  1. I'm just wondering...(I'm not banded YET but I will be soon) I love my meat burnt. Doesn't matter if its chicken, steak or pork. Will I be able to eat extra well done food after my banding? If not, were any of you the same way before your band and how have you adapted after?

    Post-Band Weight Loss Hell

Elizabeth, I'm a newbie, not banded yet but will be soon. Sorry I have no experience in your situation, but I wanted to tell you Jenny Craig is an awesome program. For me it was very easy to follow and worked well. I couldn't stick to it because of cost. Nutrisystem is also a good program that's less expensive. I'm just wondering about the Metformin they put you on (which I also did for over a year) what dosage did they give you and how often? I was on 1700 mg 3 times a day. It did little more than nothing on any less dosage for me. I'm sorry you're having such a tough time, but stick to it. Be strong you CAN do it!
  4. Hi Cindy, Welcome to LBT! I'm also new here, and pretty much in the same boat as you. I'm 33 with 1 son, gained & lost but ultimately skyrocketed after his birth. I'm doing the pre-surgery appointments now: Psych evaluation, sleep study, dietitian, etc... I hope to schedule my surgery for late August or early September. I am so glad you found this site, I have learned a lot from the members. Good luck!
  5. Hello everyone, I'm new to this site. I have been considering Lap-Band surgery for over 2 years now. I finally decided to go through with it in January, but have had problems getting all the paperwork correct and to my surgeon. I have BC/BS of MI, they require all this paperwork in order to pay for the surgery but will not decide whether they will pay until after the procedure is performed. I'm a little scared they will reject my claim and I'll be stuck with astronomical medical bills, but I'll deal with that when the time comes. I hope to have my surgery in late August or early September. My surgeon requires 5 different medical evaluations by different doctors, a sleep study, exercise 30 min per day 5 days a week, and Opti-Fast diet for 4 weeks prior to surgery. Right now I'm working on all these requirements. I'm curious if you all had such strict requirements form your surgeons? I have not started the Opti-Fast diet yet but it seems like it will be Hell on Earth for 4 weeks. So I guess I should just say Hi and please send me good luck and any words of encouragement, 'cause I'm really gonna need it in the weeks to come.
