Try Chamomile tea.

I was wondering the same as you, Julie. I actually bought one because of people saying they carried a pillow to brace their incisions after the surgery. I haven't read anyone who has talked about using one. I hope someone who has used it will share their experience.

Maybe change surgery from RNY to Sleeve?
Ima Fox replied to amazon's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey Ladies. How did your scars heal with diabetes? I have it and think it might prolong my healing. How did your scars do? -
I bought a box of GasX strips. It was recommended on a list I read of things you need. Sending healing vibes. Get well soon.

Please follow up with a medical professional. Low blood sugar is a bad thing. My son had to go to the hospital in an ambulance because of it. He is so skinny. He looks like a stick figure. Good luck to you.

I'd better stuff myself with salad before I start the pre-op diet. I will miss salad the most. I eat it everyday. I particularly love Jason's Deli salad bar & Sweet Tomatoes. Maybe I'll have a ticker that counts days without salad (smirk). I'm comforted to know that its temporary. I think I'll probably have to use protein forever because there is no way I'll be eating enough meat to do the job. I hope to do a lot of juicing. I'll bet you can juice your salad if you can't wait.

Ok Girl! The bootys' lookin good (tiny)! You can rock the cargo pants without fear of the pockets making you look just that much bigger. I feel so inspired by everyone else's story. You all really give me hope. The surgery gives the double happiness of good health & cuteness. Congratulations, Greensleeve. I'm really happy for you.

"Why don't you just diet and work out?!?"
Ima Fox replied to mamaofmatthew's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Moonbright, I tried to have a homebirth (Water birth) the 1st time. Unfortunately I picked a bad midwife. I ended up going to the hospital where I got a good midwife. The next time I had great midwives, but they wouldn't let me give birth in the center because she was breech. Luckily, I found a Dr. who let me have her without a section. Whenever there is a pregnant teacher @ my school I tell them, call me if you go into labor & I'll catch your baby for you! They think I'm crazy, but I'm totally serious. I hope to catch my daughter's baby one day. You were so lucky to have a birth experience that was sacred instead of medical. -

Congrats, Greensleeve! I will be so happy when I can fit into a 16. That might even make me take a photo, which I avoid like crazy. I did discover a few size 18s in my closet recently (clutter city) but I'm sure the 16's are long gone. My last straw before my decision to get the $ for the surgery is that if I gain anymore weight I wouldn't be able to get clothes from a normal store. I guess I'd have to buy them online. No more Macy's. I feel stupid that I bought 3 shirts size L recently in anticipation of being able to wear them (so cute & on sale-but still putting the cart before the horse). There is a plus size resale store that I will sell my good stuff to & whatever I can't sell goes to the women's shelter. Here's to smaller sizes!

Almost 1 month after operation - losing more than 1lb per day
Ima Fox replied to Knapptown357's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Good for you, friend! You are working out like a gladiator & already seeing the rewards. You sound so happy! I'm happy for ya! I hope I can exercise a fraction of what you do. I'll have to start out slowly & build my way up to normal exercise. I pray I can do it. I really want to. I might have to pay the kids as personal trainers. Whatever it takes. I plan to be more organized so I won't have an excuse not to work out. I'm going to start visualizing it. Thanks for sharing your great success! -
"Why don't you just diet and work out?!?"

I keep going back and forth over whether I will tell people the truth or lie. The people I know will ask directly if I had WLS when they notice I have dropped a significant amount of weight. I don't feel like I owe anyone an explanation, but I'm not necessarily inclined to lie. I would usually just tell the truth. But if someone starts with unsolicited commentary or morbid stories of death, I could possibly release the Cracken. No good would come of it. I think our principal had WLS, but when I asked her about her weight loss, she didn't say she did. She said she changed her diet. She dropped about 50-60 lbs over the summer, so....She obviously told a partial truth. I need to find a diplomatic response & practice it. -
Hello Friend, It seems to me like you aren't ready to have the procedure. I think you should wait until you're ready. You might want to cancel or postpone your surgery. You might also want to interview other Drs. if you don't feel comfortable asking him/her medical questions or think s/he is too aggressive. Many questions you asked are medical and should be addressed to a medical professional regarding thyroid, anemia, etc. I'm a teacher too and will have 3 wks recovery before I have to return to the trenches. My surgery will be July 24th and I'm going for it. I'm sure I want it but am also really scared because I've never had surgery. My mom has had quite a few and shes still around to tell it. I'm ready for a change. Trust your intuition & be true to yourself. The surgery is voluntary. You don't have to do it right now or ever. If your heart is telling you to wait, then wait. Good luck to you.

So scary. I pray this doesn't happen to me. I'll be using gelatin as well as biotin. Unlike you, I don't have the hair to spare. Good luck.

Be happy. I don't want to lose too fast because I don't want my skin hanging off. Psychologically, its almost as bad as being fat. Maybe slow weight loss is a gift. I hope you keep losing steadily. You started out weighing 174. I will be happy when I get to 174. If you are exercising & gaining muscle, you won't see a dramatic weight loss. Maybe if you measure you'll see that you lost inches. Good luck.

My surgery was today and i feel great!

Yay! It sounds like all went great for you. I'm glad and hope the rest of your recovery will be this smooth & easy. Stay positive! Wishing you continued success. -
If you have Netflix, check out a documentary called "Sick, Fat & almost Dead." It's about the benefits of juicing. Maybe it will help you detox your body and jump start your weight loss. I haven't had any surgical procedure yet, but I picked the sleeve because many people seem to have your problem with the band. I decided that I just don't want to deal with it, even though it was my 1st choice. My 2nd choice was sleeve plication. My 3rd choice is VSG, which is what I will actually have. Good luck to you! Do something, even if you just get a friend to walk with you everyday because wedding planning is stressful. They are going to make you taste a lot of cake flavors . Do you want to talk to your Dr. about getting a fill? Be ready for one of the most beautiful days of your life.

Methods of Self paying
Ima Fox replied to stacey3272's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
My sorority sister used him and likes him very much. I went to his website and he had a paypal link, so that is very convenient. If I were you I would just call or email the Dr. you are interested in using, because everyone is different. I paid my deposit via paypal, but they want cash or money order drawn from a specific bank for the final payment. I'm going to get the money order because I don't feel comfortable with that much cash. -
12 weeks- attempt @ lettuce fail
Ima Fox replied to mon_jam74's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I love veggies so much. Hopefully I will be juicing during my liquid phase. Have you seen that documentary about juicing called "sick, fat and almost dead?" It's no Netflix. Check it out if you can. When I'm ready to phase in veggies, I might start with blending them in a blender. My 12 weeks post op will be in Oct. I would love to enjoy a salad for my birthday. I hope it didn't make you feel sick. -

I am interested in a support group here as well. My date is July 24th in Mexico (self-pay). I'm concerned that I don't know where to go for any follow up care, won't have a nutritionist or dietitian. It will just be me handling it or not handling it. Please let me know if you make this happen. Thanx, Ima

Blessings to the 3 of you having surgery tomorrow. Keep visualizing a positive outcome. I believe with you for the same. ((((((Group hug))))))
