    carbonated beverages!!!!!

I don't. I guess I'm strict with myself. I don't want to do anything that may cause anything to go wrong with my weight loss or the band. Also, I don't want to chance the pain some people get from drinking soda, nor do I want to eat more because the carbonation expanded my pouch.
  2. 2 pounds a week is very nice. It's a safe speed too. My doctor told me 1-2 pounds a week is what I should lose. I wouldn't want to lose faster than that. It's a health thing.
  3. I have an unhealthy fear of puking....as in flat out phobia. That alone keeps me at bay.

    July 2009 Mile Challenge

    Count me in too!
  5. I was banded the 10th and I am allowed things like chicken and tuna salad, as well as lunch meats. No red meat though. The meat has to be moist too. I buy the canned chicken for the chicken salad and I buy ground turkey for dinner type meals. I mince the turkey up pretty well though. Just make smart choices about the types of meats.

    Pain after a fill?

9 cc's at once sounds extreme to me. I think you need to call your doctor. Yes you do swell with a fill.

    liquids to mushys

I'm on the mushy stage too so I know how you're feeling. You most likely will not curb your hunger entirely, but I'm personally ok with that. I know i'll get a fill someday. In the mean time, I drink water to try and curb the hunger. Protein will curb your appetite though.

    liquids to mushys

What you eat will definitely make a difference. It's rather easy to eat unhealthy mushy food rather than eating something healthy and high in protein. Your food choices are super important.
  9. My nutritionist told me i'll probably want to stay away from bread unless it's toasted. She said breads are easily stuck, especially once i've gotten a fill. I'm one of those people I would rather not take a chance with eating bread and it getting stuck and/or vomiting.

    liquids to mushys

Yup. You're adding food with more substance to it. You'll lose it again. I gained a couple pounds, then it fell right back off.
  11. You can't stick with just liquids because you won't get the proper nutrition, and you will stop losing that way. You really need to talk to your doctor about this. If you and your doctor work together, the two of you can find a solution.
  12. Yes it can be bad...you can cause a slip, erosion, and other issues. You need to make sure you slow down, chew, chew, chew, and chew some more. I was warned by the doctor and nutritionist about this.

    One Year!!!!

Congrats! And thank you so much for sharing your experience and advice!
  14. You should see loss during this time, but also expect to gain a little once you move to mushies. You're putting something with more substance into your body at the mushy stage. Your real weight loss won't really start happening until you get filled. However, each person is different
  15. My doctor went over all of this stuff with me. I was also given a couple of videos to watch with a ton of information.

    peanut butter?

I really have no idea. I was told to stay away from it because of how sticky it was. My doc has this powdered peanut butter that you add water to....it's very good, but I can't have it yet (i got to sample different stuff the day before surgery).
  17. Cream of wheat can be made too thick. pureed food is still supposed to be a liquid. So if it has chunks in it, take them out. Make sure it's thinned out with milk/water. My doctor called this the "Full Liquid" phase. It's a thicker liquid with more in it. I took split pea Soup, put 3/4 a can of Water in it, threw it in a magic bullet until it was pure liquid, and that was my full liquid. I did that with most things. I don't like cream of wheat, and my doctor actually told me no oatmeal during this phase, so I stayed away from it.
  18. Nope. It's a soft food. You can puree it though with a magic bullet or a blender. Oatmeal is too thick. You'd have to thin it out. The rule is, if you can drink it through a straw....

    Options for removal - advice

I would call your surgeon and talk to him/her about it. I understand your fears, but personally I would keep it and get back on track. Your health is more important.

    lap band and asthma

Actually, the heavier I got, the worse my asthma got. I've only lost 20 pounds so far, and my asthma has improved. I don't get wheezy nearly as easy now, nor winded. Yes, it does improve for some people. That's why it's a comorbidity. Take a 20 pound weight and stick it on your chest/stomach. See how hard it is to breathe. Take that weight off and you will feel the difference. I was told before I got this done, my asthma should improve.

Chantix is wonderful. I quit a year ago thanks to Chantix.

    self pay

Good luck! I hope everything goes great for you! Keep us posted.
  23. Yesterday there was a burger burn (cook-out) at work for someone going to another military base. I really would have liked one of those burgers, but stuck with my chicken salad while everyone else chowed down on them. I got on the scale this morning, and thumbed my nose at that hamburger.

    Puree/magic bullet

I actually bought the magic bullet. Best investment for this so far.
