    January surgeries?!

Don’t be scared ladies. I have my surgery on January 7 and I was so nervous before I almost made myself sick. I am now only 10 days postop and I can honestly tell you that it wasn’t nearly as big of a deal as I was making out to be in my head. I’m doing awesome, I have no problem drinking fluids, and honestly just feel really great. The first two days I was in a little bit of pain but only took Tylenol and that took care of it. I’ve already 31lbs since January 3 (the start of my preop diet). So I guess what I’m saying is don’t be nervous, it really ain’t no thing 🙂

Oh good. I’m glad you are doing well. The next 2-3 days you’ll be a little sore but by day 4 you’ll be a whole new person and feeling great! Keep it up!

    January surgeries?!

I was super scared about getting it done. I had a lot of anxiety about it and mainly about not knowing what to expect after. I can tell you it is definitely not as bad as I even remotely thought it was going to be. The first two days were rough but after that it’s been smooth sailing. I am able to drink regularly with no problems. I am only a week postop. The only thing I have trouble on is getting all the protein down because it is so thick it is hard to drink even if I water it down. I let have lost 30 pounds so far in the last two weeks. 17 were from my liquid diet preop and the remaining 13 pounds I have lost in the last week since surgery. I am having a problem with not eating foods as I’m not hungry and so far it’s all been very easy. good luck to you! Message me if there is any thing that I can help you with🙂

    January surgeries?!

I’m on clear liquids only (jello, water, broth, popsicles) for 3 weeks post op. Started week 2 today. Seems like forever before I’m going to get to eat anything real lol

    January surgeries?!

Hi Johnny, thank you for your concern as well as the recommendation you gave a newly sleeved patient to ditch her care team instead of just saying “everyone’s plans are different”. While I am going to take the high road and choose not to contradict you just know I am not a fool especially when it comes to medicine. As a women who holds a PhD in a healthcare field, has worked in medicine for over 17 years, and has managed numerous medical clinics across multiple states including those relating to surgery, I can assure you that I am not an ignoramus who doesn’t understand the effects of nutrition on the body. But just for the heck of it, the 2016 Harvard Medical Review as well as the World Health organizations published study reviewing Sodium intake for adults and children published in the 5th Geneva, World Health Organization in 2014 states the recommended sodium level to be above <2grams and < 5grams per day. Sodium is different than SALT. My CARE TEAM has their patients living a full keto diet for life after surgery to obtain optimum health. A keto Diet requires a minimum of 3-4 grams per day to get proper balance. When consuming a full liquid diet of higher protein and less than 20grams of carbs a day your body goes in to KETOSIS requiring additional sodium (3-4grams) a day in order to balance out nutrients and promote health. Anyone consuming a liquid diet of atleast 60g protein and less than 20g carbs (every person I know post sleeve surgery who is following the liquid diet requirements) should be doing this. You can read this yourself if you look up anything regarding ketosis and sodium levels. Honestly, please don’t insult me, or my physicians and act like you know more than my own doctor. I would appreciate it.

Oh my lord. I am so sorry. That sounds terrible. I’m so glad you are doing good now. Unfortunately I didn’t have any complications so far. Just an occasional diaphragm spasm from swelling but comes and go super quickly. I really wish you the best now that the worst appears to be over 🙂

    Pain in Diaphram

I got the BRACEABILITY compression garment from amazon. I really like it and it worked well.

    Pain in Diaphram

NO I spoke to soon. It helped for a bit then came back. I called the doc today to see and he said it’s a diaphram spasm probably from the surgery and the protractor etc. said it’ll go away in time. Awww well lol

    January surgeries?!

Yeah my team actually says the opposite which makes sense if you think about it. Low sodium messes with your potassium and actually causes dehydration. You need 3-4grams of sodium a day. Worked wel for their patients.

You need more salt. I felt that way the first day and called my doc. Thought I was getting dehydrated. Told me I wasn’t getting enough salt. Recommended a coffee mug with hot water with 3 bullion cubes in it dissolved. Said we need 3-4 grams of sodium each day otherwise body doesn’t hold on to water, messes with potassium etc. the next day first thing I did was drink a coffee mug full of 3 bullion cubes with a spoon and honesty have felt great everyday since. Lots of energy and no problems anymore :-)

    3 days until surgery

Chicken broth has less sodium in it. Remember you want to get 3-4 grams a day in. You can drink the chicken broth but you have to drink more to get adequate sodium. I can’t drink that much so I do the bullion cubes. That’s what the doctor and dietician recommended to make sure I get the sodium in I need at first. And honestly, I’d rather get it over with haha but whatever you prefer, just make sure your getting sodium :-)

Yep that was me too. I spent one night in the hospital. You might get a little nauseous the first and second day post op but don’t worry they’ll give you meds and it will pass. Honestly my BIGGEST advice to you is every morning first think get up, boil a regular size coffee mug of water, dissolve 3 bullion cubes in it, pour it back in a coffee mug, and sip the entire thing down using a spoon. It literally makes 100% difference. I have energy. Am moving. No pain. Feel great. Getting fluids in. And it’s all because my doctor gave me that advice. The one day I didn’t do that I get awful and dehydrated. I’m only 6 days post op :-)
