    Surgery 09_22_09

Hello Everyone--I am scheduled for surgery on 09_22_09, in TJ. I am currently on the pre-op diet, ugh! I am allowed a Protein shake for Breakfast, a Protein Shake for lunch, and a lean cuisine with a cup of salad for dinner. I am so hungry:sad:. I have been on the pre-op since 09_08_09. Today I cheated, I feel like crap:mad2:. I had a egg taco for lunch instead of my protein shake!! I hope I have the strength to not let that happen again!!!!

    September 2009 Band Date

Hello fellow September bandsters!! I too am scheduled for surgery on the 22nd. I can hardly wait!! I plan to start my pre-op diet on the 7th, I return that morning from vacation. I am going to TJ, Mexico to see Dr Ortiz. This eveing I emailed Dr Mirada for more details on the pre-op diet. Which shakes to use and they suggest Lean Cuisine for dinner, but not sure of the total calorie count. Any suggestions on the shakes?? I purchased Isopure Low Carb, total of 220 calories per serving with 50 grams of protein. The consultant also suggested Glucerna or Slimfast. Best of luck to everyone!!!

    September 2009 Band Date

  8. I started researching lap band on my own, without the the knowledge of my MD. My general Doc is a graduate of Loma Linda University in Southern California. And he is also a physian there as well. When I went to see him he gave me a "high five" on the lap band. Per his professional experience the lap band has a higher success rate compared to the bypass. I even told him I was going to go to Mexico and thought he would try to discourage me, but that was not so. His only concern was the facility that I was going to. He stated Mexico has some of the best state of the art hospitals. Do your reasearch!!! I started out with one organization and had a bad feeling in my gut. I'm glad I realized that I have options and did not go with the 1st place I checked into. I have a surgery date of 09_22_09, I can't wait for the journey into my new life, the improved me!!! Stacy
  9. I currently have a surgery date for Sept. I am taking a leap of faith, but it feels right. My gut tells me this will be fine. I live 2hrs away from the border and am not really concerned about the travel. Can anyone give me any feedback? Most friends and family say "go for it". Then there are the few that say "Meixco---no way!" I am going to see Dr Ortiz, he appears top notch as well as the facility. Any recent patients out there who can give me more insite? Good Lord, I have so many butterflies in my hopefully soon to be gone tummy!!!
  10. Never, ever did I think my thread would create such a rage with fellow members on this forum! I am so sorry to read the anger between members. I respect EACH and EVERYONES opinion. I have one request....Please visit the website for Dr Ortiz. It is simple to google the following "Dr Ortiz Tijuana." I have been quite impressed with his information and his CV (resume). Please let me know your thoughts after doing so. Other members have spoken highly on their experiences with him and his fellow team members, but the comments are a little dated. I was hoping to hear current experiences. We are all on the same journey, the road for some may be "the road less traveled" but with hope we all end at the same place. I thank you for your passion and look forward to your future input. Wishing all a succesful journey!!! Stacy
  11. I am finding out some scary info on the center I have attended. One of the owner doctor has had his license revoked and the other (his brother) is on probation! I am also getting info from Chapman Medical Center in Orange. I have a cousin who went there earlier this year for gastric bypass and he is completely satisfied. I am so disappointed, I wanted to be banded before years end...I don't think I will be. Thank you for your support!!
  12. Hello Greta, Do you mind me asking where you went? I have started the process with "Weight Loss Centers" also known as "Top Surgeons" out of Beverly Hills. I had all pre-op procedures performed on 7-18-09. I have asked about money owed by me but told nothing was due from me yet. Can you explain the fee you were charged?? But now I am starting to feel that I need to change after all I am reading through this web-site. Thank you!! :smile2:
  13. I went to Weight loss Center here in CA. I attended the seminar on 7/2/09, and had the endoscpy, sonogram, blood/urine work on 7/18/09. Spoke with the psych tech on 7/24/09 and I guess the next step is with the nutritionist. I am curious to know if anyone can help me with the following questions: I find I am having to be aggresive with each step and call the center to find out what next? My consultant quit the day after my seminar. I was not informed to lose weight prior to surgery, should I start now? Has anyone gone thru Weight Loss Centers here in Ca. that can give me some info on their experience?
