I have read the forum and I see that various doctors have various plans. I also fully believe that if your surgeon gives you a diet plan with a progression, you follow what he gives you and not what people on forums say is ok. Why is that? Because he's the doctor, not us. It's more important to do what the surgeon says. The surgeon might know something we don't. Your surgeon told you it's unlikely, but other surgeons say it's a very likely thing to happen early in the game. Again, more important to talk to your surgeon than to just do.

    Just had to share....

I LOVE when people share their NSV's! That is fantastic! You should give yourself a big pat on the back!!! All of you
  7. It just means the gas moved up to your shoulder a little later. You should still be ok, but if it would make you feel better call your surgeon and ask about the shoulder pain. Each person is definitely different! I think my worst day was about 4 or 5 days out too. I think it's just a matter of everything leaving your system!

Advancing foods too quickly can cause slippage. The reason this can happen is because there hasn't been enough time for scar tissue to build up around the band and the more solid the food is, the more your stomach has to move to digest it. A lot of people will come on here and say they advanced and they are fine. The thing is, the slip may not happen right off. It could happen months from now because your band moved ever so slightly. Then again, you may end up being fine. But is a maybe worth it? People come on here and they want to hear what they do is ok, but the truth is, it's not. We're supposed to use this healing time as a time to establish new habits and learn self-control. Why would you want to get this surgery done and risk even the slightest possibility of doing something to screw it up over a piece of steak? I'm not trying to be rude or mean or even discouraging, but I just don't get it.
  10. My husband and I have been married for 10 years. A little over a year ago, I had the surgery done and lost all my weight. Our relationship has only gotten better, not that it was bad in the first place. I just had issues with my self esteem and he tried hard to boost my confidences. We're still very happy together, no relationship issues, and are growing in our relationship every day. We do more because I have lost my weight. And he lost weight with me! Because I'm the one who cooks in the house, when my diet changed, his did too. This was a good thing considering he is in the military and has to follow strict guidelines on weight and waist size.
  11. 65g of protein a day is what I was told. I can tell when I didn't get enough protein in that day now. The protein is extremely important. I do still drink a shake now and again, but I'm pretty good about eating my protein. It took me a long time to get there though!
  12. Here's the thing. Most doctors want you to wait a year so you've had a chance to lose weight, and hopefully get to a healthy pregnancy weight, and also to establish new habits. The healthier YOU are, the healthier your pregnancy and baby are. With that said....I got pregnant before I was a year out. I was banded in June, was pregnant end of April/beginning of May. Not too far from the one year mark. By then I had lost all my weight and gotten to where my doctor wanted me to be. I had no idea I was pregnant until I was in the second trimester. Meanwhile, I did have some slight morning sickness. I thought it was just a stomach bug and my regular PCM gave me Phenergan for it so I wouldn't vomit and risk slippage of my band. Then my band tightened!! That was NOT comfy at all. I really had no idea what was going on but I was going to stick it out until I had my next appt with my surgeon. Well, my period went on hiatus and all I could think was if my pcos is back after I have lost all this weight I'm going to lose it. So I took a home pregnancy test so I could tell my PCM I had and it was negative....well....it was positive. I did have to have 1.5 cc's taken out of my band so I could eat properly. From the end May, until July 19th, I had lost more than 12 pounds because my band had tightened up so much I could hardly eat anything. I wasn't getting sick, but I wasn't eating much at all. That was alarming for my doctor, so he had me down immediately to do the unfill. Since then it has been smooth sailing! I am now 22 weeks and everything is going well. The only advice I could offer is just to make sure you have your new habits established first.
  13. Precious, I had lost all my weight by April. In July I found out I was 13 weeks pregnant. I'm now 22 weeks pregnant. June 10th was my 1 year bandiversary. I think you'll be fine, but I also believe in making sure you have set your new habits in place. That's just me. I'm not trying to be negative, but I think getting you healthy first is the most important thing. I'd been trying to get pregnant for 6 years and I fully believe it wouldn't have happened without my band. I had given up and I wasn't trying by the time I got pregnant. I was just enjoying my new healthy self.
