  1. Yeah! Congratulations Sheryl and welcome to the Sleeve-side. You will love it - well....once you are healed, you will love it!

Just remember: sip, sip, sip, walk, walk, walk, repeat. :001_tongue:

  2. Thank you so much Sheryl !!

    How are you??

  3. Hi Rob!

Congratulations on your surgery. I know it is tough these first few weeks post-op, but let me tell you, it gets great!!! Fortunately/unfortunately I can eat anything I want. Not always a good thing. Now that I am 9 months out - I really have to watch the slider foods (crackers/chips). Probably why I can't reach goal. Oh well, I will keep at it and keep busting my butt at the gym. I will get there, slow and steady. Linda

    NSV shout outs

Okay all! It's been a while since I posted. Life has been taking too much time. Anyway, I have two NSV's that happened to me recently. 1. I had a size 10 dress from my wedding - I wore this dress as we left our wedding reception on the way to our Honeymoon. Cute little ivory thing - loved it but only wore it once cause it was getting a little tight. I wore this dress easily for my son's First Holy Communion last weekend. I've been able to wear it for a couple months but didn't have a reason until last weekend. I promised myself I would wear it more than once. TaDa!!! I posted picture in my album. 2. My favorite NSV recently happened last night. My husband has a group of guys that have played Texas Hold'Em for years. They rotate whose home, etc. Anyway, last night, this guy I've known for years but haven't seen in almost 11 months, Reggie, comes in and doesn't really say much to me as he proceeds upstairs to the gameroom. This morning my husband told me that Reggie asked him, "who was that women answering the door, where's your wife?" Apparently, Reggie thought we either split up or Patrick was having a scandalous affair - he didn't recognize me. I loved it!!! :tongue_smilie::thumbup:
  5. Dr. Nick had me on the pre-op diet for 2 weeks.

  6. Hi!

I'm doing great. Horribly busy, rarely on VSG anymore - just don't have the time lately. Just a few pounds from goal, working out hard at the gym, but not making great food choices so probably why I'm not AT goal. Most importantly, I'm living life the way I want, and still slowly losing weight. Now more interestingly, how are you managing post-op? How much weight loss so far? Are you handling "real" food okay? Are you lovin' your sleeve?

  7. Hi Sheryl -

Sorry for the late reply. I've been out of town for work all week. Yes, I stayed overnight for one night (optional 2nd night if I was having problems). I had my surgery in the morning on a Tuesday and was discharged in the late afternoon the following day. Hopefully, I can make the meeting this month. Look forward to meeting you!

  8. Hi Sheryl!

Congratulations on your surgery date. I'm hoping to make the April meeting (I had to miss March) - I hope you can make it too, however, I wouldn't count on it if you're one day post-op. I love my sleeve and my progress, albeit my loss has slowed down considerably at 6 months - but I haven't been as careful either. Please feel free to fire questions at me whenever you have them. Everyone here has been so supportive. Talk to you soon!

  9. I'm in!!! See you then!!!!

  10. Tiffany - I'm in!!! Can't wait to meet everyone. Linda
  11. Hi Melissa!

Congratulations on your surgery. How is everything going? Sorry I've been AWOL for awhile. Work has been crazy, home has been crazier. We leave for Disneyworld this Thursday, I need a break. I currently use MyPlate (livestrong.com). Another good one is Myfitnesspal.com. I think Tiffany uses that one as do others. The new version of myplate and myfitnesspal are pretty similar.

    Newbie.....

SParkle - Welcome to VST! I am 6.5 months out and still have 21 lbs to go to reach my lofty goal. Yes, I can eat anything, just in smaller portion. Since I am still trying to lose, I still am very conscientious about what I eat on a daily basis. However, we still eat Mexican, Sushi, Thai, steak (medium rare for me), even a cheeseburger (well part of one anyway) on occasion with no problems. I due tend to notice that I crave the Protein more than I did before surgery and therefore eat more of that than anything else. I have found that things like crackers and chocolate are slider foods for me so I am trying to avoid them while losing. Good luck on your WL journey!!

    NSV shout outs

Okay, I have a NSV (and finally a scale victory too). I bought a pair of capris at Sam's last night. Looking at the size 12, I was thinking, "looks like it might run a bit big so I will try the 10". Well I got home and guess what? The 10's are too BIG. I will be taking them back for the 8's this weekend. I realize that this particular brand probably run BIG, but I don't care - the label will say 8. I know I have been sitting right between 10-12 lately, maybe I am finally a real size 10. Woo Hoo!!!! My scale victory - I FINALLY broke my month long stall - down 2 lbs today. Yippee!!!!
  16. Whoo Hoo Anna!!!! Can you fix my scale too? - it's currently stuck at 164. I complained to my husband who so kindly reminded me that when my 4 year old gets on it, it properly reads 37 lbs, so can't be stuck. I wanted to strangle him for the that!! Not helping!!! Congratulations again on Onederland!!!!
  17. Hey Barb, I have had some weird left incision pain too. I think it is scar tissue tugging and pulling. It was pretty common for me around 8-10 weeks post-op. I could call Brittany tomorrow though, just to be sure. FYI - I am having some weird pain under my incisions from my knee surgery. Kind of similar - so again, I think mine was scar tissue forming and then pulling. Great to finally meet you (in REAL life) last week :001_smile:

    Staple Removal

The drain is a little uncomfortable and a nuisance but not horrible. Having the drain lets your doctor know what's going on inside by seeing what's coming out. When they took it out, I was surprised at how long it was. I was always worried about accidently pulling it out. Yeah, that wasn't going to happen.

    Favorite protein?

Daisy, I'm with you on the Premier Nutrition chocolate Protein shakes. Pretty darn good (like chocolate milk) for 160cal and 30g of protein. Bought some last week and have been using them for a snack. Even my picky husband likes them.

    Unjury Unflavored Protein

Order samples and try it yourself. Everyone has different opinions on taste. I lived on Nectar Fuzzy Navel mixed with Sunrise Crystal Light and 28 ounces of water for 3 months. Loved it. Although, I got away from protein shakes over the last few months, I am back to trying them in an effort to increase my protein and break this nasty stall. I recently tried the Chike Protein sample (chocolate) I had ordered and enjoyed that. I also recently purchased Premier Nutrition Protein shakes from Costco (RTD) and like those too. I also have many tubs of protein sitting on top of my refrigerator that I don't particularly care for. There is a thread under food / protein that lists lots of places to order samples of different proteins. I would highly recommend checking it out to save room (and $$) on top of the fridge for protein you will actually drink

    Staple Removal

Some doctors use staples for the skin incisions, others use dissolvable sutures and still others use surgical glue. If I remember correctly, Dr Nick uses glue. I had staples with one of my c-sections, tiny pinch when they clip the staple and a slight tug when they pull it out. Not horrible.
  24. Congratulations MrNick and Anna - Way to work that sleeve!!!!
