Well, as those that follow my blog know, I have had fill after fill and no restriction. My last fill was May 29th and nothing. UNTIL . . . last Friday. Normally, I feel a little restriction first thing in the morning, not enough to stop me from eating, but some. Then nada the rest of the day. So, normal day, I had spicy V-8 juice for breakfast, went to the gym with a friend. Afterwards we decided to go for Mexican Food. So, I ordered Grilled Chicken Nachos. Now, a week ago, I could have eaten the entire plate and would have eaten 1/2-3/4 the plate (showing some restraint . I ate maybe 4 bites and felt stuffed. At first it scared me, I was like, uh-oh, I must have taken too big a bite, but nope. I was just really full. I kept thinking it was probably a fluke. That evening, I could eat almost like normal, but a little bit of restriction. Day 2 - Saturday. We had a birthday party for my Godson (he is 2 and too freakin cute). We had hotdogs, chips and cake. So, I ate some Cheetos while the hot dogs were cooking. Got my hot dog, sat down, took 3 bites BAM, I was full! It was awesome. However, it didn't stop me from having a slice of cake about an hour later, but I felt that same full feeling again after the cake (and it was a very small piece). So, I have a Dr.s appt this Wednesday for a fill. I just called the office and told them my story to see if I needed to cxl my appt or keep it. They told me to keep the appt and see how I feel that morning. (I thought that was super nice of them, I was trying to give them time to fill the appt slot). So, I will keep it and cxl that day if it stays this good. I feel like the luckiest girl ever. I was kinda thinking that I would never get restriction and be a lapband failure.

I never realized how much I eat when I am bored. I only get bored in the evening. I need to find something to occupy my time. I am trying to workout in the evening, but sometimes it is just so much easier to do in the mornings. I work from home, so I am always here and always 5 steps from the fridge. HOWEVER, I am fine during the day. But man oh man, when the evening gets here, I find myself standing in the kitchen just looking for things to eat and of course they are never good. Thankfully they are at least low-cal. I have pretty much changed everything out, but 3 bags of 100 calorie snacks is still 300 calories you know what I mean?

Surgery is APPROVED - Tricare insurance
minpinmom replied to Long2BFree's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
WooHoo! Congratulations. What exciting news. Good luck and keep us informed! -
I am so sorry for you. I have had that happen to me in High School - but the guy I was riding with was larger than me and made sure everyone thought it was him, not me that couldn't ride. He even thanked me in front of everyone for getting off with him! What a sweetheart. He was a good friend. I am sorry you had to go through that. I am sending you warm hugs today.

How many fills does it take to find a sweet spot?

I have a 4CC band and I am about to go in for my 5th fill. I am hoping this is the one! -
Tricare Prime and Dallas/Fort Worth Texas

Mine was at a Center of Excellence and Tricare, not my Dr., required me to stay. It was nice thought - cushy hospital. -
I will try that - I love oranges. It is so stinkin' counterproductive. I just hate it.

Too funny! I wish my Dr.s office was psychic!

I am wondering if you have something wrong with your Bugg. If you have a 4600 deficit for the day and you are consuming 1600 calories, then you are burning a total of 6200 a day. - I think? (Now, I am horrible at math, but here goes). Sleep 8 hours with an average burn of 1.2 Calories while you sleep. Would be roughly 72 Calories burned per hour of sleep each night. Assuming you sleep 8 hours, then you would burn 576 calories each night. 16 Hours left in the day. 6200 Calories - 576 Calories means you are burning 5624 Calories in your waking time. Break that down per minute and you are burning 5.8 Calories per minute during every single minute that you are awake. I personally have to work out HARD at the gym to burn that much for just an hour. Maybe your Bugg is malfunctioning? Or you could be a Calorie Burning Machine! Either way I would love to know the results. You should contact BB Support and see what they say.

Tricare Prime and Dallas/Fort Worth Texas

My surgeon told me it was going to be outpatient, then his office called and said they require an overnight stay. HOWEVER, I was one of the first to go through the new system, so things may have changed since then. -
The pain in your neck and shoulder is the remaining gas they put in when they do the surgery. The only thing that will help that is walking. I totally understand what you are going through, my head wants everything, even more than before. It sucks, but is seems to get easier. You are doing great for such a short time since surgery! Congratulations!

What do you like in a support group?
minpinmom replied to Shinyhappymommy's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Here are some of the things that I like about my support groups Clothing Exchange Vitamin/Protein Samples (everyone brings their favorite things, like maybe a protein bar, or a new vitamin and you break it in little pieces and everyone can try it. Experts - local LPC or Psychologist to discuss mental health for WLS patients, Someone who is at goal (you could get someone from your Dr.s office that is at goal and ask them to come) Books and recipe trading (borrowing) -
Italy is so beautiful - my favorite place to visit! Where in Texas are you - I am in conroe - just North of Houston. Keep us informed as to your progress, this is a great place for support.

do you follow the post fill diet and why is it necessary?

I am so stinkin jealous of you guys! I wish my Dr. was this lenient. I feel like I am back in High School - but Tammy's Mom lets her do it! -

Yeah, they made me stay overnight - it wasn't too bad. -
do you follow the post fill diet and why is it necessary?
minpinmom replied to Linda Hamsing Rosen's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My Dr. requires clear liquids and Slim Fast for the 4 days after your fill, then soft foods for 4 more days - then to regular foods as tolerated. I follow his instructions - BUT, I usually go to thicker liquids on day 3. I know - I am such a rebel! He said the liquid/soft diet is so that your stomach has time to adjust after being tightened. If you eat something that irritates it too soon - and end up having to have an unfill - it will take longer to get to your sweet spot. -
Dr. Spiegel did my surgery, he and the Hospital take Tricare Prime - It cost $12.00 per visit for the copay and $11.00 for the overnight hospital stay. I searched for all the Dr.s that I considered were the BEST to do the surgery. Then I called their offices and asked if they took Tricare Prime - you can also find the Dr.s name and do a search on Tricare for that specific Dr. I know some have called Tricare and had lots of luck that way - but I wanted to make sure that I got the best Dr., so I made a list. It just so happened, that my top choice accepted the insurance.

Yumm! I can't wait to try it.

I have had 4 fills and still have no restriction. Up until a month ago, I was doing really well. Eating all the right things (in the right amounts). I started working out. I go EVERY day - and for 3 weeks, nothing, I didn't lose 1 lb. I got discouraged and started eating more - and now I just can't seem to stop. I have an appointment for my 5th fill on the 25th of this month. I can feel some restriction in the morning - but by lunch, it is if I have no band at all. I am starting to get worried - because I know me and after a few months on a diet - I lose the willpower, as I am doing now. I just hope I can hang in there for a couple more weeks and not gain any between now and then. I know it takes a while to get to your sweet spot, but I never really thought I would feel like such a failure for not being able to control what I eat. I am very disappointed in myself. Everyday I tell myself, tomorrow, I am going to eat healthy, stay within my calories and follow all the band rules. But when lunch hits, I eat my small amount of food on the plate and sit and wait and hope for any feeling of fullness, or just for the hunger to go away. It doesn't I end up eating more, then feeling bad and eating even worse later because of that. Tomorrow is another day. I will eat healthier, stay within my calories and follow all the band rules. But tonight . . . Where's the Thin Mints! Oh and I still go to the gym EVERY day. I never thought I would be able to do that.

I would love the recipe! I try to drink a bottle of water before each meal - although, this week I haven't really done that. I do think it helps, I will start with that again.
-
lol, no, I put lotion around mine, being careful not to get it on the actual incision. If it gets bad, maybe some benadryl?
-
Your day will come soon. I am sorry it was so hard on you - but really in a week - this will be a memory. Congratulations on the weight loss that is AWESOME

I do Protein shakes for breakfast - although the last week I have been just drinking V8 juice for breakfast, trying to cut out some calories anyway I can. I eat solids - mostly, I am just still hungry afterwards. Now I am PMSing, so this blows royally. Now I want chocolate, I mean, I want Chocolate NOW!
