MissyC replied to shell04937's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have a VanGard band which holds 13cc. I currently have 9cc in my band but hoping to get another fill soon. -
Poll - Are You Attracted To Overweight People?
MissyC replied to KariK's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I don't mind a guy who is a little chunky, as long as he's got some junk in his trunk. I'm just not attracted to those guys with huge belly's and NO butt. lol..sorry....I'm a butt girl. -
I am a big time water and tea drinker also. I can pretty much drink to quench my thirst without any problem. Of course, no drinking for at least 5-10 minutes before meals. And my doctor ok'ed drinking 1 hour post meal. but no sooner.

Hi Jim, Are you a night shifter also?

A thread for Single Bandsters
MissyC replied to NewBeginnings2018's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Thanks to everyone for all the encouraging words. Its really nice to know that your not the only one out there dealing with these issues. I have lived in the same area for many, many years. I have also been divorced for many many years. I have the same circle of friends I have always had, with the exception of 1 other single woman, all my friends are married. I feel insecure, envious and resentful at times. Its funny how they all tried to "fix me up", back when I was thinner and in my 30's. Now, no one ever ever mentions it. I feel like an old timey spinster relative sometimes. And I want to scream.........Hey I'm alive and 45........not dead. lol Missy -
I'm absolutely in the yellow zone, eating way to much and trying to stop but struggling. I still feel hungry alot. I haven't achieved that satiated feeling yet. And I went for a fill in Sept and my dr refused to give me one because I had lost greater that 2 lbs per month. He says that my goal is 1/2 to 1 lbs per week, and he won't give me another fill til I go 4 weeks without wt loss. So far, my wt loss is about 2.5 lbs per month. I guess that's good, I'm trending down. By far my greatest weight loss times have been post fill liquid diet weeks. It doesn't seem normal to me, but my doctor and his staff keep telling me I'm doing ok.

I have UHC HMO thru my job, HCA which is a large corporation. I encountered the same difficulty trying to deal with the people at the insurance co. they were rude and abrupt. BUT, after my first consult at the dr office, they took care of sending all the paperwork to the insurance co and to my surprise, I was approved very quickly with the first letter. I have had no out of pocket except my deductible. My first 2 fills were covered in the "surg package". I think the uhc reps should just have personality lessions. haha.

Can anyone describe the signs/symptoms of band slippage? I keep thinking it has slipped, because I can eat almost a full portion, but when I was at the drs office in sept. He said it was fine. They do all their fill under fluroscopy so they view the sites with each visit. I still worry that eating this much is not normal.

Hi, My name is Missy. I am 45 years old and have been slightly overweight all my life. I have been divorced for nearly 25 years. I didn't get significantly overweight till I hit my mid 30's. For the last 10 years I gained steadily til I reached a top wt of 266. And I am only 5'2" so I was ROTUND. Well, I still am, but getting better. 30 lbs has made a difference. I don't date, not because I don't want to, but because I don't get asked. I haven't been on a date in 3 1/2 years. I'm kinda stuck in a funny mindset....do I want someone who would only ask out a skinny me? I am not hesitant about sharing that I've been banded. It doesn't bother me to talk about it at all. If it bothers them, thats they're problem. Banded on 5/22/06 start wt 266 current wt 229. Struggling but hopeful. -
I haven't posted for several weeks either. I am in the same boat as well. Struggling terribly to eat right, not overeat and not do anything that will make me throw up. I have trouble with overeating. I can eat almost a normal size meal. I have really been trying but its hard when I can eat pretty much a regular size meal. A not very nice person on a different support site actually asked me why I continue to "shovel" food into my mouth!. Well, I do try, but if I could do it on my own, the TOPS, the atkins, the zone, the weight watchers, the gym memberships that I have done over the years would have worked. If I had known my outcome would be this, I may not have bothered. I am very discouraged and feel like I should be doing better. 4/18/06 1st consult. wt 266 may 06-approved and started 2 week liquid diet. with diff. I was banded on 5/22 (13cc vangard band). wt 258. follow up 5/28/06 wt 247 1st fill 6/28/06 4cc fill. wt 244. 2nd fill 8/18/06 5cc fill wt 238 went back for 3rd fill 9/28/06 wt 233, and the dr refused to give me another fill because he said that as long as I was losing 1/2 lb per week, that was acceptable. I told them, the problem was....I wasn't losing wt. ALL MY WT LOSS, was from the 1 week post -fill liquid diet. So...here I am....nov 12. wt 229 and wondering what to do to succeed. My doctor told me I couldn't get a fill unless I went for 1 full month without loosing wt. Anyone else have this type of problem? Missy

I love this. What a great idea.

I'm Missy from North central Tx. Banded on May 22, so I'm a newbie all round. I had my first fill 2 weeks ago, and I'm confused because I expected to feel "fuller", while eating less. The amt I'm able to eat has not changed much at all. I am trying to eat less, but the whole point of all this pain, time and $$$ was to have a smaller eating pouch I thought. .....still on a learning curve I guess.

Hi all, I was banded by Dr Jayaseelan on May 22, 2006. I had my surgery at medical city in dallas, but live in corinth. (north of dallas).

My experience sounds similar. I was banded on May 22, had my first fill 2 weeks ago. I had done quite a bit of research before the surgery, but I guess not enough. I didn't know that there are 2 different sizes of bands. One holds approx 4-5cc. and another "large" size holds about 14cc. I did not know till my fill that I had a "large" band. My first fill was 5cc. I do not see any difference, and I still have not experience that "full" feeling that I have been told I would feel. My food portions are about the same as pre-surgery. Only slightly less and that is confusing and a dissapointment. I have only seen my surgeon 1 time. Every time I go into his office, I see someone different. My questions are answered way to briefly, and when I have asked for more detail, I still get brief answers. I guess I should be more aggressive with them....but I tend to be tongue tied when I should be asking questions.
