestic. Then in Moorea it was diving with a 12 foot lemon shark. I never thought in my life I would dive with sharks, but it is really cool. We also dove with plenty of frindly black tip sharks. I would encourage people to dive even if they were not at their goal weight. It's the one place you feel weightless...It's definately a sport large people can do. If you want to learn to scuba dive, look up a local dive shop, most offer classes for a certification. Most folks get the 60ft certification. You can rent equipment. You can also take recreation classes at resorts in exotic locals. I believe you can dive with dive master w/out an actually certification, they just teach you a few things before you go. Wheetsin, thx for checking w/ Inamed....I guess like everything else with the Lapband it depends on the individual how the depth will effect the individual....

Thanks for the responses. Who is "Inamed?" I'm new to the site, so I'm just getting to know the lingo. I'm happy to hear there are some fellow bander-divers out there (although I'm not banded yet). I'm even more happy to hear that we can still dive recreationally. Although, on occasion I have dived in depths of 100ft (usually not planned, but when on vacation sometimes the opportunity to do a wreck dive pops up. And wrecks are usually at greater depths). I guess I just won't be able to be spontaneous anymore. Any more info would be greatly apprectiated, especially as I consider the proceedure and how it would effect my everyday life. Thanks Gigi:kiss2:

Welcome I am new too. I'm just in the data collecting phase. You are so lucky that you are so close to your banding date. Gigi:D -

I am an advid scuba diver and was wondering if anyone who has been banded, dives. If anyone out there is can you tell me if the band effects it at all? Thanks, GiGi :help: :help: :help: :help: :help: :help: :help: :help: :help: :help: :help: :help: -
I've been trolling for a couple of weeks now and wanted to say "hi." A little about me. I'm 33, 5' 6" 1/2 and 255ish. I tired of looking at the fat girl in the mirror. I'm tired of people giving me the "once over" stare ( I feel like sayin "yeah, I know I'm fat"). I'm tired of having trouble of sitting in airplane seats (now I can't even put the snack tray down) movie seats and those plastic white outdoor chairs. I'm tired shopping in the plus sized stores. I'm tired of being tired and fatigued. I'm tired of my knee hurting all the time and other various jonts. I've tried everything to lose weight, Jenny Craig, WW, ADKINS, South Beach and even diet pills w/ ephedra in it.....None worked long term. I am seriously considering the Lap Band. I'm even scheduled to attend my first educational class on the proceedure on 7/21. I understand that the practice that I'm looking into is one of the top two in the country. Then I am scheduled to see my primary on 7/24 to have a physical and discuss if she will give me a referral. She's really conservative, so I hope she gives me one. A couple years ago I asked her about prescribing meds for weight loss and she looked at me like "hey fatty, can't do it yourself?" But she really said that none of the prescription diet pills are proven effective. I'm nervous on a few levels....One can I get a referral from my Dr.? Two will my insurance approve? Third, if my insurance doesn't approve, how will I manage a self-pay. Not to mention the risks associated w/ the surgery. From viewing everyone's posts it has given me hope for the future. GiGi:kiss2:
